Smile on Saturday#Spices and condiments

These are dried herbs. To keep the color on them for a long time, I pick whole branches with leaves and let them hang upside down in a dark, dry place with plenty of fresh air. In the jars at the top of the picture are dried leaves, then I pick only the leaves but they fade quickly, the taste and smell remain the same. These are rosemary, sage and thyme from my garden.

"Basilica of "Our Lady of Harissa," a monumental and daring structure that punctuates the sky atop the peak of the majestic mountain range overlooking Jounieh bay.

The shape of the basilica is an architectural crossing between a Lebanese cedar and an ancient Phoenician ship. It is 115 meters long, 67 meters wide and a height of 110 meters.

The building stands at the top of a 500-meter high mountain that overlooks the bay and town of Jounieh.

A mini-bowl from a Portuguese pottery, a vintage spoon from Sylt, and a small portion of a spicy, hot Harissa mixture - captured during a fiery game of soccer on TV (Germany-The Netherlands). High temperature guarantee ;). HMM, dear Flickr friends.

2 weeks ago I watched the movie "2012"... I liked the effects / but the story I found very typical if not a cliche of big box movies!?

Anyway the question here would it be possible for our generation to witness the end of the world? not necessarily in 2012 but any year or day?! I wonder ... :))

St. Paul Basilica, Harissa, ,Byzantine-style, Melkite Greek Catholic basilica, located Mount Lebanon.

This shot is bit tight cropped . I was not carrying my 11-16mm that day and the space was not sufficient enough for me to back up further for a wider shot!

SSC -Leaves

In the beginning I was a little flummoxed as to what to do having posted a photograph of a leaf last week and I didn't want to do an autumnal shot, so where to go now....? Contemplating things whilst lying in bed this morning I came up with the idea of doing something with salad leaves, so here you have it, the start of a salad - just add your choice of ingredients, maybe harissa chicken and croutons with a balsamic dressing? Enjoy.

A Lebanese family travelling on the Teleferique du Liban in a Gondola. The telepherique in Jounieh is a great way to visit Harissa, and gives a beautiful view over Beirut. Taken from my Gondola going up to the top, a fun ride.
