A trip to a natural and geological reserve, the Liehter Kalkgrube. An old pit in which lime and salt were broken down. Some years ago, the mine have been shut down and given back to nature. A small stream and a pond is there to find, goats are held there for landscaping, and we saw a lot of dragonflies, butterflies and other small animals as well as beautiful wild flowers. In the earler summer, wild orchids are blooming there. It is an absolutely silent place, wonderful to be there.
"Be kind and tender to the Frog,
And do not call him names,
As 'Slimy skin,' or 'Polly-wog,'
Or likewise 'Ugly James,'"
Build it and they will come...
We moved house at the end of January, and one of the first things I did was to dig a pond.
I dug it in an area that the previous owner had left as wasteland - two abandoned sheds, lots of dead plants and bits of brick and plastic across the floor. With all that gone it is now my little area of wildlife heaven - the pond is nicely established with lots of plant and insect life, and recently a frog has taken up residence. The first, I hope, of many.
The birdlife is brilliant, from Goldfinches to Woodpeckers and many others in between, as well as fairly regular visits from a Sparrowhawk (I'm still trying to get a photo of it!), and at least three hedgehogs visit every night.
Other frogs may be a lot more colourful, but I love the Borneo eared frog. Taken at a Just Frogs photo day with CaptiveLight in Bournemouth.
Even my friend the frog is saying, 'Rain rain, go away'!!!!
We have had so much rain in the past two months, and lots more is in the forecast!
Thanks for looking, etc.:)
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FAVES
ON THE REACTIONS I WILL TRY TO RESPOND BACK
Wees blij met de regen, want als jij niet blij bent, zal het ook regenen

Be happy with the rain, because if you are not happy, it will rain too
Striped Rocket Frog (Litoria nasuta)
Found this little guy indoors on a potted plant, which likely explains why he was sitting in a water conservation position; air conditioning and frogs do not mix well.
-I put some black card behind the plant to remove as much distraction as possible; and while reasonably dark (look at the frogs pupils) this wasn't actually night (MY SECRETS REVEALED!)
First frog of the year was this wood frog. Found this one in the same woodland as the Spotted Salamander. If you double click you can see me on my belly taking the shot and my son standing to the left of me in the reflection in it's eye.
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :D
Tree Frog now named Chubby is back. Found shelter from the storm on our maple tree. Better than the garage door opener.
Kind thanks to everyone who has taken the time to view, fave or comment on my photo. It is very much appreciated.

I can't believe how long it has been that I have been around but it has been a very crazy last few month and I'm sure a lot of you out there will agree with me!!!
I hope everybody is well. I'll will try to make my way around and check out what you have been posting.
Take care and stay safe!
The green tree frogs have been plenty around here this year. This guy was sitting on our front-door ;-)

Probably the largest bush frog in Raorchestes genus(Previously under Philatus and Pseudophilautus genus). First desrcibed in 2005 from Ponmudi Hills, part of Agasthyamala Hill range in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala.
In IUCN website, the species is "Listed as Critically Endangered because its Extent of Occurrence is less than 100 km2, all individuals are in a single location, and there is continuing decline in the extent and quality of some of its habitat." But its based on old data as this specimen is photographed from Coorg in Karnataka which is far from the described type locality. So the conservation status may drop to 'Endangered' or 'Vulnerable' or 'Near Threatened.' Nonetheless its status is threatened with habitat reduction everywhere.
