What I love about the composition that it creates a tension between the two main subjects. There is a huge void in the middle that can't be filled. The eyes go from left to right an right to left. Tried something new here. Early one morning while weaving through the fjords, a cell of dark clouds roiled across the sky. The low sun kept them in impossible colors and the air vibrated with a coming storm. This is up on the edge of the arctic circle where one fjord may be covered in clouds while the next is wide open and clear. There are hundreds of little microclimates that change from one hour to the next, so if things don't look good in one fjord, just spend 30 minutes driving over to the next one, and maybe something different will present itself. Surely by now, you see why I like Iceland so much in the summer...

Here's the story: I accidentally smashed my $1,600 24mm 1.4 L-lens after taking it out of my backpack. Since I always look on the bright side of things, I saw this as a challenge to grow. Let's create a set with a broken cam that can't even focus anymore. This is what I came up with:

A trippy & abstract photo set dipped in red about broken characters captured with a broken lens by a former broken soul. I took this set in the drug-filled, sex-addicted veins of the most liberal city on earth: Amsterdam! An incredibly intense 3-week journey of getting to know all drug dealers and sex workers personally, feeling the liberating, but sometimes rather creepy vibe on the streets and eventually being accepted as the creative soul of this unique district.

My baby brother got into my high school! So excited for him...though I have a feeling I'm going to rue this day in a year when he won't get out of bed to get on the train in the morning...

Anyway, I had a stressful week. My AP grade dropped to a B and I'm kind of upset about it. Hoping next week will be better. I get to pick my classes for junior year; I know I'm taking AP English Language, AP Government, Math 3, Math 4, Biology, and Spanish 3, but I can't decide what my final period should be filled up with. I'm in between a second year of theater, a photography class for beginners (which I don't really think I am) or a half year of creative writing with a half a year of journalism. Too many choices...I guess that's better than not enough though.

Wow, my first Explored image. Thanks everyone!!

This is one of the first shots from last evening. So I once again had a one stop Neutral Density to get the slower shutter speed for the water motion and a 3 stop soft graduated ND for the sky. I also did some lightroom work with the white balance to bring up the sand, a little dodge and burn here and there but not too much.

.6 sec exposure, f/13, ISO 100 @ 13mm.

Anytime I add a filter with the GND setup I can only go as low as 13mm on the lens or I get some vignetting. (13mm = 20mm with the crop sensor)

Went up early in the morning on top of the Goldeck - 2.142m - this morning and this might be one of the most fascinating moments in 2013 at least till now. Usually I am not that used to getting up that early but stayed up the whole night so this was really a perfect decision. Can't remember whether I've ever been on top of a mountain at that time of day but the lighting conditions are breathtaking!

G+ is a place many of us know and love. Now condemned to this.

Falsely labeled but eventually made a self-fulfilling prophecy by Google, first killing off the functionality, disrupted social lives and in the end set to destroy the social graphs (AKA life works and memories) from the once thriving and wonderful land of Google+.
