The International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office for Sri Lanka and the Maldives has released a milestone report: “The Future of Work in Sri Lanka: Shaping technology transitions for a brighter future”. Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, graced the event as the Chief Guest.

 

Hon'ble Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, and Deputy Director General, Policy, Deborah Greenfield discussed India's continued commitment towards achieving just and decent world of work, social security for all, poverty alleviation, and enabling women to participate in the workforce through policy interventions, reducing informality among others. The minister said that migration and skill development have emerged as two major challenges and that the government actively trying to address this.

 

The DDG complimented the Indian government's sound leadership towards the decent work agenda. She said that the progress made in India in the world of work is of critical importance for other countries in South Asia and even globally. She said that India will set the tone for the future of work.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office for Sri Lanka and the Maldives has released a milestone report: “The Future of Work in Sri Lanka: Shaping technology transitions for a brighter future”. Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, graced the event as the Chief Guest.

 

The symposium, China’s first national future of work dialogue, took place on 6 September in Beijing. It aims to explore the four “centenary conversations” including work and society, decent jobs for all, the organization of work and production, and the governance of work and make suggestions for further research, areas for collaborative action and format of future Dialogues. Participants include government officials, representatives of the corporate world, workers’ organizations, academia and university graduates.
