for so many blessings!

Wishing you a blessed and happy day of Thanksgiving!

* I rather enjoy January 2nd, the holiday period is over and hopefully I will not hear the word Christmas till at least September . Today is the day I get out the 2022 seed and plant catalogues and begin planning for the new garden season. I began pruning my roses yesterday , I know there is a lot of winter weather to come but now we are into January Spring feels a lot closer . In a week or so the snowdrops will emerge and the annual cycle will begin again. An image from last June in our garden the Foxgloves in front of a heathy crop of roses

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.

I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD NOT FAVE A PHOTO WITHOUT ALSO LEAVING A COMMENT .

In late March England is awash with daffodils, they are everywhere . In gardens, parks, on roundabouts and the verges in the countryside. Given that ; it is almost superfluous to post a shot of some daffodils.

However there just has to be at least one post to celebrate the 2021 crop. These are just a few of the hundreds in my garden . The thing about daffodils it does not seem to matter how common they are every March they always give the spirit a lift

Why I think this is a beautiful world and I have much to be grateful for - friends who send me flowers while I heal from a small surgery.

Once again, some leaves dipped into the welcoming water of a small pond. End or beginning of the eternal cycle of life on Earth?

Once again: Remember, there is no Planet B.

P.S. I was away for a while, now back home again (for a while).

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my brother-in-law Matt. He was able to go home late Tuesday night and is getting nurses and PT to come to the home. He still has quite the road ahead of him and can use more prayers but we are so grateful that he is home.

This decorative egg was grateful that the others were accepting of it despite its different looking appearance. Here is a group photo of the new friends together. ;-)

Thanks very much for your visits, comments and faves. HCT!

* Given that Spurn Point is relatively close to Hull I guess it's surprising I do not go there often. It is the oddest and wildest part of East Yorkshire with huge skies. However I find it too desolate to really enjoy, though some of my friends who are serious birders love it . This shot was taken on the narrowest parts of the spit. On the left hand side is the North Sea and on the right the waters of the Humber estuary . The little wooden cabin is a shelter in case a high tide cuts you off from the mainland which is not uncommon. You can see the lighthouse which is about four miles further along the spit.

Its a hard place to describe so I will borrow some text from the Yorkshire wildlife trust .

From the Yorkshire wildlife trust website

Spurn Point (or Spurn Head as it is also known) is a narrow sand spit on the tip of the coast of the East Riding of Yorkshire, that reaches into the North Sea and forms the north bank of the mouth of the Humber estuary. It is over 3 miles long, almost half the width of the estuary at that point, and as little as 50 yards wide in places. The southernmost tip is known as Spurn Head or Spurn Point and is the home to an RNLI lifeboat station and disused lighthouse. It forms part of the civil parish of Easington.

Spurn Head covers 280 acres above high water and 450 acres of foreshore. It has been owned since 1960 by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and is a designated National Nature Reserve, Heritage Coast and is part of the Humber Flats, Marshes and Coast Special Protection Area.

The peninsula is made up from sand and shingle as well as Boulder Clay eroded from the Holderness coastline washed down the coastline from Flamborough Head. Material is washed down the coast by longshore drift and accumulates to form the long, narrow embankment in the sheltered waters inside the mouth of the Humber estuary. It is maintained by plants, especially Marram grass . Waves carry material along the peninsula to the tip, continually extending it; as this action stretches the peninsula it also narrows it to the extent that the sea can cut across it in severe weather. When the sea cuts across it permanently, everything beyond the breach is swept away, only to eventually reform as a new spit pointing further south. This cycle of destruction and reconstruction occurs approximately every 250 years. The now crumbling defences will not be replaced and the spit will continue to move westwards at a rate of 2 metres per year, keeping pace with the coastal erosion further north.

When the world looks at me

I wonder what they see

Underneath these eyes

Oh, smiles masquerade as pain

And grow up to be shame

Then leave me with a lie

I know they, they don't see my flaws

Or these hidden scars

And all the mess I've made

Oh, so don't, don't let Sunday fool ya

Here's my hallelujah

Every single day, I'm running to Your grace

Ey, ey, ey

I'm tired of this dirty heart

That keeps our world apart

I need Your loving fire

And even in these church clothes

I can't dress up my soul

To be free is my desire

I'm so far from where they think I am

But when I raise my hands

I'm reaching out for life

Oh, so don't, don't let Sunday fool ya

Here's my hallelujah

Every single day, I'm running to Your grace

I know they, they don't see my flaws

Or these hidden scars

And all the mess I've made

Oh, so don't, don't let Sunday fool ya

Here's my hallelujah

Every single day, I'm running to Your grace

Running to Your grace

Ooh, I need it everyday

This time of year I feel especially grateful. I'm very grateful for all of you, my Flickr friends. Without asking, you give me joy...and that joy turns into a creative attitude:)

I think we all believe that grateful living is a celebration of the universal give and take of life. A limitless yes to belonging.

And I feel a very special sense of belonging with all of you, my Flickr friends.

Apologies to our native brothers and sisters. Finally! Today we celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day. Sorry that this step took so long, but grateful that we can begin or try to make amends.

Thank you for looking

** This is my final shot of this most beautiful lake, its sadly missing the famous view of the “Valley of Ten peaks” that should be in the background of the shot, the peaks are hidden by thick low cloud . It was pretty disappointing not to see that iconic landscape at its best but the colour of the lake is still pretty incredible I used a tripod for this shot so I was at least able to keep the ISO fairly low I did not adjust the colour

Located in Banff National Park, about 8 miles from the town of Lake Louise, this glacier-fed lake is famous for its breathtaking turquoise waters, which get their colour from the refraction of light off rock flour (fine rock particles) carried by meltwater.

I knew that I would post my last pick on May 18th when I took it and I did a lot of research for the days leading up to SH's explosion and seeing all that beauty blasted away in seconds reminds of how glad I am to be living here in this time while Rainier is in it's prime. Breathtaking beauty everywhere you look and sometimes you don't have to look too hard, just wait for the light. :-) Absolutely must be viewed large, that means you too Franky! :-)

I THINK that I caught up with everyone after having been gone for days, if not let me know.

I'm grateful to be feeling better this week so I took a walk at my local botanical garden to see what was blooming in the desert in November.

Deep Dream Generator

It was summer and very hot, we heard on the radio that the horses on the Bile plateau lacked water, and we took some 200 liters in canisters, as much as could fit in a personal car. It's not much, but a small drop and a sign of good will. Fortunately, it rained tomorrow and the puddles from which the horses drink filled up at least a little. These two beauties looked at us gratefully and posed for this wonderful photo.

Today I'm grateful for the colors of Lake Superior rocks I've collected over the years and I’ve put them all around my house.

Color are the SMILES of nature.

The snow is falling and the sun sets at 4:30pm - so it seems fitting, at least for today to post a dark image. I had a good time with this crow, we sort of had a moment together. I love this pose, even with the head out of focus. The feathers look like a work of art - perhaps this is why I am so fascinated with birds:)

Have a lovely weekend! And I'm incredibly grateful for your visit:)
