The breeding season usually begins in March, although if the winter has been mild it can begin as early as January. The female robin builds a cup-shaped nest using moss, hair, grass and dead leaves, somewhere on or close to the ground. Robins begin laying their eggs between mid-April and mid-August, and a clutch is made up of around 4–6 eggs. Chicks hatch after around 13 days. The chicks fledge approximately two weeks later. (Woodland Trust).

De oude vesting Gorinchem met zijn smalle steegjes verbergt veel verhalen. De muurschilderingen in de stegen brengen die tot leven. De meeste zijn van de kunstenaar JanIsDeMan. (JanIsDeMan is het pseudoniem van graffitikunstenaar en muurschilderaar Jan Heinsbroek uit Utrecht.)
Elke muurschildering vertelt een echt Gorcums verhaal. Gorcumers waren altijd al een bedrijvig volkje. Deze hamer en beitel in de Kerksteeg verwijzen ernaar. Pijpenmakers, leerlooiers, pottenbakkers, timmerlieden, bierbrouwers… je vond ze hier allemaal.

Dunnocks spend most of their time hopping around on the ground in search of spiders and insects. They’re often described as ‘mouse-like’, because of the way they creep about in the undergrowth. Dunnocks are usually alone or in pairs, whereas similar-looking House Sparrows prefer to hang out in groups. Dunnocks will occasionally visit feeders, but you’re more likely to see them picking up spilt food on the ground underneath. (RSPB).

Hams are so geometrical. They can be triangular, square and circular. :D
I weighed Peanut today and it is 28 grams.
Before he was 35 grams! :o
Lost some weight, but I don't know how, considering I give him lots of treats. :P

This vehicle was brand new from ADL and was part funded by the part exchange of slightly onle Enviro 400 MMC MC17 HAM. It first operated in public service on Tuesday 2nd September 2025 on route 4 which was previously operated by Brookline and won by Hams Travel during a tender process.

gammon a portion removed from the freezer. cooked a few days ago in the slowcooker, sliced and boxed for the freezer to eat as and when
after cooking the peas i added the chopped cooked gammon and a sliced onion. at this point i turned the pressure cooker back on again. i shouldn't have done so. everything was already cooked.
i burnt the bottom of the pan, realised what was happening, removed the pan from the heat onto a cool surface. it still tasted fine but i'll remember for next time :)
without scrapping the bottom of the pan, i decanted into the saucepan shown in the photo ready to be spooned into boxes for the freezer, to be eaten as and when

Originally built in 1610, Ham House is the creation of an enterprising courtier, William Murray, and his tenacious daughter Elizabeth. As a boy, William was educated with the young Charles I, taking the role of his whipping boy.
Remaining friends as adults, they shared a taste for the latest fashions in architecture, art and interior decoration. William was given the lease of Ham House and its estate as a gift from the King in 1626.
