Even in Sicily bad weather has arrived, now as I write, there is a furious storm in progress, yesterday "it was raining ashes" coming from a giant cloud spit from the Etna volcano .... (always umbrellas ... it is ....!) ... but until yesterday .... (except for a few rainy days) the good weather and, thanks to the warm sirocco and libeccio winds, coming from Africa ... have enticed the swimmers (among them the many tourists present in Taormina and surroundings ... ) to go to the beaches; certainly the situation has changed compared to the hottest months of July and August, in which months the beaches were always very crowded, in the last days of the end of October, however, the beaches presented themselves with the most distant bathers .... with presences constant, but not excessive.

..... with this series that I am about to post, with the arrival of the bad season, at least for this year, I abandon the photographs taken on the beaches.

….. I made some photo-portraits of people I didn't know, I thank them very much for their sympathy and their availability; I tried to capture the essence of minimal photographic stories, collected walking along the beaches of Taormina (and surroundings ...) ... in search of fleeting moments ...I used a particular photographic technique for some photographs at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension, with photos characterized by being moved because the exposure times were deliberately lengthened, they are confused -focused-imprecise-undecided ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encloses this photographic genre with a single word is "blur", these images were thus created during the shooting phase, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production

Anche in Sicilia è arrivato il cattivo tempo, ora mentre scrivo, c’è un furioso temporale in corso, ieri “pioveva cenere” proveniente da una gigantesca nuvola sputata dal vulcano Etna….(sempre di ombrelli…si tratta….!) …ma fino ad avant’ieri….(tranne qualche giornata piovosa) il bel tempo e, complici i venti caldi di scirocco e di libeccio, provenienti dall’Africa… hanno invogliato i bagnanti (tra questi i molti turisti presenti a Taormina e dintorni…) a frequentare le spiagge; certamente è cambiata la situazione rispetto ai mesi più caldi di luglio e di agosto, nei quali mesi le spiagge erano sempre molto affollate, in questi ultimi giorni di fine ottobre invece le spiagge si sono presentate con i bagnanti più distanti tra loro….con presenze costanti, ma non eccessive.

….. con questa serie che mi appresto a postare, con l’arrivo oramai della brutta stagione, almeno per quest’anno, abbandono le fotografie colte sulle spiagge.

….. Ho realizzato dei foto-ritratti di persone che non conoscevo, le ringrazio veramente tanto per la loro simpatia e la loro disponibilità; ho cercato di cogliere al volo l’essenza di storie fotografiche minime, raccolte camminando lungo le spiagge di Taormina (e dintorni…)... alla ricerca di attimi fugaci s-fuggenti ...

Ho utilizzato per alcune fotografie una tecnica fotografica particolare al momento dello scatto, che oltre a catturare lo spazio circostante, ha "inserito" anche una dimensione temporale, con foto caratterizzate dall’essere mosse poiché volutamente sono stati allungati i tempi di esposizione, sono confuse-sfocate-imprecise-indecise...il termine anglosassone che racchiude con una sola parola questo genere fotografico è "blur", queste immagini sono state così realizzate in fase di scatto, e non come un effetto creato successivamente, a posteriori, in fase di post-produzione.

Dati Tecnici

a) Leica M7 + Leica Summilux M 75 mm f.1,4;

b) Tempo 1/125s con apertura f.5,6 + 2/3 stop;

c) Lettura Esposimetrica effettuata con Gossen Lunalite (Effettuate quattro letture a Luce Incidente sui due lati della tenda superiore/inferiore, una lettura sulla guancia lato illuminato del ragazzo e la quarta effettuata sulla sua spalla destra e la porta dove si appoggia. La sommatoria della risultante è stata comparata con la lettura della macchina. Le letture sono state sommate ed ottenuta la media è stata applicata all’esposizione finale ma con un valore n+2/3);

d) Negativo Ilford FP4 PLUS Prof 125 Asa (esposta a 400 Asa);

e) Scansione con Agfa Duoscan T2500 Pro con rullo piano di scansione e porta di acquisizione SCSI;

f) Il negativo ottenuto presentava una buona omogeneità su tutte le zone ma sono state apportate alcune piccole varianti in post-produzione per valorizzare i neri ed abbassare di un paio di zone chiare;

g) Prima Post-Produzione con Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64bit);

h) Seconda Post-Produzione con Phocus v.3.8.8 di Hasselblad;

I) Ritocco finale con minime correzioni nelle Zone III e Zona VII/2 con Nikon Capture NX 2.

Anayet and Arafita were the most honest and poor Pyrenean gods of the place, since they had been stripped of all the valuable and beautiful things: the pine forests, the paths ... They were poor but happy, since they had a beautiful and intelligent daughter who was called Culibilla.

Her beauty was such that Culibilla was wanted by all the Pyrenean Gods, but she was not interested in any of them and she rejected them all. She liked to play with some white ants who worked tirelessly in the Valley. The quantity of ants was so numerous that Culibillas baptized this place as El Formigal.

But one day the great god Balaitous, the most powerful of all, noticed her. Balaitous was very feared, when he was furious he caused storms that lashed the mountains. Culibilla was also not interested in this feared and evil god, and she ignored his offer. But Balaitous, who had never been rejected, flew into a rage and decided to go find Culibilla. When he came to kidnap her and take her away forever, Culibilla yelled "to me all the ants!" And millions of white ants came to her aid and covered her completely to protect her. Balaitous fled in horror and never came near Culibilla again.

As a thank you to the ants, Culibilla stuck a dagger into her chest to keep all the ants that helped her inside her heart. Now, the Peña Foratata is her chest and the inhabitants of the place say that when they walk through the Valley and approach the Peña, they hear the heartbeat of Culibillas. They say that since then no more white ants have been seen in the Valley.

Anayet y Arafita eran los dioses pirenaicos más honrados y pobres del lugar, ya que habían sido despojados de todas las cosas valiosas y bonitas: los pinares, los senderos... Eran pobres pero dichosos, ya que tenían una hija preciosa e inteligente que se llamaba Culibilla.

Era tal su belleza, que a Culibilla la pretendían todos los Dioses Pirenaicos, pero a ella no le interesaba ninguno y los rechazaba a todos. Le gustaba jugar con unas hormigas blancas que trabajan incansables en el Valle. Era tan numerosa la cantidad de hormigas, que Culibillas bautizó este lugar como El Formigal.

Pero un día el gran dios Balaitous, el más poderoso de todos, se fijó en ella. Balaitous era muy temido, cuando se ponía furioso provocaba tormentas que azotaban los montes. A Culibilla tampoco le interesaba este temido y malvado dios, e ignoró su ofrecimiento. Pero Balaitous, que nunca había sido rechazado, montó en cólera y decidió ir a buscar a Culibilla. Cuando acudió a raptarla y llevársela para siempre, Culibilla grito -¡a mí todas las hormigas!- y millones de hormigas blancas acudieron en su ayuda y la cubrieron por completo para protegerla. Balaitous huyó horrorizado y nunca más volvió a acercarse a Culibilla.

Como agradecimiento a las hormigas, Culibilla se clavó una daga en el pecho para guardar dentro de su corazón todas las hormigas que le ayudaron. Ahora, la Peña Foratata es su pecho y cuentan los habitantes del lugar que cuando pasean por el Valle y se acercan a la Peña, se oyen los latidos del corazón de Culibillas. Cuentan que desde entonces ya no se ven más hormigas blancas en el Valle.

Even in Sicily bad weather has arrived, now as I write, there is a furious storm in progress, yesterday "it was raining ashes" coming from a giant cloud spit from the Etna volcano .... (always umbrellas ... it is ....!) ... but until yesterday .... (except for a few rainy days) the good weather and, thanks to the warm sirocco and libeccio winds, coming from Africa ... have enticed the swimmers (among them the many tourists present in Taormina and surroundings ... ) to go to the beaches; certainly the situation has changed compared to the hottest months of July and August, in which months the beaches were always very crowded, in the last days of the end of October, however, the beaches presented themselves with the most distant bathers .... with presences constant, but not excessive.

..... with this series that I am about to post, with the arrival of the bad season, at least for this year, I abandon the photographs taken on the beaches.

….. I made some photo-portraits of people I didn't know, I thank them very much for their sympathy and their availability; I tried to capture the essence of minimal photographic stories, collected walking along the beaches of Taormina (and surroundings ...) ... in search of fleeting moments ...I used a particular photographic technique for some photographs at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension, with photos characterized by being moved because the exposure times were deliberately lengthened, they are confused -focused-imprecise-undecided ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encloses this photographic genre with a single word is "blur", these images were thus created during the shooting phase, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production

Anche in Sicilia è arrivato il cattivo tempo, ora mentre scrivo, c’è un furioso temporale in corso, ieri “pioveva cenere” proveniente da una gigantesca nuvola sputata dal vulcano Etna….(sempre di ombrelli…si tratta….!) …ma fino ad avant’ieri….(tranne qualche giornata piovosa) il bel tempo e, complici i venti caldi di scirocco e di libeccio, provenienti dall’Africa… hanno invogliato i bagnanti (tra questi i molti turisti presenti a Taormina e dintorni…) a frequentare le spiagge; certamente è cambiata la situazione rispetto ai mesi più caldi di luglio e di agosto, nei quali mesi le spiagge erano sempre molto affollate, in questi ultimi giorni di fine ottobre invece le spiagge si sono presentate con i bagnanti più distanti tra loro….con presenze costanti, ma non eccessive.

….. con questa serie che mi appresto a postare, con l’arrivo oramai della brutta stagione, almeno per quest’anno, abbandono le fotografie colte sulle spiagge.

….. Ho realizzato dei foto-ritratti di persone che non conoscevo, le ringrazio veramente tanto per la loro simpatia e la loro disponibilità; ho cercato di cogliere al volo l’essenza di storie fotografiche minime, raccolte camminando lungo le spiagge di Taormina (e dintorni…)... alla ricerca di attimi fugaci s-fuggenti ...

Ho utilizzato per alcune fotografie una tecnica fotografica particolare al momento dello scatto, che oltre a catturare lo spazio circostante, ha "inserito" anche una dimensione temporale, con foto caratterizzate dall’essere mosse poiché volutamente sono stati allungati i tempi di esposizione, sono confuse-sfocate-imprecise-indecise...il termine anglosassone che racchiude con una sola parola questo genere fotografico è "blur", queste immagini sono state così realizzate in fase di scatto, e non come un effetto creato successivamente, a posteriori, in fase di post-produzione.
