“He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.”
St. Francis of Assissi
We visited a small handicraft shop for a halfday tour. It is well worth spending to look around – and watch carpenters, like this lovely woman, making hands-on-crafts. The variety of furniture, Buddha images, soft furnishings, 'antiques', decorations, toys, collectibles, souvenirs and memorabilia is, seemingly, never-ending. The woodwork they produced are out of this world.

"And I claim Im not excited with my life any more
So I blame this town, this job, these friends
The truth is its myself
And Im trying to understand myself
And pinpoint where I am
By the time I get things figured out
Ive change the whole damn plan
Talking shit about a pretty sunset
Blanketing opinions that Ill probably reget soon
Ive changed my mind so much I cant even trust it
My mind changed me so much I cant even trust myself"

Phil Collins: Another day in Paradise
Private Sailboat we Chartered while in Bonaire. It is called Bowalie. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a fun outing in Bonaire!
On the Bødal glacier in Loen valley you can enjoy a genuine glacier-walking experience in beautiful West Norwegian surroundings. The whole trip, rated a moderately difficult hike, takes from five to six hours, about three hours of which is spent on the glacier itself. The Bødal valley, with the Bødalseter summer pasture farms and the Bødal glacier, is one of the gems of the Jostedalsbreen National Park. Take a rucksack, clothes, food and drink for a halfday walk. Good strong mountain boots will be an advantage ;-)

FYI: The detail on this is super rad, worth checkin' out (large on black).
Everyone, this is the Rohe Family. We had a halfday photoshoot today. It was totally fun and awesome. They were even so very kind to allow me to post a photo publicly to my 365 project.
This shot was taken at the Powell st. BART station. We eventually made our way to the Westfield SF Mall, the Carousel, then an alley back in the Mission. It was quite an adventure. My wife aptly named it the "Personal Paparazzi Package"
Anyhow, hope everyone had a great weekend. Those who have sent emails through Flickr - I'm still getting to you, I promise.
You strobist geeks, you know what to do ;)

By Sunday, most of the colorful trees here had lost all of their leaves after multiple days of high winds. Plan B was to try some shots more towards the northern end of Half Day Pond. The water in the pond must have cooled down a lot in the previous week. Ice had formed in the shallow areas among the cattails and alders. Sunday would turn out to be a lovely fall day but it sure felt like winter-time at sunrise.
A frosty morning + Relatively warm water = Tons of misty delight. The pond at Half Day looked pretty amazing this morning.
There was a very visible (I thought) row of bright blue Porta-Potties (for some kind of event?) off in the distance in the parking lot on the far right hand side of this shot. I'm very thankful for the mists this morning, the potties are obscured.
The sun was minutes from calling it a day and everything was still and bathed in the last rays of the day.
Y’all know I’m still a minor and uh my class went on a field trip TODAY ON A HALFDAY and uh well this dude there he’s like in his 70s and he KEPT GETTING CLOSE TO ME and at one point I literally started backing up from him a couple times and IT DIDNT nothing

I have been roaming around the preserves lately looking for good spots for these stereographic projections. I was able to capture this image this morning while the mist was just rising off the water. I would have tried a few more but couldn't fight off the mosquitos.
Taken in Marymoor Park halfday before snow storm came to Seattle area.
Marymoor Park is located at the north end of Lake Sammamish in Redmond, Washington.

The glaciers are continuously crushing up rocks and stones. When the glacial water reaches the lakes and fjords, it looks green, especially when the sun shines.

You may not know this, but I have an aversion to posting closeup photos of my face. I always admire close headshots that other people post, but they make me feel ugly and exposed. It goes against every instinct I have.
I did want to post something though with a short life update.
My birthday week has been...insane. I worked on Sunday, worked a 15 hour day on my birthday, had two meetings before my regular workday yesterday....and I've been getting up an hour and a half early every day to run 5k.
I usually rockclimb 4 days a week, but I had to crap out on it yesterday...it was just too much; I had a long workday, my dad was taking me out for a birthday dinner, I had a short story to edit, and my delayed morning run.....I could have fit it all in, but I decided sanity was a better choice.
Today I took a halfday at work, saw Harry Potter with Anna and friends, went climbing, and finished my edits. I'm exhausted.
I just submitted a short story I've been working on for a few months to Machine of Death. I've been thinking a lot about this publishing deal, and I want to submit some short stories to various collections over the next few months to see if I can't get my voice out there even as I'm trying to get my novel out there.
I get the impression that they're getting hundreds of submissions an hour, so it might be a longer long shot than I even knew...but I think my piece is evocative and strong...so we'll see!

Kristina surprised me with a last minute visit on her way home from San Diego!
I had a halfday on Friday, so we had two very busy days of frolicking around town and eating Indian food....now she's home and I am le tired!

Got this idea to do something like this. My friend Brett on the bottom is sliding on his long board while my friend Chad is jumping over him landing on his long board. When we went out to take the picture it had started snowing, Which made a cool effect.

Shot this after a halfday of model photoshoot in Putrajaya .. never knew we have a dam at Putrajaya lake.
popped up here between finishing my halfday at work & collecting the kids from school. the path is one of the muddiest i've seen - like i imagine the somme battlefield to have been- and it wasn't helped by someone having ridden a trail bike through it!
it was chucking it down but luckily my kids had left their brollies in the car so i shielded the camera from the worst of the rain with wee alastairs roary the racer brolly!
to cap it all my (cheap £16) mobile phone fell into the stream and was lost! but incredibly i found a soggy £20note in the bracken when i went off-path to find some more cup and ring-marked rocks once i'd returned to the car!
an odd day.
