I was so thrilled we got a chance to see Mono Lake before we left. We weren't there long enough but it was incredible to see and touch. That water is crazy...feels so slippery! Definitely wash your hands soon after if you dip them in the water! The water is about three times more saltier than the ocean!
Sadly, it was a summer's day with a few small clouds and I had just a short timeslot for the photo. Long exposure of 13 seconds with f-stop 22, lowest ISO possible and ND64 filter on my 24mm Sigma prime lens.
From Mono Lake we took Hwy 120 back towards Nevada. What an incredibly beautiful road! Just as you reach Hwy 6 there is a little town called Benton. It sits at the base of the White Mountains, an impressive mountain range with elevations reaching the 14,200' mark that looked particularly dramatic with the impending snowstorm. Benton is a sweet little place with hot springs, lots of history laying around and even a little bed and breakfast. We would like to come back one day and stay a night. (or two..)
