Ken Auer (@kenauerrolemodel) argues that participation in community is not enough; a craftsman must ship, with quality.

Trying something new on the Shapeoko. Used OSMnx (github.com/gboeing/osmnx) to generate a .SVG file of a section of Tucson streets (north central area). I had to keep making the region smaller because the file sizes quickly get out of control. Once I had one that seemed reasonable, I attempted to make tool paths with it. Most programs seemed to choke on the file size and the number of shapes. There was one exception: makercam.com. It seemed to have no issue with the file and worked perfectly.
The toolpath was for a .7mm bit, and I just used what Carbide Create recommended for speeds (extremely slow). It took 6 hours to complete the cutting. I had started it the day before but quickly realized it wasn't going to finish. Thankfully the homing on the Shapeoko worked great and I was able to restart the job the next day and it lined up. The video ends when the camera batteries died.
