This little stumbled upon a bit of salmon scrap while following mom and siblings along the riverbank. He/she decided to stop and do a little taste test along the way. Don't want any of those scraps going to waste now do we!
It's a known fact, once the sun sets the city of Gotham faces a rise in crime. Even the most kindest citizens turn to criminal tactics to help save society from all that is wrong... One of those citizens is known as, "The Grappler."

Hello amazing people!!
Today is a black & white day at Color my World daily Group and a usual processed to the max day at Sliders Sunday.
And like every week so far, I had a last-minute inspiration for a black & white egg picture! We all know, by now, that my love of eggs is very, very big (a little bit smaller than the love for my children and husband but almost as big as my love of chocolate or gin & tonic). I can’t resist an egg… or a gin & tonic…or a lemon but I prefer eggs!
So, when I saw this flying egg passing by (yes, we had some gin & tonic last night, my husband and I … please don’t judge me… I caved in and completely give up exercising or eating healthy or shaving my legs during pandemic…it works wonder for social distancing) ...
So when I saw this flying egg, I could not resist and I did catch it with my grappling hook (which is a very precious toy of one of my sons, so I have to be very careful not to break or loose the damn thing lol). So now what, we have a flying egg, waiting for us ??…. We have a ladder…. passport (do we still need it, even if the earth is closed ???) … toilet paper (few extra rolls, yes, they are bulky but if you take the cardboard tube out you can squeeze them, and they will take half the space ;-)!) … gin & tonic… few Cuban cigars… chocolate … lemons…. toothbrush… extra underwear (don’t forget, you can wear them recto-verso if you have to and this way you have twice as many underwear!!) … and we are ready to go …STOP: no corona virus on the flying egg … eggs are full of nutriments and they will not allow corona virus to board with us…
But where will we go? What is your favorite place in the whole world?? Where would like to go right now?
Stay safe and healthy my friends wherever you are!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts / positive vibes!! It is truly appreciated! I sincerely hope everyone is all right and you all have everything you need to survive this with a smile! Have a great day and see you soon!!
This pic was basically a test of my photoshop skills and I think the floating stormtrooper came out pretty good even though the reflection got kinda weird, but I need to work on the lightsaber effects.

The trees that are being loaded onto this tractor trailer were likely levelled during the derecho that swept through the Ottawa area last May. I spoke with the truck operator who told me that these logs were destined to be processed at a saw mill some 5.5 hours away, in the Beauce region of Québec.

I kept putting off uploading this shot because the Goshawks were a bit distant. But it is such an unusual shot with one bird flying upside down and raising its talons, that I had to post it. These are both immature Goshawks tussling over a territory, with the Peak District Moors in the background. I almost called it a dogfight, and the dictionary does define dogfight as close combat with two aircrafts. Why dogfight though? Well the etymology suggests that a fight between two women was known as a catfight, and as most fighter pilots were men, they called aircraft battles dogfights. It also mentions the similarity to two dogs chasing each other's tail.
I mentioned recently that Black-tailed Godwits spent a lot of time fighting, and someone asked if it was like sword fighting. Well not really as this one had jumped on the other one's back and was nipping or plucking, I'm not sure which. But the victim was giving a great display of his wing bar and tail pattern. If you are questioning my choice of crop, I didn't have a choice as this was straight off the camera. I was using a 700mm prime and they were right in front of the hide. The Black-tailed Godwits were keeping company with Ruff, which are famously pugnacious. Yet the Ruffs seemed perfectly chilled while the Godwits grappled. It surprised me as all of the Godwits (and Ruffs) were in non-breeding plumage so should not have high levels of testosterone at this time of year. This was taken at Martin Mere in Lancashire.
A grapple, (a real word) is, or was, an attempt to entice more children to eat fruit. An apple was "soaked" in grape juice so that the apple was infused with grape flvouring.
One thing I did notice when setting up this shot was that having cut the apple in half and scooped out the core so that the grape could sit in the middle, a few minutes had gone by, 5 at the most, and the apple was alread going brown from the centre.

Excerpt from Top 150 Unusual Things to See in Ontario:
After the middle of the nineteenth century, demand for construction material skyrocketed....The most readily available materials for construction were the many rocks and boulders, particularly well rounded and often flat shale, that lined the shore of Lake Ontario.
Beginning in the 1840s, stone-hooker boats would depart the many ports along Lake Ontario from Whitby to Port Credit. These would usually be manned by four men with grappling hooks to lift the stones onto the barge....Smaller stones would be used for road ballast, flat stones for pavement, while large round rocks would end up in building foundations.
Nearly all vestiges of the trade have vanished. One exception is a small stone building at 49 Bronte Road in the old village of Bronte, formerly a popular restaurant known as Stoneboats and constructed from these stones by a one-time stone boat captain.
