My wife was sick in bed on our wedding anniversary, a couple weeks ago. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up medication for her, I checked out the plush toys they were selling for Valentine's Day. Maybe a soft animal, adorned with a little heart, could serve to comfort her as she recovered, while also noting our anniversary.
Nah! Jan's not the soft and frilly type. Instead, I opted for this garden ornament. And, she loves it! Janice gave it a prominent place on top of her clothing wardrobe, where she can see it each time she enters the bedroom. At least for the rest of the winter. She's so glad I didn't go for the plush toy.
Now that she's feeling better, she's trying to decide on a name for the new gargoyle.
Thinking, thinking, thinking . . .
This is one of two which located on either side of one of the south entrance suspension components that ties one of the two bascules to the main Tower Bridge, across the River Thames, London.
Gargoyles and Tudor chimneys.
Hampton Court Palace has some amazing Tudor architecture.
The Gargoyles are fascinating! And I love those stunning Tudor chimneys.

What struck me so funny was the gargoyle looks like he is shivering and actually trying to get away from the snow above him!

The Gargoyles of Notre Dame
"What do you see when you look up to the top of the great cathedral of Notre Dame? You see monsters, half-man and half-beast. These demon looking creatures carved out of stone are called gargoyles. They are one of the many eerie stone figures that adorn the gutters of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. Gargoyle comes from a Latin word, meaning gullet or drain. That's what the strange looking creatures are, they're drainpipes. Each grotesque figure has a passageway inside that carries rainwater from the roof and out through the gargoyle's mouth. From the top of the cathedral's towers the gargoyles have a magnificent view of the city."
