The other day I visited the Floriade 2022 at Almere (www.flickr.com/photos/87453322@N00/52214228290/in/photost...). There was lots to see among which curiosities such as this Blue Anthurium. I'd never come across such a thing before and there was no-one at that particular display to ask about its background.
As far as I could gather, horticulturalists were able in 2011 to inject the roots of Anthurium with a dye that produces this result. In light of that 'infusion' it's curious to see that on the internet there's at least one advertisement for the seeds of Blue Anthuriums. Infusions cannot alter the genetics of the plant, so how 'blue' seed is possible is beyond me.
Perhaps someone 'out there' can enlighten me...

Genetics, nature and a history of high-speed turns under the sheets (a joke the Mrs. hates) has caused my larger than average head to shed many more hairs than I would have liked. However, trying to find out what type of @*&$%^)+ bird this is truly had me pulling my hair out!
After googling every aspect of her and her color scheme for hours…scanning the results with nothing popping up that was even close, I had mentally thrown in the towel. Then I found ebird.org…with its 925 links to Costa Rican bird sightings going back at least to 1955, I knew it had to be in there, somewhere.
Between last night and today, I am at 450 of the 925 being checked out. I have found several that I haven’t even edited yet (543 photos to still edit) so it hasn’t all been about this young lady. The problem with the site is if I click on bird numbered 445 (for example) and that species then pops up. If not needed, I hit the return arrow and it returns me to bird #1…then the scrolling begins to find bird #446. About one every 12-14x it will return me back into the 400’s, but not nearly enough!
So here she is, for your viewing pleasure! I have never seen a male and a female of the same species both be so beautiful and so different.

Asters are almost the latest flowers in the garden here, still some colour though, despite the weather.
The most popular asters are Monte Casino and the New England aster.
Asters range in colours of white, red, pink, purple, lavender and blue.
Like the sunflower, the Aster flower is actually a collection of very tiny tubular flowers, which are grouped together in a central disk and surrounded by a “ray” of flowers or petals.
Asters are one of the easiest garden perennials to cultivate.

I've had a few requests over the years to do a genetics set like this, and I had my other items done early (not typical lol) so I had some extra time to make this 80+ layer genetics set. It includes layers in each of my skin tones for a perfect shade match if you're wearing one of my skins, and otherwise you can choose the closest match and further tint for a perfect match to other stores tones. Some of the other more basic layers are pure white (they come pre-tinted) and FULLY tintable, so you can play with those as well.
