Op 21 Juni, de dag voor de TSP rit naar Raeren hadden ik en een mede-fotograaf beide niks op de planning. Sinds diegene nog een keer aan de Rheinstrecke wou staan, en ik inmiddels aardig wat van die route afweet, besloten we met zn tweeën de zaterdag in Duitsland over te brengen. zo gezegd, zo gedaan, en voordat we het wisten stonden we langs de Linker Rheinstrecke.
Aangezien mijn Reisgenoot voor de reis vanuit West-Vlaanderen een auto had meegenomen met daarin een ladder voor ons beide, hadden we een best aangenaam aanbod qua stekken die normaal niet echt bereikbaar te voet zouden zijn, en in combinatie met het warme weer was het ook wel fijn om in een auto met Airco te kunnen zitten, want het was buiten 35 graden
Eerst besloten we tussen Bonn en Riosdorf te staan, net buiten Tannenbusch aangezien de welbekende stek bij Bornheim nog niet goed voor de zon was. Na de passage van onder andere een Alstom Prima sloten de bomen weer voor de volgende goederentrein.
Om 5 over half 5 passeerde CargoUnit Vectron 6193 237, verhuurd aan Helrom, de twee fotografen met een Intermodale containertrein richting Keulen.

Als je ook maar iets te maken heb gehad met treinen de laatste 5 jaar, dan heb je hoogstwaarschijnlijk wel van ze gehoord; de 2454 Crew, een stichting die zich inzet voor het behoud van de Alstom 2400 Loc 2454 (en inmiddels vele andere treinen.) Het enorme succes van de stichting is moeilijk te omvatten, van de oprichting in 2019 naar het erin slagen om een treinserie die in 2016 aan de kant ging weer terug in reguliere dienst te brengen, en in de tussentijd hebben ze maarliefst 5 treinstellen, 7 locomotieven en 4 rijtuigen weten te bewaren. En dat begon dus allemaal met de 2454.
In 2016 werd de 2454, die na de buitendienststelling bij de NS in Frankrijk belandde voor de bouw van Hogesnelheidslijnen en het trekken van kolentreinen. Opgehaald uit het Belgische Raeren, waar ie in desolate en in slechte staat stond, uiteindelijk werd de loc in 2018 rijvaardig en is hij vernoemd naar Niels Bakker, die een belangrijke rol speelde om de locomotief weer rijvaardig te krijgen en kort daarna een fatale hersentumor opliep. Uiteindelijk heeft de loc in 2019 zijn eigen Stichting gekregen, en werd daarna ook bij verschillende bedrijven ingezet waaronder HSL, RFO, RXP, TCS en wordt ie momenteel ingezet door Voestalpine voor het trekken van Railpro treinen van en naar Onnen.
Maar op 4, 5 en 6 Juli mocht de loc een weekendje vrij bij zijn bijbaantje bij Voestalpine. En werd ie ingezet bij de Stoomtram Hoorn-Medemblik, waar dat weekend het Bello Festival werd gehouden, waar de loc met tijdelijke NS logo’s tussen Hoorn en Wognum-Nibbixwoud mocht rijden.
6 Juli was ik ook weer aanwezig na het fotograferen van de terugrit van DPB. Wederom een benauwde en natte dag, besloot ik er toch het beste van te maken. Wegens de vele bomen langs het traject was een gebrek aan zon maar iets was misschien ook wel beter was. Na aankomst in Hoorn die middag werd er meteen naar de Holenweg gefietst, waar de loc na een paar minuten wachten voor het eerst die dag vestgelegd kon worden onderweg terug naar Hoorn. Uiteindelijk lukte het die dag 3 keer om de loc voor de lens te krijgen.
