This is an example of using sunset lighting to harmonize colour (Book of Photography Chapter 2 - Harmony). Wildebeests travel together, being pounded by the dust of a fierce dust storm, and the heat of a setting sun. The sun's light, as it sets, sends reddish wavelengths of light, overruling all other colours, and unifying them into a single hue. Compositionally, one way argue that this is an example of the rule of thirds, as the beasts are lined against the bottom, horizontal third line.
