Was inspired by some of Robert’s Vietnam figs with shrubs covering their backs. Tried it with wookies but it wasn’t a good look, so I went with some normal figs for the technique. Tried to evoke feelings from the Battle of Endor and the big ewok battle. Hope it worked!

Les anciens guérilleros maoïstes ont depuis régulièrement participé aux gouvernement successifs. Mais il faut bien admettre que la situation politique du pays est très compliquée même pour les observateur avertis.
Ces deux soldat photographiés en faction devant un temple de Bhaktapur sont d’anciens rebelles maoïstes, intégrés le plus officiellement du monde dans l’armée régulière népalaise.
J’avais vu des touristes qui tentaient de les photographier au loin avec un 300 mm. Moi, je suis directement allé les voir pour discuter avec eux. L’accueil a été courtois. J’ai donc pu faire cette photo posée.

Bhaktapur (Nepal) - The federal state Nepal abolished the monarchy in May 2008, ending a 240-year dynasty. Former Maoist guerrillas have since regularly participated in successive governments. But it must be admitted that the political situation of the country is very complicated even for the informed observer.
The two soldiers pictured on duty outside a temple in Bhaktapur are former Maoist rebels, officially integrated into the regular Nepalese army.
I had seen tourists trying to photograph them from a distance with a 300mm. I went directly to see them to discuss with them. The reception was courteous. So I was able to take this posed photo.
Mixed feelings. I just love the creativity and expression. But the trees are already beautiful. Maybe leave them alone.
Damage to trees and nature is one of the biggest negatives about this activity. Acceptable if temporary, but if no clean up occurs after the bombing, it's irresponsible behaviour.

A local man makes these benches and puts them in needful places, mostly at bus stops, as the city (and the transit company) does a terrible job of providing seats.

Bendigo Tramways is a living piece of the Victorian history. It has been in operation since 1890 and is now a popular tourist attraction featuring a narrated history tour and hence the name "Talking Trams".
Bendigo Tramways now operate the best working collection of trams in the world and the Bendigo Tramways Museum and Depot is the oldest working tram depot.
The trams are often colourfully decorated and this photo is an example where the tram is decorated with multicoloured, woollen knitted items after being yarn-bombed by a guerrilla craft group!

After a two week separation caused by the bridge being out, I rode a bigger loop to see how it was going. All that rain we had seems to have helped. The cosmos growing out of frame here is an established individual, 2 years old. It grows tall with no hurry to produce flowers, but will put on a big show late in the game.

In 1978, the US-appointed dictator of Nicaragua Anastasio Somoza assassinated Joaquin Chamorro, publisher of a conservative opposition newspaper. With this, the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) maintained control over Nicaragua as Somoza packed his bags for Miami. But Somoza had hardly unpacked his bags in Asuncion when Argentine guerrillas, who considered him their enemy too, found him and put an antitank rocket through the windshield of his bulletproof Mercedes Benz.
Somoza was buried in Miami, at Woodlawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum.
In 1979, the Brazilian newspaper Gazeta Mercantil estimated that the Somoza family's fortune amounted to between $2 billion and $4 billion with its head, Anastasio Somoza Debayle, owning $1 billion.
Hey everybody, here is something entirely different from the rest of the stuff on my photo stream! Our IB history class was assigned to read over the history of Latin America and I thought the sections of US-appointed dictatorships and all our programs we had implemented in order to keep anticommunism a priority were quite interesting.
