Nothing makes it feel more like the holidays are truly here than getting the chance to spend time with the friends we love. So you can just imagine my delight when Pengy and Pengu arrived for a Christmas visit with me and Corgsz! Happy twirlszzz! It was a joyful afternoon, filled will laughter and fun!
Little Pengy is so thoughtful, and brought me such lovely gifts! He knows I’m a Georgia Peach, and a mad crazy football fan, so he gifted me the most amazing peach cocktail set, I’m in love with it! And as if that wasn’t incredible enough, he also gave me a magical, good luck football themed handbag that would help ensure wins for my Bulldogs! He also insisted on modeling it for me, and put it around his neck as soon as I opened it! That little rascal!
Pengy loves his snacks, so I gave him a deluxe French fry vending machine, so he can always have hot fries on hand, and I balanced that with some healthier homemade soup and a set of penguin themed mugs...he loves to drink hot chocolate, so that’s what he and Corgsz sipped while Pengu and I indulged in delish peach cocktails! And like all kiddos, lil Pengy likes things that twinkle, so Corgsz chose to gift his friend a light up bunny!
We all had such a lovely day, and our favorite little penguin shows us with each stop on his friendship holiday tour that what matters most in life is our connections to those we hold dear. Thank you my dear Pengu and Pengy, for the treasured gift of friendship, all year through. And for including me in your beautiful, heartwarming holiday series. Love to you both, and to beautiful Andie girl....happiest of holidays to you all!

The New Abbey Church of Dunfermline was built to the design of William Burn of Edinburgh and was dedicated in 1821. When in 1818 foundation work for the building was in progress, the tomb of King Robert the Bruce (who had been buried in the Old Abbey in 1329) was rediscovered the remains were carefully reinterred within the new Church. At this stage the design of the tower over the crossing of Nave and Transepts was completely revised by William Burn to incorporate the words “KING ROBERT THE BRUCE” around the top parapet. The tomb is marked by a full size brass gifted by the Earl of Elgin in 1889.

picturesque town of Portmeirion and provides
panoramic views of stunning coastline,
mountains and the Irish Sea. The Island is
approximately 3 miles from the popular town
of Harlech and 10 miles from the town of
Porthmadog. It is accessible by boat at high tide
and at low tide by foot, tractor or other suitable
vehicle for traveling across the Estuary.
One of only 43 of Britain’s unbridged tidal
islands, Ynys Giftan is in the wide Afon
Dwyryd estuary near the village of Talsarnau
in Gwynedd, North Wales. The Island has been
unoccupied for many years and has a unique
history. It is said to have been gifted to the
current Lord Harlech’s ancestors by Queen Anne
in the early 1700s, hence it became known as
Ynys Giftan (‘Anne’s Gift Island’).
The Island is located within the Snowdonia
National Park, an area steeped in culture and
local history and a hugely popular tourist
destination noted for its great beauty, wonderful
walks, rides and beeches.

The memorial fountain was gifted to the people of Sydney by the children of Lewis Wolfe Levy in 1889. It is made of polished red and white granite and features a bronze figure. It was placed at the Domain entrance to the Botanic Gardens and was prepared at the works of Messrs Freeman, Penryn and Cornwall. The figure, a water nymph in bronze, was cast by C. B. Birch.
Lewis Wolfe Levy (13 June 1815 – 25 January 1885) was an English-born Australian businessman and politician. He was born in London, the son of merchant Benjamin Wolfe Levy and his wife Martha née Levy. He migrated to Sydney in 1840 and established himself at Maitland, before moving to Tamworth. There he took over an established store and went on to make it into one of the most significant businesses in Tamworth. In 1849 he formed a business partnership with his cousin Abraham Cohen. He was also a gold buyer during the gold rush period in the 1850s. He died on 25 January 1885, survived by his wife and thirteen of their children. His estate was valued for probate at over £245,000. Most of his estate was left to family and friends with £3875 bequested to various charitable institutions. 10599

Located on the southwest corner of N. Prairie and E. Chestnut streets., the Soper-Burr House is one of the oldest in the Franklin Square Historic District. It is actually two houses built 31 years apart. The original Italianate style house was built in 1859 by land speculator Hudson Burr. In 1871, Burr moved the structure further back on the lot and added a two-story, center hall addition. A Queen Anne-style house was attached on the south side in 1890 for Burr's daughter Emma and her husband, Clinton Soper, the president of American Foundry. The house was converted tp 10 apartments in the mid-1940s.
Fast forward to 2011 and the house was in such disrepair that Landmark Illinois had placed the property on its 2011 Ten Most Endangered Historic Places in Illinois list. Fortunately, a developer purchased the property and renovated it about nine years ago. As of April 2021, the property is currently for sale.
The Soper-Burr House is a contributing property in Bloomington's Franklin Square Historic District, which is located northwest of downtown Bloomington. The Square is named in honor of Franklin Price, who was the mayor of Bloomington Mayor in 1856 when land for the Square was gifted to the city.
Franklin Square was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, and was designated a local historic district in 1979. The houses of Franklin Square were built in a variety of architectural styles from the mid 19th century through the early 20th century, including Georgian Revival, Italianate, Colonial, Queen Anne, and Richardsonian Romanesque.
Bloomington is the seat of McLean County. It is adjacent to Normal, and is the more populous of the two principal municipalities of the Bloomington-Normal metropolitan area. Bloomington is home to State Farm Insurance, Country Financial and Beer Nuts. Illinois Wesleyan University is located here, while the neighboring city of Normal is home to Illinois State University and Heartland Community College. This 3" by 2.5" pouch holds my mala / prayer beads that were gifted to me by a dear friend years ago. She picked out the beads and made the mala for a special event. HMM, everyone ! !
This is a hand made, hand weaved Menominee bracelet. It is made from nettles fibers and dyed with local plant dyes. It was given to me in trade, of sorts. The artist of this was participating , along with myself and a whole lot of others in a living history event called The Trail of History. I visited the campsite of the artist and we got to talking. He was in the process of splitting stalks of nettles stems into long threads of fiber. As I had expressed an interest in his process, he taught me how to to about splitting nettles into thin fiber threads that he and his wife would later dye using dyes created from nuts and cabbage. In exchange for my work and our palaver, he gifted me this bracelet after I offered to buy it.

Sold off by the cash-strapped city council (probably due to underuse, thank you internet), it’s now a wedding and function venue. At least it’s not a tattoo parlour or a vape shop.

This sculpture (resembling a portion of a shelter used by indigenous peoples) was revealed in Almonte's Metcalfe GeoHeritage Park in 2019. However, Stephen Brathwaite's sculpture was originally commissioned more than a quarter-century earlier for the Canada 125 celebrations in 1992. In the 1990s, Shelter was located in Rideau Falls Park, near France's embassy to Canada.
Eventually, the Rideau Falls Park site of the sculpture was required for a building project so the National Capital Commission (NCC) moved the sculpture to NCC headquarters. When NCC HQ was renovated, the sculpture went into storage. For Canada's 150th anniversary, the NCC gifted the sculpture to the township of Mississippi Mills.
Shelter consists of sticks in an interweaving design intended to resemble shelters created by aboriginal peoples. Fifty-five faces cast in glass were added to the wood shelter. Those faces represent an age and gender balance and a cultural mix proportionate to the various regions of Canada.
When Shelter was restored and left storage for the park in Almonte, six more faces were added, members of the Mississippi Mills communities.
Apollo and Daphne is a life-sized marble sculpture by the Italian artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini, which was executed between 1622 and 1625. It is regarded as one of the artistic marvels of the Baroque age. The statue is housed in the Galleria Borghese in Rome, along with several other examples of the artist's most important early works. The sculpture depicts the climax of the story of Apollo and Daphne (Phoebus and Daphne), as written in Ovid's Metamorphoses, wherein the nymph Daphne escapes Apollo's advances by transforming into a laurel tree.
Apollo and Daphne was the last of a number of important works commissioned by Cardinal Scipione Borghese from Gian Lorenzo Bernini that helped to define Baroque sculpture. Thereafter, Bernini served a succession of popes. Apollo and Daphne was commissioned after Borghese had given an important work of his patronage, Bernini's The Rape of Proserpina (1621-22), to Cardinal Ludovico Ludovisi. Through this generous gesture, Borghese hoped to ingratiate himself to the favored nephew of the new pope, Gregory XV.
Much of the early work on Apollo and Daphne was done in 1622–23, but Bernini's work on his sculpture of David (1623-24) interrupted its completion. Bernini finished Apollo and Daphne in 1625, and it was moved to the Cardinal's Villa Borghese in September of that year. Bernini did not execute the sculpture entirely by his own hand. As was the common practice at that time, he had help from his workshop. Giuliano Finelli, who was a very gifted sculptor, undertook the finer details that show Daphne's conversion from human to tree, such as the twigs and leafs springing from her hands, and her windswept hair. Some art historians, however, discount the importance of Finelli's contribution, since he was merely realizing Bernini's creative vision. Apollo and Daphne's enthusiastic reception began as soon as the work was unveiled.

History Timeline
Penshurst Place has been owned by the Sidney family since 1552; after passing through the hands of two of Henry IV's sons, followed by Henry VIII who used it as a hunting lodge. Given to Anne of Cleves as part of her divorce settlement from Henry VIII, it was then briefly in the hands of Sir Ralph Fane and was finally gifted by Henry VIII's son, Edward VI, to his loyal steward and tutor, SIR WILLIAM Sidney.
It's a kind of cactus . This photo looks unnatural coz there is extra warmth but it's a real plant ,i.e not artificial.
However, the interesting thing is that some people see ABSTRACT images in this photo though they clearly know these are flowers. A gifted child said a very nice story about the photo . That story was completely about dancing and in her own words "I can see beautiful BALLET DANCERS... and ... and..... ".

This coverlet is foundation-pieced on muslin using leftover pieces from my scrapbag. Originally, I thought I'd make a rug, but changed my mind mid-project and asked friends and family for suggestions about how to proceed. Donalee, a friend and fellow quilter, recommended adding enough to make it into a usable quilt. So, as she suggested, I enlarged it, used no batting since I backed it with flannel, tied it, and gave it to Donalee who gave me such good directions! It measures 62" X 77," and while it does not look squared up in this photo, it's just "blowin' in the wind."
