Goa Gajah or Elephant Cave, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali, Indonesia

The sunset beach is one of the most beautiful and very popular beach in South Goa.This beach is very quite and calm beach and the visitors come very often overhere to spend their holidays. This beach is the part of Betalbatim beach where the golden sands blend well with the swaying coconut palms on the fringes. In the morning one can enjoy the early morning walks and in the evening can see the breathtaking view of the sunset. The beach is less crowded and is very peaceful.

Somewhere in South Goa.

Most people go to Goa to enjoy its beaches and its nightlife but for me the essence of Goa is distilled in its picturesque villages, its narrow roads lined with coconut trees ,its lush paddy fields in the Monsoons, its beautiful villas dating back to the Portuguese times and of course its friendly and peaceful people.Nowhere in India do I feel so happy and carefree as in Goa.

I will be off for a few days dear friends.See you all soon.Take care.

Goa is the smallest state of India.

It was under portuguese flag for almost 500 years.

At the present Panaji is the state's capital, while Vasco da Gama is the largest city.

The historic city of Margao still exhibits strongly the cultural influence of the Portuguese, who first landed in the early 16th century as merchants. Soon Goa (Daman and Diu as well) became a colony of Portugal. Goa is a former Portuguese province; the Portuguese overseas territory of Portuguese India existed for about 500 years until it was annexed by India in 1961.

It can be felt the strong influence of Portuguese culture in various areas of Goa.

There is a special wonder feeling in Goa.

Goa is a state located on the western coast of India. It is the smallest state of India areawise. It is surrounded by the state of Maharashtra in the north,Karnataka in the east and south and the Arabian Sea in the West.It is separated from the Deccan plateau by the Western Ghat mountain ranges. The city of Panjim in North Goa is the capital.

Goa was conquered by the Portuguese under the command of Alfonso de Albuquerque from the Sultanate of Bijapur in 1510.It remained under Portuguese rule till 1961 when it became part of India. The culture and architecture of this tiny state is a beautiful amalgamation of the local Konkan and Portuguese cultures and architecture. Goa is famous for its beautiful beaches, magnificent churches and villas dating back to the colonial era, its nightlife, its friendly people, great food and rich vegetation and wildlife. Thousands of tourists flock here every year both from India and abroad.

Decided this October to post 30 "Street Portraits" of people who I met in March 2010 in Goa, India.

Usually I stop to have a chat and eventually the folks pose for me.

Whatever...........13 years ago.........Wow.

I shall add a few words whenever I find something worth saying.
