Perhaps I should have titled this, "don't look if you are squeamish." I was surprised and rather grossed out, after uploading shots of a Yellow-shafted Flicker, when I saw this one of the bird seeming to savor the grub it was about to swallow.

In the other side of "Hallstatter see" (Hallstatt lake) a romantic vision of the Grub Castle.

Apparently, more than 60 varieties of birds eat mulberries and this mulberry tree is providing an endless supply for the species in the area. The local Cedar Waxwings seemed to have found it early on and in their sleek attire have taken the tree by storm.

Hope you don't get tired of berry shots too soon!

I appreciate all visits, comments and inspiration you bring to my stream!

Common Whitethroat. Sylvia communis

Yesterday, I was splitting rounds of wood, to let them season through the summer. On the underside of one of the rounds, I found this grub, so I took pictures!

Spent quite a few days just enjoying the dippers. Hopefully now travel has been eased up I can get out to other ares soon.

Mistle Thrush with a grub lunch, Glasgow.

I patiently waited for momma Robin to catch worms and bring it to the nest. There was really only one opening for me to shoot. S Most times she would fly into the main opening with her back at me - occasionally she would fly into the far ide so I finally caught her feeding her chicks.

Added about an hour to my yard work!

NOTE: may be slow with comments Friday - out shooting for the day.

This adult Savannah Sparrow was doing a ground search for grub for its young. I watched for a while as this bird would find food and take it to a juvenile sparrow at Lands End on the Spit at Homer.

Marmot finding some grub to eat there in the Wyoming highlands.

Speaks for itself, does this picture. Taken at Threave Gardens, National Trust for Scotland, Castle Douglas.

Messing about in the garden and this little lady came and sat next to me. No more than a metre away picking mealworms. I grabbed the camera and sat waiting for her to come back. She duly arrived and I managed a few frames as she foraged away.

Sturnus vulgaris, Starling fledgling being fed.

The garden has been swamped with young Starlings and it amazes me that the adults not only know their own chicks but seem to know which one needs feeding next.

Starlings are 'RED LIST' birds so it's nice to see so many of them

was on my camera bag after our walk today

A pair of tree creepers have a bit of a break for food. Was lovely watching them. I'd found myself a tucked away spot in the woodland, wanting to photograph roe deer in the bluebells. Sadly, that didn't happen but was more than happy with watching these two go about their daily lives,

Mr. Robin shows off his prize catch for my special flickr food channel edition.... It doesn't show well in this light, but the robin does have a nice yellow eye ring.
