But I was moved to this location last year, we were not able to take the yellow sea widely because of the low back. Since the friend had gained a stepladder in the car, this time was taken from a slightly higher position.

I can I myself riding on the stepladder.

A walk along the oceans shore. The late afternoon world is full of colors, mostly shades of red and gold. The ocean is loud, intense and the power is unmistakable. The wildlife hunts and gains power from the sounds and sights. It is entertainment only nature can provide.`125

Matera is a city and a province in the region of Basilicata, in Southern Italy. It is the capital of the province of Matera and the capital of Basilicata from 1663 to 1806. The town lies in a small canyon carved out by the Gravina. Matera has gained international fame for its ancient town, the "Sassi di Matera". The Sassi originated in a prehistoric troglodyte settlement, and these dwellings are thought to be among the first ever human settlements in what is now Italy. The Sassi are habitations dug into the calcareous rock itself, which is characteristic of Basilicata and Apulia. Many of them are really little more than caverns, and in some parts of the Sassi a street lies on top of another group of dwellings. The ancient town grew up on one slope of the rocky ravine created by a river that is now a small stream, and this ravine is known locally as "la Gravina". In the 1950s, the government of Italy used force to relocate most of the population of the Sassi to areas of the developing modern city.

Until the late 1980s the Sassi was considered an area of poverty, since its dwellings were, and in most cases still are, uninhabitable. The present local administration, however, has become more tourism-oriented, and it has promoted the regeneration of the Sassi with the aid of the Italian government, UNESCO, and Hollywood. Today there are many thriving businesses, pubs, and hotels there.

This double crested cormorant did a few circles of the lake to gain altitude before it finally left the area. Gave me a few passes at it. Didn't nail the focus, but I liked the dynamic pose enough to post it.

When I compare

What I have lost with what I have gained,

What I have missed with what attained,

Little room do I find for pride.

I am aware

How many days have been idly spent;

How like an arrow the good intent

Has fallen short or been turned aside.

But who shall dare

To measure loss and gain in this wise?

Defeat may be victory in disguise;

The lowest ebb is the turn of the tide.

Asen's Fortress is a medieval fortress in the Bulgarian Rhodope Mountains, close to the city of Plovdiv, on a high rocky ridge on the left bank of a river. Elevation of 279 m.

The earliest archaeological findings date from the time of the Thracians, the area of the fortress being also inhabited during the Ancient Roman and Early Byzantine period. The fortress gained importance in the Middle Ages, first mentioned in the statute of the Bachkovo Monastery in the 11th century. The fortress was conquered by the armies of the Third Crusade.

I was so lucky to get this lifer owl with a couple. It was extremely difficult one hour hiking in the wet slippery raining day. No pain, no gain as people said. But Mother nature gave me a little break when I found the owls, it stopped raining. I got a few minutes to photograph these beautiful owls before I lost sun light. Thanks so much for your comments, favorite and views.

The Castle of Lindoso is a medieval castle in the civil parish of Lindoso, municipality of Ponte da Barca, in the Portuguese district of Viana do Castelo. It is classified as a National Monument. It is believed the fortress was started under the 13th century reign of Afonso III of Portugal and was of low importance. During the time of the Restoration of Portuguese independence, the castle and its location gained importance in view of its border location. For this reason, the location was used as a support base in the context of Portuguese incursions in Galicia by the military forces of Portugal in September 1641. As the war progressed, the castle received modernization and restoration works, which were completed around 1666 (date inscribed on the lintel of a door). The castle saw a defensive state in the Napoleonic Wars but never saw action. It has never been used since.

Almighty God's words "Those Who obey God With a True Heart Shall Surely Be Gained by God"

www.holyspiritspeaks.org/videos/the-truly-obedient-shall-...

Introduction

Almighty God says, "Obedience to God and submission to the work of God are one and the same. Those who submit only to God but not to the work of God cannot be deemed to be obedient, and surely neither can those who do not truly submit and are outwardly sycophantic. Those who truly submit to God are all able to gain from the work and achieve understanding of the disposition and God's Work. Only such men truly submit to God. Such men are able to gain new knowledge from new work and experience new changes from the same. Only such men have the approval of God; only this kind of man is one perfected and has undergone a transformation of his disposition. Those approved by God are those who gladly submit to God, as well as to His word and work. Only this kind of man is in the right; only this kind of man truly desires and seeks God."

Easily reached by a steep but short hike, this location has all three falls in view at the same time, but at the cost of being a bit distant. Total height of the falls is around 100 feet. Good views of the upper two cascades can be gained by taking the steps down to the viewing area at the top of the lower cascade. And I imagine that a good view of the lower cascade can be had from the base which seems popular with anglers.

During the colonial era in Africa, occupied by Europated in what is known as the "Horn of Africaean nations, there were two Somalias. One loc" and belonging to Italy, the so-called Italian Somalia. To the north of it, France colonized a small territory known as French Somalia, which when it gained independence from France was renamed Yibuti in French or Djibouti in Arabic. It is a little-known country, despite the great beauty and diversity of its landscapes. Plenty of desert, volcanic landscapes, slightly mountainous areas, landscapes of ancient volcanic lava flows mixed with arid or desert areas, extinct volcanoes, lakes like Lake Assal, the saltiest lake in the world, located 155 meters below sea level. Or an enormous variety of marine landscapes, mixed with volcanic landscapes and white sand beaches. Being such a small country, the variety of landscapes is immense; it's like a tiny representation of the entire planet concentrated in a small place. In the south of the country lies the Grand Bara Desert, a mixture of desert and extremely arid areas. The Grand Bara Desert was formed from the remains of dry lakebeds that were once lakes, and is now completely arid plains in central and southern Djibouti. In the south of the Grand Bara Desert lies the Goba'ad region and the Grand Bara Depression. The Goba'ad is a plain with narrow "wadi," the Arabic term used to refer to dry channels or ephemeral rivers that only have water during the two or three months of intense rainfall, typical of desert areas. In the south of the Grand Bara Desert, this occurs from late June to September... after which... the rain stops. Rainfall is scarce in Djibouti, and the interior of the country is very hot and dry, so most of the territory is desert or semi-desert. The Goba'ad is located between the Hanle Plain and Lake Abbe, the saltiest lake in the world. The Goba'ad plain and the arid depression of the Grand Bara separate the volcanic zone in this region from the arid zone. The volcanic part of the landscape is formed by extinct lava flows that flowed through these areas from the now-extinct northern volcanoes in past millennia. This clearly defines and clearly distinguishes both the arid and volcanic zones. During the rainy season, water flows across the divide between the two separate zones, or else it follows the path formed by the extinct volcanic lava flows, eroding them and transforming them into an increasingly smooth surface. In contrast, in the arid zone, the clay that makes up this area is poorly drained and sometimes water accumulates during the rainy season, giving rise to the ephemeral growth of some scattered grass or bushes... and very little else... rather little... little...

Nujabes was a Japanese musician and DJ, well-known in his country but somewhat less so abroad due to his short discography and his untimely death. His name was Jun Seba, a first and last name he combined, written in reverse order in Japanese, to create his own anagram: Nujabes. His music had a touch of melancholy and nostalgia. What I value most about him is his enormous ability and creativity to blend musical genres as distant as hip hop and jazz. I also liked the "character" Nujabes, especially his reflections on creativity and love. One of Nujabes's best-known songs is titled "Aruarian." This word has no translation into any language, nor is it officially recognized by the linguistic institutions that regulate the different languages of each country. However, it is included in so-called "urban dictionaries." The word was coined and invented by Nujabes in relation to his reflections on love. The word has a meaning that goes far beyond what is conventionally known as "love." The meaning of "Aruarian" is that of a very deep, almost instinctive connection with another person. A "cavernous love" that one feels for someone without any reason, logic, or motive. Once, reading an interview with Nujabes in a Japanese music magazine, I was surprised to read what he felt when he walked through Shibuya, a well-known area of Tokyo that is always crowded with people, bustling with activity, and fast metropolitan highways. He explained that when he walked through Shibuya, he felt like he was walking through a desert where there was nothing and no one. I suppose everyone who lives in large metropolises has experienced this feeling at some point: feeling surrounded by so many people and yet feeling so alone and misunderstood in life. From today on, these hundreds of square kilometers of the Grand Bara Desert will be called the Little Nujabes Desert. I don't think any Djiboutian would be bothered by a symbolic change of name for this small patch of desert, where there is nothing and no one. So Nujabes can continue wandering alone through these desert places in search of a "cavernous" and profound love, and sleep and rest forever. I'm not going to ask Google Maps to include this name on its satellite map... It's enough for me that it's called this way, in a unique and symbolic way for me... the "Little Nujabes Desert." In 2010, right in the Shibuya area of Tokyo, on one of its fast-moving metropolitan highways, Nujabes had a very serious traffic accident, dying at the age of 36... losing his life, his search for Aruarian, his walks through the Shibuya desert... and forever losing an entire life yet to be lived.

Life is full of little pleasures awaiting our discovery each day. Seek them and you will gain happiness in the process. Neglect them and you will accumulate regrets along the way.

‘Beware the Blackthorn Winter’ is a country saying about a spell of cold weather in early April which often coincides with the blossoming of the blackthorn (Prunus Spinosa). The pure white of the blackthorn blossom matches the snow or hoar frost covering the fields nearby and almost invariably bitter north easterly winds. The longer days and sun gaining strength at this time of year often give a spell of warmer weather - but then the Blackthorn Winter comes along and reminds us it’s not quite summer yet. Statistically, we are more likely to have snow at Easter than at Christmas.

A Blackthorn Winter can be described as the opposite of an Indian summer.

Blackthorn white blossoms appear before the leaves, creating a contrast against the dark smooth thorny branches. The blackthorn flowers eventually become purple sloes, ripening in autumn and harvested traditionally in October or November, after the first frosts, and used to make a Sloe gin liqueur.

Ashala's account

- Asha's first account

This might come as a big surprise to all my friends here on flickr but there is a new addition to the family. Please welcome wee Tilly. Ashala has got a new baby sister. Tilly is a 5 and half month old border collie and is a wee rescue dog from The Pound. My sister Gina seen a ad for her on one of her Whatsapp groups that she just joined a month before and a member was asking did anybody want to take on a wee rescue pup. Gina phoned up on the Friday and by the Monday the 29th April we brought wee Tilly home. We named her after our Mother who has recently passed away. Tilly and her two siblings were dumped in the dog pound just weeks ago. They had never been handled and would only come out of their shelter for minutes at a time in The Pound before scurrying back in again. The person on Whatsapp was Tilly's foster Mother for just around a week but she quickly gained Tilly's confidence. Tilly is a remarkable wee pup and has come on leaps and bounds since we brought her home 5 days ago. Took her to a dog class that I was taking Ashala to last night to get her socialized and she was perfect. The trainer said she was very bright. She is a very gentle wee thing and has fitted into our home perfectly. There was a wee bit of jealousy between Ashala and Tilly at the beginning but as each day has gone on the jealousy has decreased. The jealousy was more on Tilly's part she didn't want us patting Ashala and would run over to separate us from stroking her. I think Tilly is going to be one very special wee dog especially with the way she is now and how she has over come most of her fears when she hadn't been socilized for the first 5 months of her life. This pic was taken just after Tilly had her first swim in the sea that is why she has the wet look...lol.

The Mighty Pico Paraná

I'm from São Paulo, in southeastern Brazil. Pico Paraná, Brazil's 41st tallest mountain, is a 6-hour and 41-minute drive or about 471 kilometers south of where I live.

Having scaled the 3rd to 7th highest mountains in Brazil, I can say that Pico Paraná, the 41st tallest, was by far the most challenging climb I've done so far.

I've scaled numerous mountains, from the snow-capped peaks of Africa to the technical climbs of the Andes, but nothing could have prepared me for the raw, primal challenge of Pico Paraná. Standing at a towering 1,877 meters (6,158 feet), it's the highest point in southern Brazil.

A Night to Remember I began my ascent at 11 PM on a Saturday night, aiming to catch the sunrise at 6:34 AM. Armed with nothing but determination and a headlamp, I plunged into the dense, primordial forest. The initial three hours were a relentless battle against the unforgiving terrain, as I leaped over massive, exposed tree roots and slogged through muddy trails.

A Vertical Dance As I gained altitude, the challenge intensified. The trail transformed into a series of vertical dance floors, where I navigated sheer rock faces using metal rungs and ropes. I climbed one peak after another, each offering breathtaking panoramas but demanding every ounce of my strength.

The Final Push The final ascent was the most grueling. Without a natural water source, I carried a heavy pack, and the lack of sleep was starting to take its toll. Yet, the allure of witnessing the sunrise from the summit kept me going.

Image: A close-up of the climber's hands gripping a rock face, with a backdrop of lush vegetation.

A Celestial Reward Finally, I reached the summit just in time to witness the sunrise. As the first rays of dawn painted the sky in hues of pink and orange, I stood on top of the world, overwhelmed by a sense of accomplishment. The panoramic view was nothing short of spectacular, stretching as far as the eye could see.

The descent was equally demanding, but the euphoria of reaching the summit carried me through. After 18 grueling hours, I finally made it back to the trailhead. Exhausted but elated, I knew I had conquered one of the most challenging climbs of my life.

Key Points About Pico Paraná:

*Highest point in southern Brazil: 1,877 meters (6,158 feet)

*Part of the Ibitiraquire mountain range: Known for its rugged beauty

*Demanding climb: Requires a high level of physical fitness and technical climbing skills

*Multiple summits: Including Pico Paraná, União, and Ibitirati

*Unique ecosystem: Home to a diverse range of flora and fauna

If you're seeking a truly unforgettable adventure, I highly recommend tackling Pico Paraná. Just be prepared for a challenging and rewarding experience.

PS. The photo I shared captures the moment of descending or returning from the peak, bathed in the warm glow of daylight. In contrast, the ascent of Pico Paraná was an adventure undertaken in complete darkness, guided only by the beams of our headlamps. I'll be sharing breathtaking sunrise photos from the summit very soon.

The only little brown bird (White throated Sparrow) to gain a name of the 20 or thirty that come to my thoughtfully provided buffet dining area. He has been missing his tail but I think I now see where it's coming back so after awhile I will probably be saying stuff like I used to have a little brown bird that I named Shorty but I don't' know what happened to him, when the reality will be that he is still right there and I can't tell him apart from all of his comrades! LOL Happy Sabbath everyone! The sun has decided to pay us a short visit today for which I am extremely grateful! :) I'm guessing Anita will escape the confines of "sick hill" today and be out and about doing what Anita does while I will be ... well, napping most likely! LOL

We have gained our first summit of the day, marked by the rocky cairn on the peak of Mayar. We also get a fine view out over the Scottish Highlands, with the water of Backwater Reservoir in the distance. It's mighty windy up here, with winds around 40mph (65kph) making it pretty cold, and the rain is catching up rapidly and soon to arrive.

After a trip back up to Aberdeen for meetings at the office, I stayed a little longer to climb Mayar and Driesh. Mayar stands at 928 meters (3044 feet) and is my 29th Munro, and gives me the 10% of Munro's bagged I have always wanted. Driesh, at 947 meters (3106 feet), is my 30th Munro and the 2nd of the two I climbed this day.

Firefighters are gaining the upper hand in controlling the deadly Camp Fire. Smoke continues to pour into Northern California, and conditions have been the worst in the world, particularly in Chico and Sacramento. Air quality improved slightly today in San Francisco, as an onshore flow developed over night. More relief is expected by Tuesday as wind patterns shift, and rain is in the forecast for Wednesday.

My heart aches for the people who have lost family members, friends, homes, communities, and a way of life.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.
