According to the Praying Mantis Kung Fu Federation, Three hundred and fifty years ago, Wong Long, the founder of the northern praying mantis style of kung fu, decided after learning the shaolin fighting system that he needed to make improvement. It was Wong`s custom to train and practice his shaolin kung fu skills in a meadow near the temple. One day after practicing with his sword, he sat down to study his books on Buddhism. He was interrupted by a noise nearby on the ground. Two insects were engaged in a duel, a praying mantis attacking a cicada. Within moments the praying mantis had killed the cicada and, holding it in its strong forearms, began eating. Wong was intrigued by the fierce attributes of the praying mantis insect. He was impressed by the way it had moved in and out and used it`s forearms to trap and draw in its prey. He saw in the fierce insect`s predatory ability a way to improve his own combat adeptness.

I Lungarni di Pisa, un susseguirsi di ampie strade che corrono nei pressi del fiume Arno. Sono caratterizzati da antichi palazzi e case dai colori pastello su un lato e da muri in pietra e mattoni (chiamati spallette) sull'altra sponda. Santa Maria della Spina è una piccola chiesa eretta intorno al 1230 in stile gotico pisano, ed ampliata dopo il 1325. Il nome della Spina deriva dalla presenza di una spina, presumibilmente parte della corona di spine posta su Cristo durante la sua Passione e Crocifissione. La reliquia fu portata in questa chiesa nel 1333. Nel 1871 la chiesa fu smantellata e ricostruita su un livello più alto a causa delle pericolose infiltrazioni d'acqua del fiume Arno.
The Lungarni of Pisa, a succession of wide streets that run near the Arno River. They are characterized by ancient palaces and pastel-colored houses on one side and by stone and brick walls (called spallette in Italian) on the other shore. Santa Maria della Spina is a small church erected around 1230 in the Pisan Gothic style, and enlarged after 1325. The name of della Spina ("of the thorn") derives from the presence of a thorn, putatively part of the crown of thorns placed on Christ during his Passion and Crucifixion. The relic was brought to this church in 1333. In 1871 the church was dismantled and rebuilt on a higher level due to dangerous infiltration of water from the Arno river.

L'emplacement actuel de l'église, rue de la Paroisse, a été déterminé en 1554, sa première pierre posée en 1565 sa construction se terminant en 1585. si elle fut épargnée lors du siège de 1639, elle subit des dégâts durant la Révolution.
De type Hallekerke flamand sans transept elle a été restaurée à la fin du XIXème siècle par l’architecte hesdinois Clovis Normand. Richement meublée des éléments des églises des jésuites et des Récollets, elle présente un mariage heureux de divers styles.
Le portail, construit en pierre en 1582, de style Renaissance, présente un net contraste avec le reste de l’édifice en brique. Deux grands pilastres corinthiens supportent une attique où figurent les armes d’Hesdin, de l’Empire d’Autriche, d’Espagne et d’Artois. Le tympan, endommagé à la Révolution évoque une nativité de la Vierge à laquelle l’église est dédiée : lit à baldaquin, foyer, arcs classiques.
A l'intérieur, l’ensemble est séparé en deux parties par un mur pignon : d’une part les trois nefs à cinq travées, de l’autre le chœur. L’abside date de 1690. Le riche mobilier provient pour une part du couvent des Récollets proche de l’église : le portail aux six colonnes corinthiennes, les boiseries, l’autel de la chapelle de la Vierge, la chaire, les stalles, les confessionnaux superbement travaillés. Les vitraux sont particulièrement riches en coloris en rapport avec l’Évangile et l’histoire locale.
Le carillon est composé de 13 cloches et joue un air Din l’cuin d’min fu (Dans le coin de mon feu). Trois cloches sont dans le clocher. L plus grosse, Cécile, pèse 2600 kg, la moyenne Henriette Pauline, 900 kg, et la petite, Marie Danièle, 200 kg.

Di conseguenza non si potranno più fare gli spettacolari inseguimenti, e quindi nessunoa foto, ai vecchi diretti a Sud di Buzet.
Senza saperlo quindi questa potrebbe essere stata la mia ultima foto dell'Istra su questa parte della ferrovia istriana.
Picked up 80105 (Chinese New Year Temple Fair) and I have to say it is probably my favorite set of all time. I seldom build sets, usually just picking them up for parts, but I built this one and it is fantastic!
One of the pieces kinda resembled a bear face so I figured I'd build something small for it.
I'm a little bit of a purist when it comes to Dogwood. I really love the white native Dogwood. But these pink dogwood took off and became the popular tree to have and so at some time years ago I caved and planted a pink dogwood. I've always considered it a "faux" dogwood, not the real thing.
I was amazed to see gliding behavior in spiders. I know some tropical spiders can fly without using silk. However, here is in Canada where you may find things exotic but tropical.
This daredevil spider seemed to steer itself through the air with movements of its outstretched forelegs. I guess it’s an unexpected Kung Fu for spiders, which have no history of either flight or wings.
