Harpers Ferry is situated at confluence between the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers in West Virginia. historically an interest location since it was the place of John Brown's raid and an important strategic town during the Civil War. The image was taken at sunrise from the overlook in front of the town that can be reached by a wonderful moderate trail that has several historical landmarks.

For my friend Brian who takes the most amazing concert shots, to say nothing of his gladiator shots. Awesome landscapes as well.

A juvenile harp seal on a beach in Massachusetts. Harp seals are found in the north Atlantic and arctic oceans are not seen often around here. Enviromentalists roped off the area and provided the seal with some snow until it returned back to the ocean.

I spent Thanksgiving weekend on the road with my friend, Greg, in Dinosaur National Monument, the only one of the Colorado National Park/Monuments that I had not seen before.
Goodness, did it exceed all my expectations? Of course, the Quarry Exhibit Hall satisfies scientific/philosophic questions and it makes you as hungry for more just like Smithsonian does. But the scenery while driving, or the gorgeous views while hiking are also hard to put in words. Harpers Corner Trail is amazing.
One can hardly believe that the view on the left and the view on the right are taken from the same outlook. I will post the second vista sometime soon. They are both taken with my iPhone and I am happy enough with the quality, but I doubt that there exists a camera to depict the real beauty of the trail.
I recently visited historic Harpers Ferry, WV. which was the site of several Civil War Battles. At one time it was one of two US Armories. Rail transportation as well as the two rivers, the Potomac and Shenandoah were vital for shipping.
Taken from Maryland Heights from the Maryland side of the Potomac River, after a long walk from the town below, which is in West Virginia state. The town is absolutely lovely, and one can still hear church bells, one of the few places in the USA where bells are ringing, the only other one I know is Charleston, South Carolina, more on the latter coming in the future. The town has historical significance, wikilink:
