Goat's-beard is a noxious weed that overtakes native plants. Unfortunately, it does have quite an attractive yellow flower and a beautiful seedhead when opened, a little like that of the dandelion, but larger.

This was at Goat's Head Beach along California Highway 1. It was stormy and misty, and I couldn't believe how high the waves were shooting towards the sky. This was just one example of how high they got. Hope you enjoy this bit of powerful feeling moment, as much as I did. To hear the sounds and smell the fresh breeze, was an added benefit to this wonderful family day. Hope you enjoy these blessings too.
Looks a bit burned. Actually, it was a bit burned, but luckily it didn't taste burned. :-)

Today's tasting adventure was in Kingston's farmer's market behind City Hall at Fare on the Square.
12 local restaurants were paired with local producers and challenged to show the best of what locavore cuisine can be.
The resulting tastes were fantastic!
My wife volunteers for the Rose Wolf Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitaion Center, which helps save abandoned, orphaned or injured young animals. This baby jackrabbit's mother was killed, so he was brought in by people who found him and hand fed goat's milk from a syringe until he was big enough to eat regular food. He shared a cage with a baby squirrel who was likewise orphaned, and the two bonded and became good buddies, cuddling together to sleep. This little guy's ears lay down at this point, but stood straight up within a couple weeks. Here's the link if anyone wants to learn more.

Pakistan recently celebrated 'Bakra Eid' on the January 1st, 2007 this time. (Note: The date varies every year. It coincided with the New Year's this time round).
Celebrated on the 10th day of the 12th month in the Muslim calendar, Eid-ul-Zuha or Bakra Eid, is one of the most important festivals of the Muslims. Muslims around the world celebrate this festival. One can either sacrifice a goat or a camel, depending on their financial status.
The significance of this event lies in one of the events that happened to Abraham.
Allah (swt) commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son. Prophet Abraham did not hesitate to prove his faith to Allah (God). Pleased with his faith and willingness, Allah commanded a ram to be sacrificed instead. To commemorate Abraham's devotion to the Almighty, a ram is thus ritually slaughtered on Eid-ul-Zuha."
The sacrificed meat is then consumed and distributed among relatives, friends, the needy and the destitute.
This is what the goats are usually fed. :)
