Ever since I visited this wonderful city (Grenoble), I fell in love with its people, simplicity, history, tradition, and civility. The streets, however, compared to our North American space, are narrow and narrow and narrow. Nonetheless, I’m in love with Grenoble and it’s region. I’ll definitely visit it again. Have a wonderful day....
Grenoble is a wonderful French City rich with history and culture. So much to explore, so much to learn, so much to enjoy. Wish you a wonderful day.
Those tiny cars are quite practical in streets like Grenoble’s; over here they could be easily challenged by more powerful engines.... Anyway, the car’s colour adds to the scene of this capture. Wish you a wonderful day...
Esspresso is delicious in any coffeeshop in Grenoble. In this particular quarter, there are several cafes all competing in excellence of service and product. On Thursdays, Fridays, and the weekend, there is hardly a place to stand up, not to mention finding an empty seat. Watching people talk, chat, laugh, and sip whatever drink they have in hand is a delight.... They are such friendly people too. Wish you a wonderful day!
Like most European cities, Grenoble is a fascinating city of bikes. They are available everywhere... Wish you a wonderful day.

Simple window design in Grenoble, France. This city is wonderful to explore. It is like a magical box; you open one only to find another with more (simple and complex) treasures buried inside. Wish you a wonderful day...
From the archives.... This is taken in one of the most quiet quarter in this beautiful French city. Have a wonderful weekend and a very happy Family Day....

Wish you a warm day... This Burger King restaurant is one of many in Grenoble, France... Even though I haven’t touched any in a long, long time, the fries they serve in this location are distinct...

France, Grenoble, L’isle verte, High rise, Les Trois Tours, Belledonne (uncut)
For some more brutalism, let’s move to Grenoble (I will return to Valence). The ‘Belledonne’ is one of the iconic ‘Les Trois Tours’ residential high rises. Built between 1965 and 1968 by the architects R. Anger, P. Puccinelli, C. Pivot, P. Junillion, M. Loyer, M. Heymann, they’re located to the east of the city in a former military site, now a public garden. The towers seem to be cordoned off the city centre by the giant office slab of the Hôtel de Police. They look like vertical beehives with external cells. The balconies are dynamic and transform the facades into an abstract volumetric playground.
Mosaics and water basins enliven the bases of the towers and entrance halls.
The towers are 100 meters tall, 28 floors high, and have 500 apartments. They were once Europe’s tallest residential towers and bear the names of three surrounding mountain ranges: Mont-Blanc, Belledonne and Vercors.
This is number 15 of the French Summer tour 2024 (Hyères, Valence & Grenoble) album.

The architecture is a beautiful blend of history and rustic charm, with vibrant ochre and pastel hues covering the facades of the buildings. The weathered walls and arched doorways speak of centuries of history, evoking a sense of timelessness. Small balconies with wrought iron railings and shuttered windows add to the character, showcasing the quintessential style of southern French towns. Walking down such streets, one might stumble upon small bistros offering regional specialties like gratin dauphinois, a creamy potato dish, or local cheese platters featuring bleu de Sassenage. The street cafés exude a cozy charm, inviting passersby to sit and enjoy a glass of Chartreuse, a herbal liqueur created by monks in the nearby mountains. This door, located in Grenoble, France, represents the region's historical architecture that blends medieval and Renaissance influences. The deep red color and paneled design reflect the tradition of vibrant wooden doors found in many historic European cities. The semi-circular arch above the door is framed with light gray stone, a classic Romanesque feature that offers both strength and aesthetic appeal. The intricate wrought iron fanlight at the top hints at the craftsmanship typical of the region during the 19th century.
