Please, Folks, if anyone contacts you with an "urgent" message asking you to email them, you need to be super careful and check their stream and profile. Most will have no pics available, or only a profile pic they think is attractive. These folks are hoping you will contact them by email and they can somehow access your computers and hijack all your banking info! It's even worse when you use a smart phone, since they can access all your contacts, too!
Years ago, before they were even as good at this as they are now, I was hacked by a Nigerian. Just chatting on the site made it possible for him to take over my computer! I don't know how it works, but all I know is it was pretty quick and would have been painful had I been doing online banking and such back then! I would try to log onto my computer, would enter my password, and watch it change before my eyes from a 7 digit to a 16 digit one! The hacker was remote controlling it! I had to have it wiped at a computer shop. Had that happened with a bunch of photos and programs, I could have lost everything. Fortunately, it was in the early days of my computer use, and I didn't really use it for much other than going on a few sites and surfing the web.
Flickrmail is a good thing. Use it! If you don't know if you can trust someone, it's a whole lot safer than giving out your email. I understand that yahoo is one of the worst for hackers, too, so if you use Yahoo chat or email, you might want to switch to gmail or something. Be careful whose emails you open, and play it safe. Block people who try to get you to email them, and let everyone know who they are! Let's drive the bad guys off Flickr!
A park Rangers hooked me up with a new location to check out in the Delaware water gap. I had heard of this place but must have forgotten it for some reason. Anyway, being a cloudy day, I figured this was the time to check it out. The place was pretty busy, so I had to compose the shot to keep all the moving people out of the it. I couldn't do anything about the moving plants, they don't listen very well.
Something that looks a little like a sparkler is coming out of Slim's head. Slightly amusing, but really you should have seen him new year's eve.
An event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the classic technology movie, "Hackers." The film was played, followed by 90s-era music and a costume contest.
I've received several emails about this now so here it is:
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority
(SEPTA) is committed to providing non-discriminatory
transportation services to all its passengers, including
schizophrenics, drug addicts, Irish Catholics, hipsters,
homos, prostitutes, gentrifying transplants, raging
maniacs, tourists, obnoxious Penn students, corner boys,
pimps, drunk rich kids who still think Old City is cool, and
terrified suburbanites who tremble with unease at the
sight of everyone.
Any person who is or seeks to be a patron of SEPTA
public vehicle shall be entitled to the same depressing
experience of loud cell phones, obese people eating
McDonalds, parents telling their toddlers to "Shut the
Fuck Up!", and a constant inch-deep layer of urine-soaked
trash and debris.
No person or group of persons shall be discriminated
against on any grounds with regard to routing,
scheduling, or quality of transportation service furnished
by SEPTA, with the following exceptions—race, color,
socioeconomic status, and proximity to suburbs.
Any person who has experienced a cleaner, more
efficient, more extensive , and better managed public
transportation in the U.S. (e.g. Most if not all) can
feel free to notify SEPTA about potential improvements,
which shall promptly be ignored.
My over-exaggerated interpretation of a computer room that belongs to an incredibly devious hacker.
Hacking, in my opinion, is much worse than physically beating someone up. Hackers are definitely a threat, they can steal passwords and use computers as drones to infect other computers. If only they can put their programming skills to a good use, like making a good MMORPG/MMOG or designing a website for a company to use.
The Minifigure is not meant to represent anyone, and if it does than it is nothing but a coincidence.
Here's a handy hack I've been using lately to carry a map and notes along with my hacked Moleskine Weekly Planner notebook.
I use a standard 3" x 5" yellow sticky note to draw a map, with directions, address, phone numbers and whatever else I might need to get to my meeting.
Then I attach the long, sticky edge to the spine side of the Moleskine (left edge) and then slide the loose edge of the stick note under the elastic band (right side), so it won't catch the corners in my pocket.
Once I'm done with the map, I can save it in the back of my Moleskine for later use, or toss it out.
This approach also works well for task lists and any other at-a-glance information you need to see without opening up the Moleskine.
The police finally reached the source of the interference, when suddenly they were interrupted by the door to the hackers lair was opened...
