The other day Gerrie was practising his interview skills. As though he was preparing to be interviewed for TV or something. Saying things like where he was hanging out when he found me. What? Really? He found me.
Interesting.
Oh, by the way.... he is the boss of all the bears.
Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday
So Gerrie made Explore
Funny how that works in real life.
The Dutch Reformed Church is one of the most prominent architectural landmarks in Newburgh, New York. It was designed by Alexander Jackson Davis in 1835 in the Greek Revival style common in America in that time period. It is his only surviving church in that style and is considered to be his latest building still standing that largely reflects his original vision.[3] It is located at 132 Grand Street, just north of the Newburgh Free Library.
Its historical importance comes from not just over a century of use as church, but its centrality in the struggle by modern preservationists to save and restore the city's many landmark buildings. Today it is a National Historic Landmark. It was almost razed in the late 1960s, and even today is far from completely restored. Property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970The Montgomery-Grand-Liberty Streets historic district was the first of two to be designated in the city of Newburgh, New York, USA. It runs along the three named north-south streets in the northeast quadrant of the city and includes 250 buildings in its 1,010 acres (4.1 km2).
Much of the district's historical character comes from its historic homes, dating to the 19th century. Many were built by local industrialists to take advantage of the views over the Hudson River available from the neighborhood. Some incorporated groundbreaking design trends pioneered by Newburgh native Andrew Jackson Downing, making the area important in architectural history. It was thus added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Three contributing properties — the David Crawford House, Old Town Cemetery, and Newburgh's main post office — are separately listed on the Register, and one, the Dutch Reformed Church, has been recognized as a National Historic Landmark.

Greatwork :
The power of light
the depth of shadow
gold on black on gold
and on the horizon
ponderous immensity plays tag
with gossamer ephemeron
striking sparks and setting the
land afire with
the smoking ruins of another day
the spirit whispers humility
light rays like bread crumbs
marking our way home
what inferno bursts from imagination
what images we share with our ancestors
no less in awe of light through the elemental
contrasting with the silent obscurity of shadows

New title thanks to Greatwork ~ with his permission. See his words below:
cloud dancer
light prancer
phantom of illumination
floating through the sky
transient burst of inspiration
appearing to all
yet only witnessed by a few
momentary shift
from state to state
showing how
brief a time
we have to dance

Cream of the Crop - MOST views
Thanks to BIRD for these words
oh the power of the sea
that comes to land
crashing with breakers
that mirror mountains
yet waves that summon back the land
a grain at a time
oh the mighty voice
that rumbles from the deep
and tosses mighty man
like matchsticks to the keep
the humbling of the moment
what an expectation when the waves
of where they have been swirling
burst upon the shore
the stories that they bring us
through the foam
oh how it calls us
to be among the mighty waters
that rim our coasts
like a necklace holding a powerful charm

We stood and watched this beautiful goose for a long time while he was hunting fish. I love the little water drops on his head and neck. The water was so clear you could see the leaves below the surface.
Which shall I start with, hummmm, not sure yet. lol I will let you know soon!!! May oil pastels, no watercolors!

The Doors Of Regaleira by Daniel Arrhakis
Detail of The red and gold doors of the main Palace of Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra, Portugal.
All elements have a great symbolism the red or crimson is one of the colors of the alchemical "Great Work" (Latin: "Magnum Opus") or the Alchemical Transformation of Matter; the process of creating the philosopher's stone. The gold symbolize the Alchemical Gold.
Rubedo is a Latin word meaning "redness" that was adopted by alchemists to define the fourth and final major stage in their "Magnum Opus".
Both gold, and the philosopher's stone were associated with the color red, as rubedo signaled alchemical success, and the end of the "Great Work".
The three alchemical stages preceding rubedo were nigredo (blackness) which represented putrefication and spiritual death, albedo (whiteness) which represented purification, and citrinitas (yellowness), the solar dawn or awakening.

"Of all nature's gifts to the human race, what is sweeter to a man than his children?"
-Marcus Tullius Cicero
"Twice or thrice had I loved thee,
Before I knew thy face or name;
So in a voice, so in a shapeless flame,
Angels affect us oft, and worshipped be;
Still when, to where thou wert, I came,
Some lovely glorious nothing I did see.
But since my soul, whose child love is,
Takes limbs of flesh, and else could nothing do,
More subtle than the parent is,
Love must not be, but take a body too;
And therefore what thou wert, and who,
I bid love ask, and now
That it assume thy body I allow,
And fix itself to thy lip, eye, and brow.
Whilst thus to ballast love I thought,
And so more steadily to have gone,
With wares which would sink admiration,
I saw I had love's pinnace overfraught
Every thy hair for love to work upon
Is much too much, some fitter must be sought;
For, nor in nothing, nor in things
Extreme and scatt'ring bright, can love inhere.
Then as an angel, face and wings
Of air, not pure as it, yet pure doth wear,
So thy love may be my love's sphere.
Just such disparity
As is 'twixt air and angel's purity,
'Twixt women's love and men's will ever be."
~ John Donne, 1572-1631~
And from Greatwork:
and here I
lost
the wakeful I
upon the reef
of sleepless hour
I do bequeath
This simple rhyme
To all that leave
A footprint
here
a visitor from
the blessed world
and lo
just such as that
has come
and I thank you

For Brilliant Defects: My first poor attempt at a cutout.
I shot this back in 2003…
Shooting Tips:
One of my cardinal rules when using Photoshop, is never turn daylight into night… and yet in this case I did just that… I took this shot at 11:17am… it was overcast with grey skies… The reason I broke my own rule was I wanted to bring it to another level. Since I was looking at Mannequins with surreal eyes and colored lips, I decided to have some fun and complete this surreal feeling…
Therefore I used my curve to intensify the colors… and to complete the feel of this image I went into my Color Balance and cast a very light blue to bring out her eye color…
Yes my friends, we are allowed at times to have a little fun especially if the subject is not real… Would I have done the same thing to a real person? I don’t think so… To achieve the light blue cast in a natural way outdoors, it would take special equipment and gels…
And here’s another important tip, please try not use “Unsharp Mask” on your images… but if you do… use it in a very, very minimum way…
Remember soft images are also very beautiful…

Britain wakes up a Disunited Kingdom today after Tory Brexiters and Labour heartlands in the north and Wales tipped the nation to Brexit.
A Labour source called for David Cameron to consider his position while Remain-backing Scotland and Northern Ireland called for breakaway votes as the UK voted to leave the European Union after 43 years.
Supposed Remain areas - from Birmingham to Sheffield to Swansea - tipped in favour of Brexit while turnout collapsed to 56% in the heartland of Glasgow.
The pound plunged to its lowest level since 1985 as jubilant Nigel Farage faced outrage for saying Brexit had been achieved "without a single bullet being fired" - a week after Labour MP Jo Cox was shot dead.
Our live updating graphic below shows the progress of each side below. This is what the results mean so far - and look ahead to what will happen if we leave the EU.
