We got our first frost a couple of days ago. First thing in the morning, I looked out the window and saw the sunlight shining on the leaf covered yard and had to go outside for a bit. I'm so glad they didn't get raked up yet :)

The fun design of these graters is the work of a charming Parisian company. They are fondly called "Nonna" (grandma) and they enchanted me so much that I could not resist and bought two.

The skirt of the Nonna is made of stainless steel, and the body of the sweet lady made of resin glazed in vibrant colors.

Smile on Saturday - Rose is a Rose

This vintage stickpin belonged to my grandmother. It is a real rose that has been hand-glazed and mounted on a gold stickpin.

... with a miniature Japanese vase, and a garden bokeh behind.

I've tried growing fuchsias so many times, but finally I have a small bush of white ones.

I'm trying to keep them alive through the hot dry summer!

The under side of this glass bowl is painted with berries and leaves. This glass glazed painted strawberry is approximately 19mm/.75". Bought this bowl at a second hand store decades ago, and I still love it.

Macro Mondays - Glaze

Cassatella is a traditional sweet from Sicily. It consists of round sponge cake moistened with fruit juices or liqueur and layered with ricotta cheese and chocolate chips. It is covered with a shell of marzipan, and colored icing. The cassatella is topped with candied fruit depicting cherries.
