It is nice to know that I do not have far to travel to take a sunset picture. I nearly walked away from this one but pleased that I stayed for the first spectacular sunset of 2015

A little more than a year ago, I was taking pictures after work with my Nikon D40. I noticed the sky, and wanted to capture a sunset picture. Well instead of watching my footing I was looking at the sky trying to figure out what would make the best picture. In the process, I stepped in a hole, fell on the camera and broke the lens. Fortunately I wasn't hurt seriously, but it made me sad to lose a camera I enjoyed.
I loved using that camera, and have really missed it the past 12 months. It was my entry DSLR camera, and I always thought for an older camera, it took excellent pictures.
Over the weekend I found a used D40, and lens for what I thought was a great price, at a used camera store. I made the purchase online, and the replacement camera arrived today
For my test picture, I thought it appropriate, to try for the sky in the same area where I fell a year ago. So, I watched the ground this time, got my footing, and took this shot. It's a year late, and a different sky, but here is the picture I captured tonight of a beautiful sunset.
It's great having a D40 back in my lineup of cameras, and wanted to share my story.
