A photo taken during our family tour of the South Island last month. Vivid turquoise water of the Hokitika River rushes through a magnificent granite gorge lined with native bush.

This was a little spot that we camped at for a couple of nights...we were lucky, we had all to ourselves. Sadly the small amount of water in the gorge was not safe to swim in, due to some microbes that could cause brain damage. We risked using it to wash our feet!

The Aare Gorge is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Switzerland. The river has eaten deep into the rocks. There are many glacial mills - the walls of the gorge are rubbed bare in some places. At a few places the gorge is only a few meters wide - there it is relatively dark - in other places it is wider and the sun falls on the river and the rocks.

It may not be so smart to take photos there - all places have been photographed from all sides by countless visitors. But since my daughter really wanted to go there again, I thought to myself: It's an opportunity - so take pictures!

We took my two cousins for a drive along the Gorges du Verdon yesterday. We stopped earlier in Moustiers for a coffee while a ferocious thunderstorm raged outside. Once it had abated we ran for the car and set off. The rain ceased but the lightning continued. It was spectacular (and a little bit scary). When we came back the same way about two hours later we were greeted by this. Quite the contrast to a few hours previously.

in Snaefellsns penisula, Rauðfeldsgjá Gorge is a natural formation, narrow fissure several hundreds of meters into the mountain, with a little river at the bottom After about 70 meters you meet a little waterfall and have to do some climbing to get farther into the mountain. That is as far as I have gone. Still it is incredible with the narrow walls several tens of meters high around you.

Hi my friends! It was a long time ago when I posted my last photo here. And I missed you!

Today I felt I should come back and say hi. It is a sad moment for us here in Oregon. Wildfires are devouring part of our beloved Columbia River Gorge and that is heartbreaking. The air in Portland is unhealthy and a lot of people in the Gorge are impacted.

So I decided to post this photo from last year when I was there enjoying Fall colors in one of my favorite areas of the world.

I hope this ends soon. Praying for raining and for the people fighting the fire.

Coming back to me I haven't used my camera in months! There were some reasons and it is a long story but I hope I can come back. I'm really missing photography, part of my soul feels empty without it. Next Saturday I will be taking senior photos of a Friend's son so I hope that helps me to come back.

During this time off I was working out a lot, running several races (5k, 10k) in order to feel stronger because I'm 40 now! :-)

Well I will be visiting your photos to catching up a little.

See you soon.

The bright sun made it hard to capture without flares. Lovely little area.

Sadly, the weather became misting, fogging with heavy rain, our uphill to the Snowndon mountains wasn't a success event.

We spent the day at Taughannock Falls State Park with the splendid 400 foot gorge walls and 215 foot waterfall.

It was another beautiful day, yesterday, so hubby and I decided to do our favorite drive on Hwy 14 along the Columbia Gorge, on the Washington side returning home on the Oregon side.

The view of the Atigun River Gorge looking south into the core of the Brooks Range, seen from the front of a helicopter flying over the north ridge. The serrated ridge across the valley (~ 5000’/ 1500m) is composed up of the Fortress Mountain formation, a mix of marine and non-marine sediments, including, siltstones, conglomerates, and carbon rich strata with carbonized plant debris (logs/ coal) of Cretaceous age. Marine fossils (molluscs) occur in the lighter colored sediments. The influence of water in the drainage channels on vegetation is clear from the darker green stripes leading to the Atigun River. The higher peaks (all un-named) in the back are around 7000’ / 2100 m, some of which have remnant glaciers clinging to their slopes. At this latitude (68.5˚ N) the sun doesn’t set during the summer- this was taken around 9 pm, with the sun still fairly high in the WNW.

Gorge walks are great fun, you are guaranteed to get wet, but with the right equipment, it is very rewarding to complete.

A view of Upper Glacier Gorge in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. From left to right: Half Mountain and Storm Peak, with Longs Peak totally obscured by clouds, followed by the Keyboard of the Winds and Pagoda Mountain, and (I think) Thatchtop cut off on the right. I believe we were on Flattop Mountain Trail when I took this, though we were on a guided snowshoe hike so I lost track of where we were exactly! Some added noise in the sky from the huge snowflakes falling as the sun began to set.

Yesterday I had a day on the Somerset Coast with Louis Goldman, on the way, we stopped off at Cheddar Gorge for a quick visit.

It's such a stunning view up here, my previous visit was marred by low cloud and fog so I didn't really get a great shot. This time though, we had some decent cloud and after a short while, we managed to get some lovely side light on the gorge.

I still want to get up here for sunset one evening, but I think I'll have to wait until later in the year as the sun is setting too far to the south at the moment.
