Got myself a new toy today: a Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Macro Zoom Lens. So had to go out and give it a quick try, hence this rather dull image of a ginger cat.
I decided against a Canon lens this time: I cannot afford one of the better (i.e. more expensive) Canon zooms. The Sigma got better reviews than the similar quality Canon, especially in terms of image quality, although the Canon has image stabilistation which would have been nice, so I opted for the Sigma.
I had forgotten how hard it is to hand hold a telephoto of this focal length. I need to get used to it again.
Back to the cat: for a hand held, 1600 ISO, at 300 mm, shot I think the quality is reasonable. I will be interested to mount it on a tripod and see what I get.
