Pausing for thought ...some sincere wishes for contact hot_bake (susie) who is very poorly in hospital ....

For my better half,

coming home from work I picked a dozen Roses from the Supermarket, their roses last longer than the florist.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIEWS, COMMENTS, FAVES AND INVITES!

My mom got out of the hospital today and her birthday is tomorrow! I Love you Mom!

A big Tulip bouquet for my friend Cindy, who is recovering from surgery! I hope these beautiful blossoms will cheer her up some!

My apologies for my absence recently. I will catch up in the next few weeks. I thought I drop by as a few of my friends, for different reasons, had a tough time and I wanted to say a few words.

Although you don’t feel so or don’t believe it, you will feel better again. You will feel like the human version of yourself. You will get your life back, whatever happened. My advice? Get your army together. Get those close friends and family around you to support you, and don’t be shy. If you need something - ask. That’s what they’re for.

They say that ‘time is a cure’ which is probably right. Be generous with yourself. Get outdoors if you can, and you know what? Retail therapy can do wonders.

I posted an identical composed image. The light, though, is different and I thought might be appropriate.

He was admitted to a veterinary hospital in Columbus, OH last Saturday where he had back surgery for herniated discs. He lost the function in his back legs late Thursday night following an incident which happened early in the day. Apparently two discs in his back had been deteriorating for some time. One of them apparently made it's way into his spinal cord. He still had feeling in his back legs and was experiencing severe pain (which was actually a good sign since it was an indication to the vets that surgery was much more likely to be successful). He is doing quite well following surgery; he is already gaining some motor function back in his hind legs. However, they will not release him until he is unable to urinate on his own. We haven't seen him since Saturday since he's almost two hours away from home. Please keep Argus in your prayers. Thanks!

UPDATE: We just got a call this evening. Argus was able to urinate on his own today. We can pick him up tomorrow afternoon. Thank you for your continued prayers. We're praying he will completely recover soon.

Just a quick Doodle I did after finding out Chriatian's gorgeous new Poof has WetTail.

Widget adn Hamy are both so worried aout her and they, as well as me, wish her a speedy recovery. As widget said "Come on Poof, you *can* do it."

This was taken in a basement with natural light from one "daylight" window, so that I could get the dark background I wanted.

I had minor surgery Wednesday night and my wife got me this bunch of lillies. They are just beginning to open up and they're quite lovely.

The Get Well flowers we bought for Jonathan's mom have now become Get Well flowers for us - we're both sick. But I think the flowers need Get Well flowers because they're already wilting.

Found this going through some things in my closet. My grandmother saved this card.

It was from my sister and me back in the late 1950s. Not sure how old the card is. My

mother may have had it for a long time before that before we sent it to our grandmother.

Possibly late 1940s or early 1950s. I love the little Bluebirds on it! Such beautiful artwork!

German Get Well advertising postcard from a pharmacy. (I looked up Gute Besseruug on Google Translate and it means Get Well in English.) This card is perfect for winter as people always get sick more often at that time of year. Sent by a Postcrosser in Germany.

Ashley painted this to cheer me up! Love her to pieces.

Forgiving is not forgetting. It's letting go of the hurt.

So this image wraps up my series on Self-Stigma. It wasn’t all that I had hoped it would be, but then again what ever is? it’s funny because this stigma series wasn’t even supposed to be self portraits in the first place, but it became much more than that. It became a narrative of my life both now and then, a transformation of sorts.

From bandaids to butterflies.

I found this on Amazon.

Ah, here's a photo from day one, a.k.a. "I-269 Day", taken as I was approaching Getwell Rd. from the 269 off-ramp, mere hours after this final section was open to the public. Why start here with those day one photos? Well, first of all my phone was being quite snippy (after all, it was an historical, once in a lifetime event to photograph, so of course my phone acts stupid!), and I had only gotten a tiny recharge on it's battery and had it booted back up just seconds before getting this shot! Secondly, I've decided this brief series will be yet another done in alphabetical order. Brief series (compared to many of my others. at least), but for now I've only been able to narrow it down to just over 30 photos. I promise however to not drag this series on for months on end, and will try to wrap it up by sometime in December...

good health & happy times soon

Medication time Big Boy!

What you see here is a very cluttered front view of the Goodman/Airways location of Whataburger, taken on May 10, 2022. Since then, the signage has gone up (as we'll *kind of* see in the photo after next), and I expect both this and the Getwell location to open very soon.

Our dear friend , Wanda has basically been bedrest for weeks due to a severe back problem...Wanda is one of the sweetest people that I know! She always has a kind word for her friends...She is having surgery tomorrow!!!Please join me in wishing her well!!!

WEEK 42 – Goodman/Getwell Kroger, Revisited (III)

Since that last description was so long, I’ll leave y’all with a short one for our last pic of the day today. Here we’re looking up with a nosebleed view at the Aisle 9 tri-sider, as we prepare to step back into the rear actionway. As I noted in Tuesday’s uploads, Aisle 9 is the very first aisle to have a tri-sider instead of just a number; but I anticipate that that will probably change with the remodel likely adding a few more grocery aisles over the former home of kitchenware, now that it’s moving into the old natural foods space. On the plus side, I do think all the existing tri-siders will remain, and simply be reskinned to match the new décor package!

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)

To a Dear Friend!!!!

He don't know me...I don't know him

But We know Each other Very Well :-)

We hosted a friend recovering from surgery. These beautiful Get Well flowers arrived, which brightened all our spirits.

It kind of sucks that the bridge will also have to serve as a holder for traffic signals, but not sure there's much other choice here. The bridge still looks nice, and on the bright side - perhaps those signals will give it a bit more of an upscale, urban-ish vibe!

Snowden Pedestrian Bridge, 2021-built, Getwell Rd. at May Blvd., Southaven MS

The idea for this bridge was first born circa 2018, and to be honest I thought it was a bit of a crazy plan back then! But even in the face of a pandemic (that refuses to go away), here we are looking at the thing nearing completion (and in this view, a rendering of the completed project). Fast forward to 2021, and I have a much keener interest in this project since I now frequent Snowden Grove Park on the weekends (hopefully, even more often, when the weather gets nicer) for walking and biking. Pretty sure I'll not be trying to navigate the stairs on my bike though :P

And here's the very first photo I was able to get on opening day - my ill-acting phone didn't boot up quite quick enough for me to get the Getwell Rd. exit sign behind me unfortunately. With this interchange designated as "Exit 3", that will leave the future McIngvale interchange (again, don't hold your breath, but again, HDO leaders ought to be super-inspired to start on their end of the bargain with MDOT now!) to *possibly* be labeled "Exit 1", which would indeed be a cool designation. Just to annoy Hernando though, MDOT will probably label it "Exit 2", even though I'm fairly certain it's closer to mile marker 1 than mile marker 2.

Look for another batch of 269 photos next Thursday, then the following Wednesday. Then after that, probably taking over every other Walmart Wednesday for a bit, who knows!

So after 20 years in Southaven, what's Chick-fil-A to do for an encore? Build a 2nd Southaven location of course! This one is to be located on the west side of Getwell Rd., more or less just west of the Southaven Monster Kroger. Rumor has it Retail Retell might be thinking about covering the construction (and/or possibly the opening) of this location (new foundation can be seen in the upper left portion of the pic), but with myself *still* not delivering on those photos of the new Whitehaven Krystal, I really can't see taking on yet another new restaurant construction series at this point. It'll certainly be interesting to see the finished product though (which one or both of us will no doubt have at least a few photos of), and you can bet the place will be super crowded once it opens!

As expected, the large sign once marking the main entrance to Snowden Grove Park (seen partially dismantled last time) has now been removed completely, with no visible traces whatsoever remaining.

This is on the front, northwest end of the building, which will obviously have one of those pull up and park windows for special orders. While it's sad to see the old paint scheme go, this is bound to look nicer once they get it all painted!

More photos from this May 3, 2016 visit are planned for uploading mid-week next week.

For those of us that consider Sunday the end of the week, I thought more photos of the Snowden Grove Pedestrian Bridge would be a good note to end this week on. For this August 29 view, I just took the easy way over and drove to the Silo Square side. As can be seen here, there's plenty of construction barrels and barricades to deal with on May Blvd.

So the latest update in the Fred’s downfall saga, if y’all haven’t been following along, is that the company is officially relocating its corporate offices to Dallas from its longtime home of Memphis, abandoning the Mid-South and selling off its headquarters/distribution center complex along Getwell Road. A buyer was just announced yesterday, as a matter of fact, which is highly coincidental since I was planning to write my most recent blog post that day anyway! And the topic of that post just happens to be the liquidation of the store that shared the property with said HQ building, Fred’s onetime flagship location… feel free to check it out here!

Back on bike for this view down May Blvd. on August 22, 2021. The trail/path* that will eventually lead up to the bridge remained unpaved at this point (left side of photo), but...(cont.)

*hard for me to call anything a "trail" that's asphalt or concrete, but maybe that's just me!

This one could have went into my "Farewell 2012 décor" set I suppose. As we see here though, not much evidence out here of the remodel that has started inside the Goodman-Getwell Kroger.

Going back to the end of November 2020 for this one, figuring if I don't get it uploaded now it may continue to get skipped over. This reveals the "magic" behind those stencils that were used througout the remodel.

listen.

But in dark times when we close our eyes

It’s a nightmare,

it’s a nightmare.

And when the sun don’t shine we lose our minds.

But I swear, we can get there. -Bea Miller

Healing doesnt mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives.

We are not weak.

and it's about damn time we change the Stigma surrounding addiction.

This is a B&W version of a photo that will be in my 2016 Senior Thesis Show titled "Impressions".

I have so many awesome photo ideas for the new year. I've decided that once I'm done with my Stigma show I will moving in a completely different direction with my work. NO MORE SAD ARTWORK, I've nailed sad on the head with my photography because I was sad. I'm finally in the right headspace and I've realized I want to make people feel good when they see my portfolio. I want my work to be an example of what can happen with a simple change in attitude. Every day I feel more and more inspired to show everyone how beautiful they really are, and to love themselves the way they should. I've lived far to long focusing on everything that was wrong with me and I began to not care about myself anymore. I'm turning the page now. I'm happy? and that's something that I never thought I would say. I want to show you that there is green grass on the other side of the mountain. That there's actually a light at the end of the tunnel but you have to keep going to be able to see it. Believe me, it's real, and it's brilliant. There's hope for you always you just can't give up on it, and I want my art to be living proof of that. I am proof of it.

Follow My Work On Facebook Here.

I love you all.

There's no geotag on this photo, but I want to say this was at the Laughter Rd. interchange, back in the first half of August 2018. Retail Retell caught one of these shields all but completely uncovered at the Getwell Rd. interchange. I had passed by that sign several times myself, but almost always going the other direction, and never paid it much attention either way!
