Many will be alone at home over the holidays, and since that's not something we can do much about due to that nasty virus, why not think of other ways to cheer one another up? It doesn't have to cost much, it is the thought that counts, so perhaps a xmas card? Lets get those cards and smiles out to the rest of the population, instead of the virus.
Stay safe. No matter how lonely you might feel at times, you do matter, so take care of you!

Metro-North P32AC-DM 222 makes its debut run on the Danbury Branch seen here leading train 1841 south at Umpawaug Pond in Redding. This is the latest of the Metro-North heritage wraps paying tribute to the New Haven Railroad's "Green & Gold" script scheme used through the mid 1950s. It was fitting this locomotive made its first run in its new appearance facing south on a former New Haven branch line.
Acacia longifolia is a species of Acacia native to southeastern Australia, from the extreme southeast of Queensland.
Acacia, commonly known as the wattles or acacias, is a large genus of shrubs and trees in the subfamily Mimosoideae of the pea family Fabaceae. Initially, it comprised a group of plant species native to Africa and Australasia, but it has now been limited to contain only the Australasian species.
I took a drive out to the Darling Downs to stay with my brother and to search of sunflowers. Unfortunately there are only a handful of fields blooming at the moment as the drought has delayed the farmers planting. I had heard about this field near Toowoomba that was way off the beaten track so my brother helped me find it. I headed out at 4am the next morning as I wanted to do a sunrise there. I got a bit lost (don't you just love GPS's? I think its time I got a new one as mine always leads me astray) anyway I finally found the field and it was just lovely to be out there. The sunlight that was hitting these sunflowers after the sun rose was absolutely beautiful don't you agree?

The first 930s in AN green and gold to work the Overland were 946 and 945 sometime in 1981 seen passing through Petwood. Three framed prints were made of a version of this photo by AN: one graced the AN Boardroom, one graced the office of the Local Superintendent (my father), and the other has been on my study wall for 40 years!
Unfortunately the image has some spotting damage in the sky area that might clean off, but still worth sharing as is!

The tulip is a Eurasian and North African genus of perennial, bulbous plants in the lily family. It is a herbaceous herb with showy flowers, of which around 75 wild species are currently accepted. The genus's native range extends west to the Iberian Peninsula, through North Africa to Greece, the Balkans, Turkey, throughout the Levant (Syria, Israel, Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, Jordan) and Iran, north to Ukraine, southern Siberia and Mongolia, and east to the Northwest of China. The tulip's centre of diversity is in the Pamir, Hindu Kush, and Tien Shan mountains. It is a common element of steppe and winter-rain Mediterranean vegetation. A number of species and many hybrid cultivars are grown in gardens or as potted plants. The genus Tulipa was traditionally divided into two sections, Eriostemones and Tulipa (as Leiostemones) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip

I was in the backyard when I saw a glint of green on the underside of the deck railing. Turned out to be my first orchard orbweaver. Horrible place for a shot, had to use a flash even though it was midmorning. This was the only angle it gave me. Very pretty with green & yellow and what looks like orange spots on it's underside. It was releasing silk from its spinnerets but froze while I was there. This was the best of a bunch of blurry shots but good enough for an id.

This was an AN publicity shoot for The Ghan that unfortunately got mixed up in a union dispute that saw an older faded loco swapped onto the front along with a standard yellow crew van rather than the special Ghan liveried crew van. I travelled on the train from Adelaide and was dropped off at the Finke River bridge for the shoot. I hadn't seen what the unions had done till I got off the train at the Finke River! IIRC I was allocated 20 minutes to detrain, call the train forward onto the bridge for the shots and then reboard before the train continued to The Alice. Sadly the images were not used due to the loco and crew van. These days some clever Photoshopping would have fixed the problem but sadly not in 1989. The bonus was we got to do the shoot all over again a little later, but unbelievably the union pulled the same stunt with the crew van on the second shoot. (89.084.30_GhanFinkeBridgeMwt)
Tiny spider in the middle of a large web. I often get these in my shrubs. This is a baby one, they do get a bit bigger.

The story of a life's struggle begins in the tea gardens on a mist-soaked, serene morning. A female tea worker skillfully plucking "two leaves and a bud" amidst the lush greenery. The country's traditional tea industry stands firm on the foundation of their tireless labor. Scorching in the sun and soaking in the rain, they fill their baskets with fresh leaves every day, which eventually bring comfort to the cups of countless people worldwide. Hidden behind this familiar, tranquil landscape of the garden are the reflections of their arduous life battles and simple dreams. In every fold of these tea leaves lies the sweat and the yearning for survival of these unsung artisans.
There was a large circular web on the other side of these leaves in a container plant of mine. Spider would hide until something flew into the web. I was able to walk on the other side of the container and get shots of the spider.

Not a lot of color in Georgia this year. Leaves turn from green to brown with a touch of color here and there! When you find some color it is that more special! Wishing a colorful week to all....!

Always a challenge to get the camera to focus on the spider and not the greenery behind it. She may be tiny but she makes a beautiful web.

The snack looks like an assassin bug nymph. So a predator making a meal of another predator. Lots of cool macro drama going on in the garden if you look closely.
