I had a whole bunch of these beautiful flocks of pansies in deep violet and purple shades blossoming in my garden in the spring ! Every morning, and these rich vibrant lil fellas would embalm me with the color and its energy and bright happy moods !
And i found my best color :)
I had been shut out for 5 nights in a row on this trip and was willing to shoot anything at this point. As I was running around to the different viewpoints on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon looking for some open sky, I rounded the corner along the drive and hit the brakes for a quickie. :) I set up one light panel quickly and snapped 3 shots then jumped back in and off I went. I used a cooler white balance than usual on this one at around 3200. :)
If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.
Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great weekend everybody!! :)

Had to go back for another visit as who knows whether Colin will make it back this year. He is getting on for a Cuckoo.
This owl had been staring intently at the ground off and on for a period of time but never actually left its perch.

We had a section of our road paved this year and it provided a nice black background for the pine needles and leaves that had fallen during a bit of rain we had. The spacing made for these great patterns. Provided a bit of low key balance to the dried fireworks flowers.
I had a get a fix in recently of sunset over Lake Crabtree.

Had resisted several Robins until I saw this one, something seemed different, the cloud had come over covering most of the sun and gave off this strange like backlight so I took the picture and the Robin decided on this pose when I pressed the shutter release, Almost like a Vulcan.

We had a walk in an oak wood today as the autumn colours from them are stunning at the moment. Unfortunately I couldn't walk for any length of time as my gammy leg was causing me so much gyp. I did though manage to capture a few shots including this of a wonderful oak in full colour.
I had some fun with this one and learned some Photoshop tricks while I was doing it. As soon as I get another boarder staying here I'm going back to the coast. Just seems like there's just a lot of cool adjustments I can do to coastal shots.

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday and some good relaxing time. We had a wonderful time! Time really flies and everything goes back to normal again. Wishing you all a wonderful week and take care! Thank you all for your friendship and support in 2010! Happy shooting and hopefully to many more years on flickr. Love and hugs, Edith :-)
Took this picture at Vermillion Lake in Banff National Park and this was the only day we had some sunshine. Didn't make too many pictures because of that, but had a wonderful time. The weather was quite mild and Lake Louise was the only place with quite a bit of snow for the rest there was only little bit of snow.

Well I had to go and join the Colin the Cuckoo fan club.
Firstly my thanks to Trevor for the helpful information on where to find Colin.
I have to say as a women on my own with my equipment I was very nervous about venturing into an area I didn't know at all. However I needn't have worried and I cannot say enough about the people I met and how helpful they were. I hadn't appreciated how popular Colin was. I put some faces to names I knew, made some new Flickr friends and and got some great tips and although Colin left it late to show he did put in an appearance. All in all a good day.
Had to check out Little Cottonwood Canyon while home for some Rest & Relaxation. Found a couple of new spots and was happy to see the water is down from last month, I think it will be perfect for the shots I'm looking in August.
We had been away for a while, and when we came back to our old country house, I saw this “spot” of about 1 cm² outside on the kitchen window. I thought a young bird had crashed and made this, but later noticed that the spot had changed shape. Taking a better look revealed that the spot was actually many small spider babies. Sometimes close in a bunch, later more spread, then close again. I let them live there until one day the spot was gone, and now I have hundreds of small spiders around my house, I guess :-)
I had been to Tissington to tidy up family graves that week. I still couldn’t believe that my Mum and Dad, who were such a big part of my life, weren’t around any more. I was thinking about that at the same time as arranging flowers and weeding their graves. After an hour, I was absolutely frozen and aching. As I walked back to the car, the most stunning sunset emerged over the pond. I did feel as if my Mum and Dad were standing by me, enjoying it with me, like we did so many times in the past. I grabbed this photograph with my iPhone.
I had forgotten about this photo (and the dress for that matter!) until I discovered it posted on a stranger's photostream. They removed it at my request, but it's kind of creepy the way just anyone can pirate our photos. If you see a friend's photo posted somewhere that doesn't seem right, let them know. Maybe we can at least slow down this nonsense. Now I'm going to dig thru my closet and rediscover that dress!
If i had a star for every time you made me smile, I would be holding the night sky in my hand. You are not just a star to me, you are my whole damn sky.......

We had perfect sunny weather while in Whistler this week.
This suspension bridge was part of a hike we went on. It was the bounciest bridge I've been on. I thought of setting up a tripod on the bridge to shoot the creek below, but that thought disappeared after a second or two :)
Today, back home, we finally have some rain that we so badly need.
Had to post this for a laugh! I was just pulling away from The Welsh Harp yesterday when I notiiced this rather large chap above the
dashboard. I relaxed when I realised it was just a cricket although I guess it could have jumped at me! Anyway it stayed there having a stretch & a wash all the way home (about 20 mins). I took him out & put him in some long grass, I hope he survives! Now been identified as a Roesel`s bush-cricket!
Had a walk around Beth Chatto gardens today with Jayne. The Butterflies certainly loved the magnificent flowers!
We had an absolute blast exploring the Silver Thread Scenic Byway this last week. Fall color was peak awesomeness and I finally got to check out North Clear Creek Falls! Ever since I first saw a photo of these falls years ago I have been wanting to visit. Now that I have I would have to call this a somewhat hidden gem that easily is one of our finest waterfalls in the state.
In some ways these falls remind me of a western Colorado version of Palouse Falls in Washington, which is high praise indeed. We see them lit here by the full moon that followed last week's lunar eclipse (which was also awesome).
Have a great weekend ahead all!
Edit: I have replaced the first version posted with this as the previous had something happen with color management and came across far too warm.
It had been windy again all day and it was sunset time at sea. Dark clouds gathered in the sky and it started to rain heavily. The rain drenched me, my camera and my faithful dog. Fortunately, it stopped for a while, so I was able to photograph the stormy sea and white-headed waves as the sun set behind dark clouds. The rain started again and the thunder rumbled. I'm afraid of lightning. Helmi is sitting next to me completely soaked. Ok let's go, I told her. We ran to the camper and the sweet heat gradually dried us both out.

I had the chance to quickly visit Aoi-Ike and know that I must come back....
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
I'm the breeze that brings you the ocean
Know I'm not far
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
I'm the wind that guides all your motion
And once it's your turn
I'll be on the other side
Make sure to find time to see AOI-IKE
For today I had made up my mind not to submit a photo. Halloween is not my subject. But coincidence helped me. A picture of my granddaughter that she had painted years ago in kindergarten fell into my hands. That's it, I thought to myself, and took it as an incentive to present a photo for today.
Thank you for your nice comments and the numerous asterisks, which I am very happy about.
Had some luck with weather conditions tonight...why go so far...Have a good remaining weekend. Stay healthy and safe. Thanks, Udo.

We had a couple of walking holidays here. A beautiful County, full of diversity, small towns, coastal walks, boat trips and gardens. It has a bit of a mini climate. In the times we visited Seahouses, it has always been sunny or cloudy and mild, we’ve never experienced bad weather there.
Here are some of the many images I have taken, you’ll see what I meant about the skies but also, what a wonderful part of the country to be in.
Had this one laying around, a variation of one I posted a while back. Here i shortened the exposure and turned the indoors light off.
Hometown hero at the bar
Burned out high life super star
You know
Kept a buzz to fill the hole
Loved the lights and stole the show
Someone I used to know
Would stay another round
Someone I used to know
Ran himself in the ground
It’s been a long time coming
Couldn't keep on running
Had to hit rock bottom to know
When you keep on losing
With the path you’re choosing
And it’s time to let go
Of someone that I used to know
Know, know
Know, know
Someone that I used to know
Last week, we had another king tide, as well as 80km hour winds along the water. The wind and waves brought hundreds of logs to Ambleside Beach, as well as destroying the sailing club and some of the seawall, and the pier sustained damage, sadly.
I wish I had been there to witness the power of nature. But I did go there two days after hoping to photograph some of the aftermath. I couldn't get to the pier as it was closed, as was much of the seawall.
So I decided to do an ICM of the logs that had rolled onto the beach. Another photographer was walking into my scene and I thought she looked very ghostly here as she moved slowly along the shore.
Had a wonderful day today folks and started to edit when I came home and lost all track of time, so a late post here, so sorry. Many of this guy which I've never seen before but am sure this is it, many flight images and one's I really wanted of the Barny and others, living in paradise is a plus.
Thank to all for everything.
Had to wait for a lull in the wind and rain to try and smooth the water out. Waves were breaking and I was huddled behind a large boulder muttering expletives attempting to keep the filter clean. Just to the left was a super bouncy labrador who'd been sat patiently in the back of the van for 4 hrs and was now delighting in snapping at a gazillion midges.
Landscape photography:)
I've had a family of thirteen-lined ground squirrels living in my back yard for many years. This female must have had her babies this week as I noticed she suddenly appeared slimmer and she's always scouting for food. These squirrels typically have a litter of 8-10 pups, weighing about 0.1 oz. at birth. Stripes begin to form at about 12 days, and eyes open at about 28 days at which time they leave the burrow to explore the world outside.
Many thanks for your visits, always appreciated!
Please do not use my photos on websites, blogs or in any other media without my written permission.
I had a preview before the sim went open again .. just few words
A must see Place where Zen meets Spring.
Again they did an amazing job. Give your eyes a treat, grab that taxi below and show them some love ♥

Had another great day of shooting the swallows at the lake - due to heavy rain and wind. Got several passes of this tree swallow - or I _think_ it was the same one, based on the state of the feathers in the wings and tail. it definitely seemed undeterred by the damage!
Had a god day with the Barn Owl :)
As always, many thanks for taking the time to view, fave and comment. That's very much appreciated
Had a great, hour-long photo shoot with this bittern who did his call numerous times during that hour. I originally heard him calling from 3 miles away. Still can't believe I found him!
Here is my video compilation of his call.
I had seen in the weather forecast on Saturday that the morning might be foggy. I got up early and started searching the area for subjects. There was a lot of fog - but it wasn't easy to find a suitable subject.

It had been a fairly ordinary day until the breakdown...

With thanks to Paul for the starter image and several of the textures, the men are from the LOC, the other textures are mine.
At the weekend we had high visitors in our garden. A group of admirals sat down on the overripe fruits of our honeysuckle to fortify themselves with the (probably) very sweet juice of the berries. Unfortunately they were too shy to let me photograph the open wings.
Since they first appeared this year and then too numerous (at least 4 at a time) I think they are preparing for their journey.
Admirals are migratory butterflies that fly over the Alps to southern Europe and sometimes even as far as Africa in autumn, at least 1,500 to 2,500 km, to spend the winter there. An overwhelming achievement for such a delicate creature. So I'm happy to provide them with a refueling station.

I had to get up early to go get the hardware for the new door because the only day the guy could get to it was today. So, I saw a lot of clouds and thought maybe I could get a cool sunrise or sun beams coming through the clouds. Got neither but I did spot these Indian Blanket along side the road. I was surprised because it feels like it's too early for them.
The door is hung. and looks gorgeous. I have some painting to do on the trim. I wanted to finish it today but I just ran out of energy. I will post the pics when it's finished.
"If I Had a Hammer (The Hammer Song)" is a protest song written by Pete Seeger and Lee Hays. It was written in 1949 in support of the Progressive movement, and was first recorded by the Weavers, a folk music quartet composed of Seeger, Hays, Ronnie Gilbert, and Fred Hellerman. It was a number 10 hit for Peter, Paul and Mary in 1962 and then went to number 3 a year later when recorded by Trini Lopez in 1963.

An einem einzigen Abend hatten wir klare Sicht. Auf Sommarøy begann mein erstes Polarlicht - Aurora Boealis. Keine Bange, später am Abend wurde es noch viel viel besser.
We had a clear view in one evening. My first Northern Lights - Aurora Boealis - started on Sommarøy. Don't worry, it got a lot better later in the evening.

Tromsø is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Tromsø.
Tromsø lies in Northern Norway. The 2,521-square-kilometre (973 sq mi) municipality is the 18th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Tromsø is the 9th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 71,590 (2014). The municipality's population density is 30.6 inhabitants per square kilometre (79/sq mi) and its population has increased by 15.9% over the last decade.[6][7] It is the largest urban area in Northern Norway and the third largest north of the Arctic Circle anywhere in the world (following Murmansk and Norilsk). Most of Tromsø, including the city centre, is located on the island of Tromsøya, 350 kilometres (217 mi) north of the Arctic Circle. In 2017, the city of Tromsø had a population of about 65,000 people spread out over Tromsøya and parts of Kvaløya and the mainland. Tromsøya is connected to the mainland by the Tromsø Bridge and the Tromsøysund Tunnel, and to the island of Kvaløya by the Sandnessund Bridge.
The municipality is warmer than most other places located on the same latitude, due to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream. Tromsø is even milder than places much farther south of it elsewhere in the world, such as on the Hudson Bay and in Far East Russia, with the warm-water current allowing for both relatively mild winters and tree growth in spite of its very high latitude.
The city centre of Tromsø contains the highest number of old wooden houses in Northern Norway, the oldest house dating from 1789. The city is a cultural centre for its region, with several festivals taking place in the summer. Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge of the electronica duo Röyksopp and Lene Marlin grew up and started their careers in Tromsø. Noted electronic musician Geir Jenssen also hails from Tromsø.
