It was a cloudy day. Just an hour or so after sunrise. The sunrise was disappointing, however, I stuck around a little while to see if I could get a little more light and white clouds. The setting was at Schwabacher's Landing near Jackson Hole, Wyoming with the Tetons for the background. I was able to get a few good reflections. Hope you enjoy it.
The Grand-Place of Tournai (Belgium)
does not always have this place open with its welcoming terraces. Between the first and 4th centuries, part of the square served as a cemetery and, during excavations undertaken during the development work at the end of the 20th century, the remains of a Carolingian chapel were found.
For centuries, it will be outside the first ramparts of the city whose historic heart was closer to the Scheldt. After the abandonment of the cemetery due to the expansion of the city, it is transformed into a market place. In 1187, when the King of France Philip Augustus gave the city a charter guaranteeing it communal freedoms, the Tournaisians chose the market to erect a Belfry. The Grand-Place became the centre of communal life that we still know today.
From its particularity of being triangular in shape, it is also so by the Flemish architecture of the houses that form a harmonious whole and makes it the most Flemish of the Walloon cities.
While I generally prefer to get the shot without bystanders, I think the people in this shot help lend a sense of scale to the size of the Grand Canyon at this particular spot..
One of the famous barns in Grand Teton national Park. Autumn was late this year so we still had some beautiful colors in the trees in late October.

This view of the Grand Canal is the not the most famous or photographed side. Standing on the Rialto Bridge everyone photographs the classic shot facing the other way.
One day after lunch, and armed only with a pocket camera with a panorama setting, I shot this view.

Unfortunately, it's been far too long since I've been to the American Southwest...

The colors of the Grand Canyon constantly change throughout the day and seasons.
Most rock layers contain iron, which imparts subtle hues of green, yellow, and red to the canyon walls.

The sun setting over the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. This is one of the most beautiful and awe inspiring places on the earth. The peace and tranquillity felt here at any time is amazing but the colour and shadows on the rock formations at sun set take your breath away.

I've been watching this Double Crested Cormorant all year. She is blind in one eye and at times I've seen her sit on the edge of this landing and just look around as if she doesn't know I'm there.
I read the oldest known Double-crested Cormorant was at least 22 years, 6 months old; it was banded in Ontario in 1984 and found in Louisiana in 2006.
With all my heart I hope this grand bird finds a safe place for the winter. She has captured my heart...
