We found each other in ugly places. The kind that strip you down and show you who’s real. Somewhere in all that darkness, I found my very much loved friend Purr.
We got close fast, close like we’d already done the hard parts somewhere else. It’s strange knowing our lives missed each other for so long. Maybe if they hadn’t, this wouldn’t be what it is. Some bonds need the damage first.
The truth always comes out. When it does, the light doesn’t soften anything, it clarifies it. Purr wasn’t a coincidence. She belongs here, in my life, in my family, like it was always written that way.
She’s solid, kind and feircly outspoken. And still the easiest person to bully with love.

Forest fires can be very destructive and disruptive in many ways. It’s hard to see landscapes you know dramatically changed and charred to a crisp from a fire. On the flip side it's scenes like this one that remind me of the beauty that will always be there as nature grows back into whatever it will be next. It’s all part of the cycle of nature on our planet, one that shows us resiliency at it’s best.

Lord Snort, a giant metal wild bore sculpture is all that remains of the visitor center at Soda Rock Winery in Healdsburg, California after blowing embers from the Kincade fire found a landing spot on the roof of the historic building...Built in 1869 to house the Alexander Valley General Store and converted to a winery in 1880, all that remains is the barn, where sales have resumed... Lord Snort was welded together out of industrial metal parts by Bryan Tedrick for 2016's Burning Man festival and stands 20 feet tall, 32 feet long, and tips the scales at 10 tons...The Kincade fire started northeast of Geyserville during high winds and downed power lines on October 23, 2019 and subsequently burned 77,758 acres until the fire was fully contained on November 6, 2019...the scorched hills can be seen in the background... it was the largest wildfire ever to occur in Sonoma County...
This is a symbolic image. The pandemic, fires and the selfish shortsightedness of humans has me feeling pretty hopeless. But fires make way for new growth. I don't have much hope for the world right now. But something new will come. Hopefully we'll be around to see it. Maybe not. It doesn't really matter much, anyway.
A sign from the time of the 1871 fire. I thought that there was an incredible amount of strength and determination contained in that one sentence. He's lost everything but he'll work his ass off to get some sort of normalcy back.
20 years later, Chicago hosted the 1983 Columbian Exposition. DAMN we are good!
This image was taken with my phone although I went back later with my camera the light was not right and chose this photo instead .
It is called 'From the Ashes' and commemorates the 80th anniversary of the bombing and destruction during WW2 Of Mount Edgcumbe House and its subsequent rebirth, phoenix-like from the ashes .
I have only used a small part of the work in this image which does not show it off to its best but suited the topic this month.
It's worth going to see it when the sun is out as it catches such beautiful colourful shadows representing the flames.
