We got our first frost a couple of days ago. First thing in the morning, I looked out the window and saw the sunlight shining on the leaf covered yard and had to go outside for a bit. I'm so glad they didn't get raked up yet :)
The fun design of these graters is the work of a charming Parisian company. They are fondly called "Nonna" (grandma) and they enchanted me so much that I could not resist and bought two.
The skirt of the Nonna is made of stainless steel, and the body of the sweet lady made of resin glazed in vibrant colors.

I was going to use this composition for an arriving Pendolino but chose instead to use it for the 10.18am Carlisle N.Y. - Tees Dock BSC Export Berth (6E97), which just happened to get a signal check across on the Up platform. DB Cargo Shed 66171 is in charge.
The location is Carlisle and I couldn't let the elegant vertically framed glazing go to waste. Known as Citadel station in British Railways days (and probably still referred to that way by some locals) the architecture sure does the label justice. Perhaps not surprisingly the station was given Grade II Listed status as far back as 1972.

HMM-- the piece itself is just under 2 inches tall and this is a portion of it. need to refresh my memory before i decide whether or not to choose this for the HMM topic of glaze...... but it's SO pretty!!
Smile on Saturday - Rose is a Rose
This vintage stickpin belonged to my grandmother. It is a real rose that has been hand-glazed and mounted on a gold stickpin.
This is a small vase of 3.5 cm in diameter.
In Poland, Fat Thursday is called tłusty czwartek. People purchase their favorite pastries from their local bakeries. Traditional foods include pączki (doughnuts), which are large deep-fried pieces of especially rich dough, traditionally filled with plum or rose petal jam (though others are commonly used) and topped with powdered sugar, icing, or glaze.] Angel wings (faworki) are also commonly consumed on this day.
My blood sugar went through the roof just photographing this. Two glazed donuts, one chocolate, one plain. For Macro Mondays theme "Glaze". For extra points the plate is glazed ceramic.
Cassatella is a traditional sweet from Sicily. It consists of round sponge cake moistened with fruit juices or liqueur and layered with ricotta cheese and chocolate chips. It is covered with a shell of marzipan, and colored icing. The cassatella is topped with candied fruit depicting cherries.
