Taken in London close to the Shard, these three buildings come together in one shot to create an interesting set of shapes in the image.
Bike parking as a forward-looking response to the mobility transition and the growing demand for cycling infrastructure in cities, here in Berlin. I find it combines modern urban aesthetics with a practical function for the daily commute by bike. You walk through this futuristic corridor on your way to or from the subway.
The Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) stands as a seminal example of contemporary architecture influenced by parametric design principles within the 21st-century urban fabric. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and completed in 2014, the complex occupies the former site of the Dongdaemun Stadium. Its design departs from the orthogonal geometries present in the surrounding urban fabric, replacing them with a fluid topography that integrates infrastructure and landscape.
The building’s envelope is composed of over 45,000 aluminum panels of unique shapes, achieving a continuous surface through advanced digital fabrication. In the nocturnal context, the facade’s perforations interact with ambient and internal light, creating a dynamic illuminated surface. This photographic study captures the DDP beyond its programmatic functions, emphasizing its scale and material articulation.
The juxtaposition of the vertical, anthropomorphic sculpture against the sweeping, horizontal curvature of the plaza establishes a formal contrast between human scale and the precision of the built environment. By minimizing visible joints through complex geometric engineering, the DDP presents a monumental intervention that engages in a dialogue between public space and contemporary architectural form.

Created by internationally renowned British artist Richard Wilson RA and curated by Mark Davy founder of public arts agency Futurecity, Slipstream is an ambitious artwork inspired by the world of aviation and combines precision engineering and specialised UK craftsmanship. The result is a flowing, twisting aluminium form; an imagined flight path of a Zivko Edge 540 stunt plane.

Sculpture by Spanish/Catalan artist Jaume Plensa
WE comprises two parts - one installed in The Shard’s piazza, one suspended above the escalator outside the building - facing each other as if in dialogue. The Shard’s owners commissioned the piece, curated by Futurecity, to be experienced by those visiting, living and working in Shard Quarter, connecting the two areas of the development’s public realm.
WE represents diversity, with letters and characters from 7 different alphabets featured on both sculptures, each representing the universality of being human. WE is a conversation between the Shard and the new piazza. (...)
Language has been used as a metaphor for society and community, with the text and hollow structure providing framed views of the surrounding environment.
The sculptural installation is the first in London created by Jaume Plensa that people can see and interact with in a public space; the home city of one of his artistic inspirations, William Blake. For this particular work, a quote from Blake’s 'The Marriage of Heaven and Hell' perfectly encapsulates his inspiration for the new piece; “one thought fills immensity”. A sentiment that is reflected in WE, a piece that fills the large public space with energy.
The piece is designed to give members of the public a chance to frame their individual perspectives, as they walk through Shard Quarter, taking in one figure, followed by the other. By establishing a link between the two, they will be inspired to consider the notion of self, alongside the people around them.

Beyond law enforcement, municipalities have found many other uses for tachikoma. This gomikoma (from ごみ or gomi, meaning "trash") has a portable incinerator in its abdomen and excels at the traditional goals of trash removal, such as obstructing traffic and making enough noise to rattle windows a block away.

Marchikoma has a special place in my heart because it's the first challenge I participated in when I started building last year. Thanks to curtydc and pasukaru for making it happen again!
Gomikoma is the largest vehicle I've built, and I have a whole new respect for those of you who do this sort of thing regularly. At this scale, weight starts to become a problem and I had to rebuild a couple times to make it stand up.
I love how the bigger official LEGO sets include a small set such as a vehicle for extra play value. So I was inspired to add a little futuristic runabout to this scene. Enjoy!
