There are so many people out there hurt by the drug war, on so many levels, but there are far more people out there who bought into the government's lies and drug war; and they treated people like shit for their drug use; they ostracized people for their drug use - and now they have to admit that not only were they wrong, but that there was no moral rationalization for their behavior, and that the truth was always out there but they chose to believe the government over their family and friends; they chose the government over love and compassion.
Asshole simpleton sheeple.

Listening to Crosby Stills and Nash this morning and remembering a 2004 visit to Morocco. Didn’t make it to Marrakesh in the 60’s; babies, diapers, and doctor visits got in the way… so I decided to go for my 60th : )
More than You Ever Wanted to Know:
In the late 60’s, Morocco was fast becoming an essential stop-off point on the new hippie trail. It was a place frequented by seekers of all stripes; from travelers to artists, writers, and rock stars.
They were all drawn by the exotica of this storied corner of North Africa, whose heady promise of spiritual enlightenment and hashish served to melt away the conventions of the West.
In 1966, Graham Nash made a pilgrimage of his own, one that sparked off one of his most famous songs. On holiday from his day job as leader of The Hollies, Nash bought himself a ticket and hopped aboard a train from Casablanca to Marrakesh.
"Marrakesh Express" was written and composed by Nash during his final years as a member of the English rock band The Hollies, of which he was a member from its formation in 1962 till 1968. The band rejected the song as not commercial enough, but it found a home with Nash's new band Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Morocco Information:
The country is utterly amazing with many historical sites, Hassan Tower being one of those sites.
Hassan Tower is the minaret of an incomplete mosque in Rabat, Morocco.
It was commissioned by Abu Yusuf Yaqub al-Mansur, the third Caliph of the Almohad Caliphate, near the end of the 12th century.
The tower was intended to be the largest minaret in the world, and the mosque, when completed, would have been the largest in the western Muslim world.
When al-Mansur died in 1199, construction on the mosque stopped. The minaret was left standing at a height of 44 meters. The rest of the mosque was also left incomplete, with only the beginnings of several walls and 348 columns being constructed.
The tower, along with the remains of the mosque and the modern Mausoleum of Mohammed V, forms an important historical complex in Rabat. It contains the tombs of the Moroccan king Mohammed V and his two sons, late King Hassan II and Prince Abdallah.

"You fooled the skies with black flame spells.
How life is given without being overthrown.
And all the words of the madmen that were our words,
the magic with drugs in the prodigal silence.
You mourned with love naked and drunk
because you had accounts with the immortals.
You stuttered the arias of an opera defeated,
a provincial student in front of two oracles.
What did you envy, what did you want, the glorious Paris.
In any case, the world is full of people everywhere.
Claiming miracles given by hashish
and illusions of those living in prisons.
And one night you dressed up as Moon Hamlet,
you turned off the stage lights with a bang.
And you started solving riddles and riddles.
an art and an age of old and dark."
Our valorous Ghost regrettably sacks off the rebellion and lets his island fry; after stumbling upon a secret dank ganja farm.

Swayambhunath stupa is also called the `Monkey Temple' because of the many hundreds of monkeys who scamper about the temple at night after the pilgrims and priests have departed. These monkeys and a hashish inspired to the magic of sacred places for who believers.

Chefchaouen is situated in the Rif Mountains, just inland from Tangier and Tetouan at the top of the Rif Valley. The city was founded in 1471, as a small fortress, which still exists to this day. The Medina is painted blue.
The countryside around it, the Rif Valley, has a reputation for being a prolific source of kief. The Chefchaouen region is one of the main producers of cannabis in Morocco, with extensive cannabis plantations along the valley. Hashish is subsequently sold all over town. Alcohol is strictly forbidden.

The Maids Of Marrakesh
~Michael Walker~
In the fetish of hashish enmeshed,
I watch the stash beneath each raven tress,
Enraptured with the maids of Marrakesh.
To think that one like them beheld the creche,
Seems to me unheard of in this mess -
I turn back from the threshold of the flesh.
I watch them wave each sash as if a lash,
As they take the cash, as they undress,
Enraptured with the maids of Marrakesh.
To think that one of them was at the Pasch,
When she dashed to His feet, her lips to press,
I turn back from the threshold of the flesh.
I watch them thrash, though we shall burn to ash,
For those who seem to be more shall be less,
Enraptured with the maids of Marrakesh.
I wish not that they kiss so much as bless,
And thus, to Jesus tenderly confess,
'Enraptured by the maids of Marrakesh,
I turn back from the threshold of the flesh.'

Back in the early seventies, Peoria had two head shops, The Good Seed and The Omega Boutique. A head shop was basically a store to supply the needs of hippies. In those days you needed a source for things like papers for rolling joints, pipes for hashish, bongs for taking a more powerful hit, black light posters, bell bottom trousers, incense to cover the smell of pot smoke, and other iconic cultural items for the lifestyle. Oh yeah, don’t forget to get a few Robert Crumb comics while you are there to feed your world view. The window display seen here is Ribbon Records. These young folks have taken over the same old building we used to flock to and made it into this day’s version of a head shop. Here you are more likely to find hip vintage clothing, old vinyl LP records of the same music we listened to, and all of the various goods necessary to be hip today. This is a cool place. Some things never change. They just pop up again dressed in different clothing. Cheers hipsters. You really aren’t that different from your boomer grandparents.
ooo, i like that shaft in the background with its large flute and its eruption. or is that one of mrwaterslide's lady friends, celebrating her joy and singing "Oh Happy Day:? not sure if this is him. the goofy lean of the guy feels vaguely familiar, but that thick black beard? maybe it's his doppelganger. i hope that shopping bag holds a kilo of hashish and not those frilly panties he bought at Victoria's Secret to wear to the Gentleman's Ball.
Mother-Of-mrwaterslide is the only one he knows who uses one of those panorama cameras. he's blushing to think she might have taken this picture.

AIR POLLUTION CAUSES MORE DEATH THAN 2ND HAND TOBACCO SMOKE;
...so why does the University of Victoria ban smoking on campus, and not cars?
...and why does this medicinal marijuana smoker have to gimp along on bad knees and medicate next to a parking lot full of cars and traffic, often standing in the rain?

WHO estimates more than 2 million people die every year from breathing in tiny particles present in indoor and outdoor air pollution.
The main findings contained in the new compilation are:
•Persistently elevated levels of fine particle pollution are common across many urban areas. Fine particle pollution often originates from combustion sources such as power plants and motor vehicles.
•The great majority of urban populations have an average annual exposure to PM10 particles in excess of the WHO Air Quality guideline recommended maximum level of 20 µg/m3. On average, only a few cities currently meet the WHO guideline values.
•For 2008, the estimated mortality attributable to outdoor air pollution in cities amounts to 1.34 million premature deaths.

As the evening call for prayers from Srinagar’s Hazratbal mosque resounds over the Dal Lake, Ajaz walks through one of the city’s many graveyards. The young man in worn-out jeans and a body-hugging T-shirt swaggers past unkempt tombstones, counting friends and family that are buried there—all 21 of them. He tells me how he can still see the smiling face of Mushtaq, who was his senior at school, and who would have been 27 this year. He tells me about another friend, Javed, who was his parents’ only son. The day he died, he was wearing Ajaz’s clothes
Javed was 23 and had spent the night at his house. Ajaz remembers that 6 hours after his death, when they took his body for burial, blood was still oozing from his bullet wounds.
Every epitaph here tells a story—the tragic story of a generation lost. Ajaz lingers for a bit, staring glassy-eyed into the distance, till he eventually snaps out of it. “Enough of this tragedy, let’s go have some fun.”
Ajaz is part of Kashmir’s “lost generation”, an entire generation of youth that has grown up in a Kashmir ravaged by 20 years of turmoil. They are an age group with no real ambitions or motivations, just a preoccupation with survival. Ajaz spends his days at 8 Ball, a smoky snooker den at Lal Chowk in the city centre. The parlour is inhabited by 15- to 20-year-olds. And this is their home turf, a place where they escape the tear gas and rubber bullets of the old city—to gamble and smoke all too many cigarettes. Some of the older boys such as Ajaz sometimes walk to the football ground nearby to show off their hairstyles, their sunglasses, their cigarettes, their tattoos and, sometimes, even their girls.
At the parlour, Ajaz lights up a little block of hashish and watches it crumble into his palm. Sajid, a boy with hard cheekbones and a black jacket with a woven trim, empties tobacco from a cigarette with his long fingers. He looks slightly mad for some reason.
Look at these boys closely and there’s a sense of overgrown teenage urgency and escape, the sense that all these details—the parting of the hair, the length of the fingernails, the jacket trim, the cigarette grip—matter greatly.
“Smoking up is haram (sin). But I can’t go through a day without rolling one. It helps us forget,” Ajaz tells me as Sajid grunts in approval.
Ajaz’s cellphone rings with a polyphonic rendition of a song from the Hindi movie Ghajini. It’s his girlfriend Farhana. They flirt awkwardly on the phone, the conversation no different than one two lovers would have in a Mumbai college.
This is the signal to step out. Ajaz first stops at Broadway Cinema, a bombed out theatre, the upper floors of which have now been converted into a bar. A couple of beer cans are procured and cigarette cartons are refilled. Ajaz then picks up Farhana from a pre-decided spot.
Once all of us are in an autorickshaw, Farhana lets Ajaz light her cigarette. She is dressed modestly in a salwar-kameez but she admits to wearing only jeans at home. “I want to go to Mumbai or Delhi, so that I can wear a skirt and be free—just like in the movies,” she tells me as the rickshaw speeds towards their hangout den, Dal Boulevard.
Ajaz waits till we’re in a shikara, or houseboat, to surprise Farhana with a can of beer. She pops it open and takes a sip. The boatman frowns but nonetheless, he manoeuvres the boat further away from the orthodoxy of Srinagar. The couple steal a kiss as a dark plume of smoke makes itself visible over the city. In Srinagar, there’s no time for love.
I asked if I could get the shot from on the helicopter pad as it took off.
They looked at me and said no...

Richard A. Muttkowski (1887-1943), well-known American entomologist, was also a stickler for philological precision. He considered the name 'Aeshna' to be utterly 'barbaric'. That name had been given our pretty Migrant Hawker by Johan Christian Fabricius (1745-1808) in his Systema Entomologiae of 1775. Something was fishy about it and already in 1801 an Anonymous proposed the 'correct' Latinised Greek: Aeschna. But Fabricius' name stuck.
Muttkowski would have nothing of it, and he submitted a proposal to the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (founded in 1895) to revise the name 'Aeshna'. He gave a number of reasons based on philology and on speculation about the mind set of Fabricius.
His proposal makes for fascinating reading. But names once given have a way of holding. After lengthy deliberation the Commission decided anyway to retain Fabricius' name. Their tongue-in-cheek general remark is humorous enough to quote here. Agreeing with Muttkowski that a corruption of the Greek is perfecty possible, they say:
'So far as the evidence goes, however, it is equally possible that this word is an intentional barbarism or that it is the name of a ship, or of a goddess unknown to the Commission, or that it is an arbitrary combination of letters, or that it is the name of some friend of Fabricius.'
The name was not changed.
Here's our beautiful Migrant Hawker on Marijuana, Cannabis sativa (www.flickr.com/photos/87453322@N00/36295279372/in/photoli...). The inset shows a young Cannabis flower and especially those tiny, white globulous trichomes, the oil of which might have relaxed Muttkowski. On the other hand, we'd then not have been able to enjoy this little episode of nomenclatural humor.
PS The inset photo is of a plant in the shade of the glade; the Dragonfly Plant of the main shot stands proudly in the Autumn Sun.

Handi Sai the earlier Murshad of the Chancawalli Rafaees loved dollops of Amul butter added to the tea made on the Dhuni or Holy Fire..
After his death , it is ordinary tea, but the taste is divine, and lasts and lingers like sweet honey..
The Bawas like hashish and tea, they hardly touch ganja, though there are a few on opium..
Last night I saw a bawa making chillums at the dhuni..
I smoked a lot of reefers during my college days , while we sat at the archival corridors of Elphinstone College..
Later friends introduced me to the giant chillum at Shuklaji street , 15 balls of hash or more in a single round , bombay black or afghani..
But luckily though I saw the opium dens at Foras Road I hardly ever had an urge for it..
I gave up hash 30 years back completely and I have been off booze since 12 years..
I never touched brown sugar but did see a close rich friend Porus of Cuffe Parade go down the drain..
My high is photography my nasha is blogging .. all tailor made to my existence ..
One of my self appointed teachers, Sidi Gidi Baba, from Punjab, lights his first chilom of hash for the day, my last day in Varanasi. The other Baba, very ornate complete with pigeon, is the embodiment of Shiva. Taken on the day of the Kumbh Mela. Varanasi. India.

Although I do need to charge for other professional, corporate or commercial uses, as I also have to make money to live. I can then supply a high resolution finished image which is sized to your needs.
For more information please contact me through FlickrMail.
Thanks .............. tim

Amsterdam is cool!
Although it smells a lot like hashish here and is therefore often too loud, Amsterdam is still so impressive with its amazing and unique architecture. It is also the Amsterdammers themselves who characterize and define the flair here. It is a city that has much more to offer than just hashish, bicycles and canals.
Ƥ⟆: Did you know that there are far more bicycles than inhabitants in Amsterdam!
