Rent the function room for parties and events, and on days where there aren't then it's a great airconditioned place to stay while waiting for your friends. By the way, did I mention that the designer of these furniture including the ones in the verandra was made by a Filipino who made the furniture pieces for Ocean's Twelve Casino.

Here's another one of my older models, a functioning propeller plane! Running the wheels along the ground makes the propeller spin.

This is a redesign of a redesign of the plane from the Pharaoh's Quest set, Flying Mummy Attack.

More of the same: this should hopefully give a tiny flavour of the place.

During my time here (at a conference) I didn't meet anyone else who had anything good to say about the building. And, y'know, I'd be hard pressed to say it's a masterpiece of function. But who needs function with form like this? It's daring, it's different ... and, to me, it's beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

OpenScope is a portable multi-function programmable instrumentation module. What does that mean? It's a device that you connect to your computer (through WiFi or a USB cable) that allows you to acquire, analyze, visualize, and control signals from circuits, sensors, and other electronic devices. Unlike typical USB instruments, OpenScope can also be programmed to run standalone like an Arduino or Raspberry Pi, but with high-speed precision analog and digital I/O. At the core of the OpenScope is a powerful Microchip PIC32 MZ Processor. This processor has many resources that we took advantage of to enable the functionalities found on OpenScope.

I don't know if this was a private function. Not that we'd need to crash it if it were, as Beaches is an all-inclusive resort. We could get unlimited drinks and food anywhere and it was already all paid for.

The Opening Session of the Board of Governors

The Opening Session of the Board of Governors’ meeting took place on Wednesday 14 and was chaired by Mr Marek Belka, EBRD Governor for Poland and President of Narodowy Bank Polski.

The Opening Session featured a special high-level discussion reflecting on the 25 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the start of transition.

The Prime Minister of Poland, the Chair of the Board of Governors and the EBRD President addressed the audience together with selected Heads of Government from the EBRD’s region of operations and the European Commission who were invited to share their experiences of transition to well-functioning market economies and democratic political systems over the past two decades or more and to comment on the lessons learned and the challenges that lie ahead.

A pun on a common path integral Oil on canvas, 12" by 12" original Green functions are a special type of integral. In calculus, integrals provide methods for adding up functions and trends. Everyday single integrals work in 2 dimensions. A function creates a curve on the plane and solving its integral tells you how much total area the function covers. A green function is a path integral. Path integrals are special kinds of integrals. Imagine that the normal integral measures the area under a curve sitting on a plain piece of paper. If the same curve was drawn on top of a paper with a picture on it, a normal integral would still tell you how much of the paper's area was under the function. But what if you wanted to know the "value" of all of the colors the function passed through? That would require a path integral. Path integrals can be very useful for examining functions that exist in fields - where instead of an empty paper or box, each piece of the space holding the function has values associated with it (electric field strength, color, temperature, etc.). Green functions in particular are used to describe particle motion in fields. They can be translated into little squiggles - Feynman Diagrams - which can be worked geometrically to simplify the set of integrals before solving. In polymers, we use an integral called the "Edwards Integral" instead, which is a close relative of the Green function. In this case the "path" follows the actual shape of the polymer backbone. But Edwards integrals don't really suggest a reason for lots of lovely green paint. In the course of learning arithmetic, algebra, calculus and other mathematics I've always pictured the numbers, variables, and equations as animate. Perhaps assigning personalities an backstories to numerals was my way of compensating for not having any dolls to play with. Of course Green functions are crazy loopy beasts in a scintillating blue field. This one looks like it suffered some injury when the first year grad students attempted numerical integration (and is that a failed attempt at renormalization I see?) That's one hairy function!

human rights day (eve)

"Dear Friend,

To honour and celebrate Human Rights Day, the Open Mosque is hosting a special dinner function on Tuesday, 20th March 2018 at 7pm when Chief Autshumao and Headman Damons, two prominent leaders of the Khoisan Legislative Council will deliver important keynote addresses on the pertinent subject of Human Rights for the First Nation of South Africa. (Please find attached a flyer relating to this important function).

For the first time, representatives of the Khoisan community have been invited by an established Islamic House of Worship to give their own informed analysis on the history, heritage and future of the indigenous population of this country. For far too long, most South Africans have been conditioned either by historic colonialist indoctrination or by contemporary Black African nationalist propaganda that this land either belongs exclusively to European imperialists or to the Bantu immigrants. Both claims are factually incorrect and are a gross historical travesty. In contrast to every black, white or brown South African, the Khoisan alone are not foreign to this land. Everyone else, came from somewhere else. Irrespective what Black politicians might say, this is the incontestable reality of today's South Africa.

Thousands of years before the all-conquering Black settlers from West Africa crossed the Limpopo in the 10th century on their militant southward sweep down the continent, and long before the White explorers arrived by ship at the Cape of Good Hope in the 15th century, the whole of Southern Africa was inhabited exclusively by the native Khoi and San peoples. Significantly, the roaming Black tribes from the north did not cross the Fish River nor did they settle in the Western Cape. The only locals were the Khoi, San and Strandlopers These nomadic pastoralists and stone-age hunter-gatherers had dominated the entire region for millennia. Sadly, they were to be ejected or ethnically-cleansed from their ancestral homelands by vastly superior technology. First, by the iron-age Bantu tribes with their spears and assegais, and then later by the industrial-age Portuguese, Dutch and British invaders with their military cannons and rifles. In this titanic conflict with both the Black and White newcomers, the ill-equipped native Brown residents were no match for the deadly weapons of the Bantu tribes or the modern firearms of the Europeans.

The Khoisan were first defeated and decimated by the marauding Bantu tribes. This subjugation was but a precursor to their almost total annihilation by later Dutch and the British imperialists. The Khoisan's subjection has sadly continued right to the present-day when these first people still find themselves downtrodden and marginalized in a post-Apartheid South Africa ruled by a black nationalist party. Now, taking a leaf from the original inhabitants of North America, Australia, Latin America and elsewhere, the Khoisan are rightly asserting themselves as the First Nation of South Africa.

South Africa belongs equally to everyone who lives in it according to the Freedom Charter and the South African constitution. This country's development and evolution into the industrial giant of Africa is the product of distinct interwoven contributions: white technology, black labour, coloured artisanal skills and Indian entrepreneurship Therefore, no single racial group can legitimately propagate the myth that they alone are responsible for South Africa's modern advancement. It is truly reprehensible that the governing ANC and other political parties like the opportunist EFF falsely believe that they alone have priority rights or preferential claims to this country. This is completely untrue. No one, other than the indigenous Khoi and San, can make such unwarranted assertions.

For this reason, and in view of the ANC's expedient intention to expropriate land without compensation, the Open Mosque has taken the lead in inviting senior office-bearers from the Khoisan Legislative Council in the Western Cape, Chief Autshumao (Mackie) and Headman Damons, to present the indigenous perspective in their justifiable quest for equal human rights and their pre-eminent land ownership to this part of the world.

If you would like to attend this exceptional dinner function that will enlighten and educate attendees about the true factual history of South Africa, kindly email as soon as possible so that your seat can be secured for this illuminating event.

Looking forward to hearing from you shortly.

Kindest regards and salaam"
