Obra maestra y joya de la arquitectura de Antoni Gaudí, la Casa Batlló es un punto de referencia del modernismo. Situado en el Paseo de Gracia, este edificio destaca entre todos por su diseño y colores. Es Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.
El espacio más relevante es el salón principal, donde destaca el gran ventanal de la tribuna que da al Paseo de Gracia, decorado con vidrieras en forma de disco de diferentes colores.
Ventanas de madera que se accionan de subida y bajada mediante contrapesos, sin jambas ni montantes, de manera que es posible levantar todas las cristaleras y tener una abertura panorámica, por todo lo ancho del salón.

En 1883, Máximo Díaz de Quijano (cuya hermana era cuñada de Antonio López y López, primer marqués de Comillas, y, como él, indiano enriquecido en América) encargó a Gaudí la ejecución de un chalet de veraneo junto al palacio de Sobrellano del marqués, en la localidad cántabra de Comillas: El Capricho.

The house conserves both the memory of Gaudí and many examples of furniture and other objects that he designed. Crucial to forming an idea of how the great Catalan architect worked, these works also illustrate the craft production system in Catalonia during the Art Nouveau period.
The original purpose of the building – that of acting as a “show house” for Park Güell – gives the site added value. Although it is a public space today, Park Güell, one of Gaudí’s major undertakings, was originally planned as a private residential area.

On Friday 23rd April, people in Catalonia celebrate the day of the rose and book. Last year's event was cancelled due to Covid and this year people were able to go and enjoy browsing books, having authors sign their copy and do so keeping their safe distance. It wasn't easy as there were a lot of people with pent up desires to walk the streets of Barcelona.
