Backyard delights..
One more for my 100 flowers 2024 collection and another surprise arrival in my garden, which Plantnet has identified as Galega officinalis or Common goat's rue / French lilac.
I chose the goat's cheese terrine as my entree. The food served at the Hotel Baudy could be described as rustic French cuisine. Perhaps not presented as fancy as in some city restaurants however the food was full of flavour - absolutely delicious.
This terrine was creamy with a hint of chives complimented by the olives, pesto and roasted capsicum. I would love the recipe.

Pakistan recently celebrated 'Bakra Eid' on the January 1st, 2007 this time. (Note: The date varies every year. It coincided with the New Year's this time round).
Celebrated on the 10th day of the 12th month in the Muslim calendar, Eid-ul-Zuha or Bakra Eid, is one of the most important festivals of the Muslims. Muslims around the world celebrate this festival. One can either sacrifice a goat or a camel, depending on their financial status.
The significance of this event lies in one of the events that happened to Abraham.
Allah (swt) commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son. Prophet Abraham did not hesitate to prove his faith to Allah (God). Pleased with his faith and willingness, Allah commanded a ram to be sacrificed instead. To commemorate Abraham's devotion to the Almighty, a ram is thus ritually slaughtered on Eid-ul-Zuha."
The sacrificed meat is then consumed and distributed among relatives, friends, the needy and the destitute.
This is what the goats are usually fed. :)

Day long trip up to the Blue Ridge Parkway in western North Carolina to photograph the early Summer wildflowers. The sun was in and out when it wasn't threatening thunderstorms, but all in all, it was a very successful day.
I began the day in upper Greenville County, South Carolina and worked my way north through the Pisgah National Forest to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The star of the show was the Turk's-cap Lily. It seems that they are increasing in numbers from year to year.

I made these primitive Goat's Milk soap bars in honor of our military men and women. I used Satsuma scent from the Body shop and it smells wonderful!

Goat’s milk cheese called "pélardon": you have to choose between various kinds of pélardons (from the freshest to the driest) and don’t forget the bread!

The view from Goat's Peak on Mt. Tom in Easthampton, MA. It was a beautiful day (warm and sunny). Probably the last nice day we'll have this year in New England.
This is my first attempt at a back-lit shot. I'd like to do a setting sun next.

Found a number of these at. Smith's Bird Sanctuary. Although not a new species for me it's a better frame compared to my 2009 image.
Species from eastern North America

This is a highly invasive plant that occurs in all our natural areas in the city. It takes over and prevents any native wildflowers from growing. It does have an attractive flower and a huge seedhead similar but larger to that of a Dandelion. Yesterday afternoon, I went along on a walk at the Erlton/Roxborough Natural Area with a Naturalist and a couple of others, accompanied by a reporter/journalist from the Calgary Herald newspaper. He is writing an article on how invasive plants are destroying our natural areas and that more needs to be done immediately to try and save our native plants/birds/etc. from destruction and eventual extinction. He asked me to send him a photo of a native plant and of an invasive one in case he uses them in his article. This is the invasive plant photo I sent him. The native plant was a Wild Bergamot.
