For Christmas, my computer techo-savvy son decided that I needed a better computer, not one you buy in a store but a custom built from the ground up kind. The kind that you can see into the case and view all the components like the liquid cooled processor on the motherboard. You can watch the colors (adjusted to blue and yellow of course) go around the 7 fans, synchronized for maximum efficiency to keep things nice and cool. It's nothing like the big old Dell I built "to order" so many years ago and the not too shabby gaming laptop that I currently use. After we got it all hooked up and running, I concluded that I did indeed need a new computer.
This picture is of the graphics card that runs the video and processes Photoshop work. It looks like techno art sculpture and I just had to photograph it before it got installed.

Today is my 7th rezz day in Second Life, from the start I loved Second Life and still love it and to explore, dance, enjoy live music, events.
I will celebrate my rezz day Saturday 21st of May at Blue Lagoon Marina, where we are friends meeting every Saturday at 12 PM SLT. And we been meeting and partying at BLM every Saturday for at least the last 6 years!
BLM and its owners have always supported live music and DJs in Second Life and always with leading DJs entertaining, right now it is DJ Tigεr ρaωz.
⌛ Back then I had the pre-bento Maitreya Lara avatar, sun tanned skin from the London sim. Flexi hair, yes 🤔
⏱️ Now I have Maitreya Lara V5 bento+BOM, latest LeLutka EvoX head and high quality skin from leading skin makers. My hair got better to 😍
⌛ Back then in 2016 I had a laptop i7 1.8 Ghz and GeForce 650m with 2 GB VRAM.
🚀 Now I enjoy Second LIfe on my gaming computer i7 8 cores 5.1 Ghz and RTX 3070 with 8 GB VRAM.
⌛ Back then in 2016 I could run SL in mid graphics and with ALM enabled. Wow! Was amazing to see the lights and shadows, loved to sail Blake Sea and drive my bike in night time and at dusk time on mainland and drive sims.
⏱️ Now i can run everything in ultra graphics with everything set to maximum quality and Second Life even more amazing - and I still love to drive, sail at dusk, in night time, enjoying the amazing lights, colors, shadows and the mind blowing beautiful sims.

This just arrived for my IT Doc spouse. I asked if I could photograph part of the piece first before he rebuilt one of his computers.
I like the way it bounces the late afternoon window light. I wonder if there is a group devoted to bouncing light. No highlights died in capturing this photo.
Thanks for looking.
I have decided to postpone my purchase of a new computer for at least six months.
I want a decent graphics card (like GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming 10G). In December 2020 this cost 650 euros. Currently the same card costs 1,800 to 2,000 euros.
Demand and supply are entirely out of balance.
Demand is high because during lockdown many people got bored and bought a new computer (high end gaming computers have the sort of graphics card that I want), but also and more importantly because of GPU cryptominers who buy all graphic cards with 4GB or more memory. And scalpers also drive up the price.
Production can't follow the sharply increased demand (and there is a shortage of chips) hence prices are skyrocketing.
It is expected that sooner or later the prices will go down again, but it might take half a year or more.
Still, if waiting half a year means that I can buy the same card for 1,000 euros less, it's worth the wait. Although it also means I am limited to making basic things in Blender for the foreseeable future.
