West Sussex garlic, the outer skin of this variety is in tones of golden browns, not the cream variety you usually see in the greengrocers.

Woodland covered in wild garlic, otherwise known as ramsons. Found in a little bit of woodland only a 5 minute drive away from home - I was enchanted ! Firstly because they happen only once a year, in spring, and look and smell delicious. Secondly, because of the light filtering through the trees. I love garlic ! If you like garlic too, you can actually use the leaves of ramsons in salads and salad dressings and other recipes, of which I'm sure there are many.
I'm happy to say I've now got Topaz Studio working again, so I edited this photo there, finished off in PicMonkey with a light texture of my own added.
Thanks for looking ! Have a wonderful weekend and week to come, everyone and may your days be filled with sweet and lovely sights and feelings.

When I heard that the Macro Monday theme was veggies I knew I wanted in. I was thinking along the chive/onion/leek line but when I went to the store I didn't see anything that jumped out at me except for a possible shoot with cauliflower against a white background. I decided to pass and kept looking. I started to look into small onions but then I saw a bin with cloves of garlic. I looked through the bin and came across this clove! I found what I was looking for, and at $0.79/clove the price was right. When I presented it to the cashier, he looked at me funny and suggested I get one in better shape because this one had sprouted. I asked him to be careful with it because I wanted to photograph it. He then asked that I wait a minute and kept looking at the clove while he made a phone call. It seems store policy is to throw out cloves like this and in the end I got it for FREE! Free is nice and with that as a backstory here is my macro garlic clove shot.
The clove measures 2.5 (W) X 2.75 (T) and was shot with my: 55mm f/2.8 NIKKOR Micro lens with a two shot stack. Light provided through a south facing window with the clove sitting on some black paper.
Make for MacroMondays group, Vegetable theme.
Now its off to a cup of water for a little more growing and perhaps another shoot in a few weeks!
Black garlic is fermented white garlic... tastes very good, is healthy and you don’t smell like consumption
Botanically, garlic is considered a vegetable. It shows characteristics of a vegetable as it has a bulb, tall stem, and long leaves. - - - - -

Garlic is one of the healthiest foods on earth. Low in calories but very high in nutrition, with many health properties: anti blood coagulation, antioxidant, antiviral, antimicrobial..................
Garlics believed can keep you away from the cuspids of vampires, if you make a necklace of garlics and wear it. But I also guess that the cupid doesn't want to bring you a mate, if you smells of garlics from that necklace.
Just kidding and Happy Macro your Monday... ha ha :D
