This is Fynn! He is 5 months old and our first GSD. I have been away from the group for a couple of years now and am excited to be back. I've gotten away from dog photography for the most part but am hoping the new blood in the house gets me going again. He is the first puppy we have had in a long time and I forgot how much work they can be. Being a large dog I am trying to make it a priority to work with him on obedience so he can have a very good life. He seems to be catching on pretty well. Right now his favorite hobby seems to be playing fetch which is awesome because most of our past dogs didn't really like to play like that.

Sadly Monday I had to say goodbye to my beautiful Poppy, it's such a hard decision to make, but deep down I know it's for the best, I couldn't bear to see her in so much pain.

The vet prescribed antibiotics last Thursday and we was hoping it was a water infection, but poor Poppy had a seizure and then her condition really deteriorated over the weekend,

My beautiful Poppy has been laid to rest in my back garden with all my other babies, under a young Holm oak tree that we planted several years ago, but we all know she is at rainbow bridge with all my best friends and she will now run free of pain.

So happy my girl has made it into "Explore"

Time for a photo was short this week so Fynn and I decided to use our small amount of free time to work on long leash training. Our goal is that he will have great recall and be able to play off leash (supervised of course) in the backyard. I got an extra long lead and we went to work with that but funny enough he really didn't leave my side much. I think he was a little thrown off having extra freedom.

I hope we get to a comfortable place being off leash someday since when we put our fence in our new house we didn't plan on having a large dog who needed extra ball chasing space LOL!

Have a great week everyone!

Surreal Similar Shaded Sea, Sand, Sky Scene Starkly Silhouettes Shepherds’ South Shore Spring Showdown Shenanigans - IMRAN™

The incredible foggy morning on Tampa Bay today was something to savor. I had my iPhone camera ready for whatever interesting visual would transpire. I knew it would turn out to be a unique moment.

A surreal scene. The sky, sea, and sand blending into one made the perfect backdrop. It starkly silhouetted my two German Shepherds.

You can see Kennedy on the left watch playful K2 approaching him from the right. I clicked just as it seemed like a staring showdown, starting shenanigans.

After taking a spill, Sandy (aka "The Taz") gets a little feisty. At about 3x her size, Major was unphased by the flash of her canines.

Actually, both were just enjoying a playful romp in the light snow... a snapshot in time doesn't always tell the whole story.

The focus speed of Nikon's 55-300mm f/4,5-5.6 glass is fairly good under bright conditions... lower light conditions are a completely different story.

I love this beach for the intensity of the waves.

we've gone here twice this year with the intention of getting our monthly shot with some seriously awesome waves that Saxon is quite adept at negotiating,

but both times the waves were flat.

Anyway, this beach is relatively close, not very popular, I do see the odd person and dog but they are usually just passing through . It has shell sand (that I'm not a fan of, but can make for pretty pictures ... you may remember seeing Chester here with the white shells background) and a couple of groynes that Saxon had fun running over.

There is a bike/walking path nearby and as you can see medium-sized residential towers. I do like the city-like atmosphere.

You can also see the ships come in from here. Actually that was how I originally found this beach, working dogs on the Cruise ships we'd sometimes give them a bit of a run around before heading back to work.

This trip we saw some people playing with their motorized mini-boats, one of the guys had to go in to rescue his lol

oh and watch out for the swooping seagulls!!!
