Chestnut-sided Warbler

This was one of my goals. To find and shoot a nice male in breeding plumage. He was the third goal of an epic day at Delaware State Forest, Pike County PA.

We can walk our road together

If our goals are all the same.

We can run alone and free

If we pursue a different aim.

Let the truth of love be lighted,

Let the love of truth shine clear.

Sensibility, armed with sense and liberty,

With the Heart and Mind united in a single perfect Sphere.

Went out with good friend Tim Poulton with the specific goal of setting up this scene with his Gretsch Guitar. No guitars where harmed in the making of this. The base of the guitar was carefully masked up.

45 minutes before Sunrise looking west and seeing vehicle traffic on Highway 189. The yellow glow is Heber City lights reflecting off a low cloud bank.

I am not the most coordinated person and walking in the water while its 27 degrees (-3c) outside an hour before sunrise over a rocky bottom was a challenge. The primary goal was not a full water immersion, and secondary was a good photo.

Anymore when I go railfanning, I set out with a specific goal in mind. It might be locomotives, signals or legacies from generations gone by. Such is the case seen here. On a recent weekend to visit friends in northwestern Indiana, I wanted to get pictures of M326 eastbound at the former Pere Marquette coal tower at New Buffalo. Sunday morning was our opportunity for photos. Around 9:00 am, M326 came charging east under the coal dock, built in 1929-30 by Roberts & Schaefer Co. of Chicago.

When I first got into photography many years back. I thought the goal was to take perfect pictures. Then as time went on, I realized what I wanted. To strive for images that I found the most intriguing. Whether I've done that or not. Can be questioned. But, I'm going to try to keep photographing my way anyways.

Go in a hurry to the goal

It was simplicity that was the goal of this shot. A rock, a cloud, and the ocean. "Less is more", they say when it comes to life. Until it was discovered that a very wealthy individual coined the phrase, attempting to convince the less fortunate to accept their lot in life.

However, this simple phrase is true in photography. eliminating clutter does remove distractions. This is what the phrase is meant to illustrate. These are the simple goals that any photographer desires.

Day 68 - Close to Home

Broadoak Park, and this spot is about 10 minutes walk away, although I have to cross a main road which can take ages.

Shooting macro is incredible fun

Suddenly things are popping up

I see a person and a ball

What do you see?

(Obviously not easy to say anything here, as I see comments are coming but they keep disappearing all the time....)

Just a little more Saturday playtime after a couple of cups of coffee.

Jet with contrail through the goal posts. Alviso, California.

I haven't got any grand travel plans for 2025. But that's OK as looking closer to home offers many possibilities. I would like to shoot more Jurassic Coast, Dartmoor and Cornwall.

And Somerset - I will be keeping a close eye on the redevelopment of this pier. I can't believe I have not shot Glastonbury Tor and then there is those skeleton trees near Exmoor.

So lots to think about and hopefully this Twixmas gloomy weather will pass. Please join me if anyone finds themselves down my way.

On another note will this Gavin and Stacey hype ever end? Only mentioning it as this is dead opposite Barry Island.

Saint-Maurice, Valais, Switzerland

Pixie has been bored by all this rain and has had to resort to using her imagination. Here she is, after scoring the winner for Catford FC against Doggenham fc.

My daughter and I are working our way through the Jamba Juice menu. It is our new goal to try everything they make.

Florida has one benefit: Bees and hoverflies are still busy gathering pollen, which makes for cool insect photos. I was out walking around a couple of days ago, with temperatures in the high 70s/low 80s, when I came across tiny yellow flowers with swarms of bees and hoverflies surrounding them. I stopped to take several shots, though that wasn't my goal for the day. I couldn't believe my luck when this picture appeared on my screen!

Macro shot. Taken with Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT.
