Playpus Rock got its name from generations of school childred from the nearby Clackline school.

This male Cape May Warbler is a long way from its wintering grounds in the Caribbean. A mega rarity, first sighting of this species in this part of British Columbia.

Inland tug built in 1958.

After a little incident the the other week when he decided to snap the long line and end up in the middle of nowhere on a snowy hillside wrapped round a tree and spending a rather cold night alone (not that he was bothered in the least it seemed) I've invested in one of these little gadgets. .. all I can say is wow! (pitpat) I suppose it also means my other half can always see where I am ... and be impressed with my fortitude when she sees me zooming up and down the hills!! :)

It was a snowy day but still some lights on a high peak of Zugspitze, Bavaria, Germany.

GPS might not the exact point of this photo.

Have a lovely day everyone! ❤️

Several Locals depart from Grand Junction, CO. I've already shown the Local to Parachute and the well-known Potash Local here. Today I'd like to introduce the Montrose Local: Once a week, on Tuesdays, the train leaves Grand Junction in the morning. Two Union Pacific GP locomotives are used. It first travels to Delta, where a silo (probably for grain) is serviced. The two tank cars are then parked directly at the Delta station. Only the timber car running directly behind the locomotives is destined for Montrose. While occasional coal trains also use the line as far as Delta, the Local is the only train on the remaining stretch to Montrose, and the track is in correspondingly poor condition; the maximum speed there is 10 mph.

The picture shows the train pulled by UP 1538 and UP 1358 (both GP40N) on the "fast" section between Grand Junction and Delta, more precisely at the Gunnison River near Whitewater.

This is the Anywhere Map with Pocket Plates using the Samsung Q1 ultra.

I just purchased this about a week ago from Anywhere Map and received it a few days ago. I used it yesterday and it worked great. There is just a ton of STUFF this system has and can do… still playing with it trying to get the hang of it.

It has different screen views… VFR, IFR, terrain and can have XM weather overlaid on top of any of these. I didn’t get the XM weather package, yet. I want to see how the system works first.

There is two references to churches in Colton, but I speculate that this one is St Luke’s Church of England.

On 30 April 1905 the foundation stone was laid by Mrs John Lewis. The land for this church had been donated by P.P. Kenny. The Church was opened and dedicated on 29 October 1905.

If you can confirm or give correct details, I will be happy to amend.

Birds are moving, never know what can show up, this mourning saw the Eagle hit the water ...no shot .... then land in a nearby tree. After the shot I noticed the bands on his legs and then saw the transmitter on his back...crazy..

I have the band number and sent photos to NYSDEC hopefully get some info, would be nice to know !

This shop in Fore Street, Castle Cary was reconstructed in 1804 as a general store for Antony and Ann Nancolas whose initials appear on the datestone. It is constructed with local Cary stone. The shopfront was inserted probably c.1883 when White's ironmongers was established in the premises. The interior hardly changed for the next hundred years.

I’m using my film scanner quite a lot being more or less “confined to barracks” due to the current crisis.

It wasn't a Bird. Nor was it a plane. It was The Great Protector. When he was younger, Randy Ward realized his name was his destiny. He told me his name means the Great Protector.

Superman is a storm chaser. His Supermobile is equipped with radar, GPS, Ham radio and other communication devices. When he is not in uniform he must carry a small hip mounted handheld VHF/UHF transceiver to be ready for any approaching storms.

I asked Superman if he caught any footage of the tornado that swept through my town last October. Unfortunately he was working at the time, but he sensed something big was about to happen. I could tell that missing the only known tornado to pass through our town disappointed him greatly. I learned several things from talking with the Man of Steel, such as staying southeast of a storm to avoid the hail.

Superman is a bit of a local celebrity, known by the police departments of the surrounding parishes. He recently began assisting at children's birthday parties, and even had an offer to attend a bachelor party as a special guest. He had to turn that invitation down, however. He has a certain image to uphold, he informed me.

Superman was intrigued when he learned I had photographed Batman and he agreed to come by the studio for a quick photoshoot. Before we could go any farther with the plan, however, rain droplets began to gather on the surface of the Supermobile. And like that, Superman was gone, heading southeast towards the approaching clouds on the horizon.

Thank you Superman for being the 173rd stranger in my 100 Strangers project. I hope to work with you in the future. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the flickr group page.
