It happens sometimes, that I don't see in the drawings of the sequence of the folding steps, what a designer means. It took me a while before I saw that this Hippopotamus had his mouth width open ;-)

Another three-legged 'abstract' origami animal by James Sakoda with his 'Eight-Point Star' (see first comment box) .

Model: origami Hippopotamus

Design: James Sadoka

Diagrams in the book 'Modern Origami' by James Sakoda

And sooooo after a helluva long time away, me is back! At least in part, been so preoccupied with DIY, Home Improvements and painting, as well as just wanting to take a break from photography, I decided to take advantage of the sudden nice weather after a mild start to Spring. Went for my usual walkabout, which means wondering for miles in no particular direction in search of no particular shot and I accidently happened upon this cemetery.

I have to say, and in well meaning respects, graveyards are actually beautiful places, I do however draw the line somewhat, as I never take shots of actual grave stones identifying people, I never step over nor onto an actual gravesite and always say a quiet thank you, in respects for deceased occupier of the grave.

These flowers were at such an angle I caught the sun rays, which felt like life upon death, hence the word serenade came to mind.

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

I just can't see it anymore.

It's exhausting.

It's not fun.

It upsets me that what came so easily is now so difficult.

I only have one left and I'm lucky to have it.

I'm sorry.

I'm in a bad place, but will leave in time.

Until then, maybe this will help move something along.

Learning how to be still, to really be still and let life happen- that stillness becomes a radiance.

A brief detour to take pictures by the lake is better than any medicine for me. And it was foggy, even at midday, which was unusual. I get excited by how the light bounces around this sort of weather and get a sort of breathless urgency to get out and capture it before the wind blows it away. It so happens it was Tuesday.

Jordan Lake, North Carolina, USA

This happens to be one of the sunflowers from the bird seed. I did plant some colorful sunflowers that will be opening soon. I love how nature takes its course with the bird seeds and gives us not only chances to see the birds, but beauty in flowers also.

What happens to large structures that become derelict? No, this is not about 'me', but who is responsible or can you just be allowed to let something decompose irrespective of how it affects others or the environment? This may be a wreck in a better state than the RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach harbour. Apparently it is at risk of sinking as there are no bilge pumps to drain the lower compartments and they are corroding and weakening. But who can afford the hundreds of millions that might be required to replace the weakened parts and keep it floating? The current owners seem to be suggesting it's not their problem. If it sinks, will they just leave someone else to pay the bills and deal with the wreck? It's a bit big.

This is what happens when you lose your net and your service provider tells you it aint comin back for 5 days... no internet.. no phone... no cable... so I played with this pic I took a few nights ago and edited while half ass watching a bootleg Korean copy of Pitch Perfect 2 that I'm pretty sure was cammed on an airplane... The gods took pity on me and my net returned :P That was some touch and go next level Amish livin...

I happened to be in Stillwater on this day, and seeing the nice updates from the peeps in the field about a late transfer from the CN, I decided to take a little detour north before heading home. Managed to hike to the bridge with only about 10 minutes of waiting before this nice trio of matching SDs pulled across in perfect light.

Why is that foot on the railing of the stairs?

We happened to be out walking along Paradise Pond when the earliest snow flakes from Saturday's Winter storm began to fly. Temperatures were down in the 20s so the snowflakes were compact little balls of ice. These are delicate little clematis vine seeds, on the botanic garden fence, with some of those first, tiny flakes on them.

Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts.

Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts.

Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me...

Anything can happen, child. Anything can be

At first I've thought this is just a female Bleu-billed Duck chasing away some unwanted suitor. But soon I realised that this was something really serious going on. It was that Musk Duck male fighting off a Blue-billed Duck male who happened to encroach on his territory.

in Nature, it happens that something appears, with some 'imperfection".

The Anemone bud was perfect and then... a few petals stopped growing.

I find that makes it only more interesting?

So very beautiful, makes you look twice, and also admire it, the strength?

Quickly one of my faves!

Thanks and have a happy day, Magda, (*_*)

We had Rain, two Day's in a Row.

For some reason, this and a couple of other pics came out really dark and grainy (I probably screwed up a setting or two again). But, instead of trying to fix it or even trash the pic, I decided to go with it.

San Jose, California.

Happened to be driving by Burt's pumpkin farm on the way home today and caught a glimpse of the light from the trees in the background reflecting on the stream under this old covered bridge. Decided to make a quick stop for capturing the light before the sun disappeared behind the mountain. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week. :-)

At garbage disposal. Often this happens over small fires at the wayside...

About the series

All of the Photos were shot in Nepal, 10 years ago on a vacation with very good friends and my Canon 400d DSLR. I now restored some of the photos in Lightroom and for me it was a nice way to commemorate this very special vacation. It was partly a culture shock, but mostly in an entirely positive sense! A truely special experience for me and I will always remember the wonderful times I had! For each photo, I want to share some information about the location, my technique or my editing.

About the post-processing

For editing I've used Lightromm-presets as a basis. I did some adjustments and sometimes I used the brush-tool to highlight individual areas or persons. Overall, I held back with the editing and I tried to keep a “natural look”.
