Feiertag und schönes Wetter - das ist i.d.R. eine Kombination, bei der man um das Elbsandsteingebirge einen Bogen machen sollte, wenn man nicht auf wandern in der Touristenkarawane steht. Gut, dass nicht jeder Feiertag in Tschechien mitgefeiert wird. Und so bot sich der Pfingsmontag bei schönem Wetter zu einem Ausflug über die Grenze an.
Auf dem Plan stand allerdings keine Wanderung, sondern eine längere Auto-Fotorunde zu diversen Aussichtstürmen. Das Wetter hielt tatsächlich bis zum Nachmittag durch. Erst auf der Rückfahrt gab es einen kurzen Regenschauer, der sich hinter Krietzschwitz aber schon wieder in Sonnenschein auflöste und einen schönen Regenbogen über die Festung Königstein zauberte - der perfekte Abschluss eines motivreichen Fototages!

One of the more vibrant sunsets I've seen, along an endless horizon. However after this trip, I feel I am reaching my ends with analog photography.

Gabès formerly belonged to Carthage. After the Second Punic War in the 2nd century BC, the city came under Roman rule. It was then named Tacape.
In the 7th century, Gabès came under Muslim rule, marking the beginning of a completely new era for the city. Sidi Abou Loobaba settled in Gabès.
In 1881, Gabès became part of the French protectorate, which many residents experienced as an occupation. Most emigrated to the capital, Tunis, or to Djerba, with a small group moving to France or Palestine.
