Captured on a cold day in early June 2017, I hope that you enjoy this previously unpublished shot. Knowing nothing about crystals, save for their names, I just looked this up to learn that smoky quartz is supposed to have strong 'healing' and 'earthing' qualities if you believe in that sort of thing. I don't know about all of that but I do know that all crystals have a wonderful beauty to them. Now I need to dig out that wonderful old Jim Henson and Frank Oz film. "Looks like Gelfling, smells like Gelfling... probably is Gelfling". :)

The Shepherds Calender - January - winters day
Wood pigeons too in flocks appear

These earrings were created for the Wire Artisan's Guild weekly theme challenge of "Magic" chosen by Emerald Dolphin Design.
They were inspired by the movie "The Dark Crystal" which was a very mystical and magical Jim Henson movie.
The focal gem is a gorgeous AA Iolite faceted "kite" in a deep dark indigo colour, and there are also iolite rondelles. All metal is sterling silver and has been oxidised and polished.

[A portrait of the effervescent Kristi. She and I had a most magical Saturday together. Going on an epic quest to receive hugs from a woman named Amma, followed up by magical rice-ball dinner, and finally shooting in this field of purple flowers at golden hour. I felt a spark of inspiration and shot this of Kristi, who gave me the keen idea to use my newly acquired crystal to shoot through my lens with! So happy to have met someone who has so many similar interests, not the least of which is an obsession with The Dark Crystal. Love my gelfling sister! <3]

[Soooo this is how my face would look if it was perfectly symmetrical. Was an interesting experiment--I took one half of me and flipped it! Many thanks to my wonderful, beautiful friend Miss Morgan for helping by poking me in the face with a plethora of sticks. <3]

Another build from the world of Thra, the Chamber of the Crystal has been in the works for quite a while. I teased a design a few years back, but I couldn't get it to work as much as I tried.
Then of all things, the Menu screens from the recent LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga gave me the idea to go with this circular base and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!
This build has plenty of space for a number of minifigures, both Gelfling, Skeksis and even a little fizzgig. It also includes a small 3x3 tile with the logo of the series on it, though you may need a sticker for that one.

These are my custom minifigures of the last of the Gelfling, Jen & Kira. I thought making some Gelfling to go alongside my Skeksis wouldn't be so unwelcome to you guys, seeing as it has been a while since my last Dark Crystal project.
These 2 figures were very hard to design seeing as you have to translate puppet and most importantly a Gelfling into a lego minifigure. Whilst I do think Jen's face is the only figure which actually keeps his more puppet appearance, I do still think both figures look great in their own ways.
If anyone is interested in making these figures for themselves, here is a list of the pieces needed:

I've loved this sculpt since it came out, but I have little interest in anything smaller than SD... but, I guess I had a weak moment in June and decided to order him! I couldn't resist his little face anymore. He finally arrived on Friday! He's like those baby animals that are so ugly they become cute. From the side he looks like a Gelfling but from the front, I really love his face... ;3;
Today it was over 40 degrees so I decided to paint him REALLY FAST before I lost my chance. Pretty much everything that can go wrong with a faceup, did go wrong. I'll repaint him next year but for now he has a faceup, some shitty eyes, and a borrowed wig! And a little outfit on the way. It's all I can afford right now LOL. Damn dolls taking all my money...
Not sure what his name will be! I'm kinda leaning towards Camio because it's too cute for any other demons I have planned. XD For the record he's not one of those "500 year old trapped in a child's body" type characters. He really is a child. XD

The Dark Crystal is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. I just had to make myself a gelfling.
