A trip to a natural and geological reserve, the Liehter Kalkgrube. An old pit in which lime and salt were broken down. Some years ago, the mine have been shut down and given back to nature. A small stream and a pond is there to find, goats are held there for landscaping, and we saw a lot of dragonflies, butterflies and other small animals as well as beautiful wild flowers. In the earler summer, wild orchids are blooming there. It is an absolutely silent place, wonderful to be there.
An American Bullfrog sitting on the algae in a small pond that is covered in duckweed. Every year I try to make it a point to visit this location to photograph the frogs. This year they were there in abundance. Please view large to experience Frog Life in its full glory!
Thanks for stopping by ~!
A frog in the pond on our pasture. I don't know what kind of frog it is. But Pelophylax kl. esculentus (common water frog/ green frog/ edible frog) would be my educated guess. He (or she) might be edible, but we won't eat him.
Yantra X suggested to draw this Blue Harebell she photografed. The frog missed the bee and gets stuck in the Harebell's throat":-)
Build it and they will come...
We moved house at the end of January, and one of the first things I did was to dig a pond.
I dug it in an area that the previous owner had left as wasteland - two abandoned sheds, lots of dead plants and bits of brick and plastic across the floor. With all that gone it is now my little area of wildlife heaven - the pond is nicely established with lots of plant and insect life, and recently a frog has taken up residence. The first, I hope, of many.
The birdlife is brilliant, from Goldfinches to Woodpeckers and many others in between, as well as fairly regular visits from a Sparrowhawk (I'm still trying to get a photo of it!), and at least three hedgehogs visit every night.
Other frogs may be a lot more colourful, but I love the Borneo eared frog. Taken at a Just Frogs photo day with CaptiveLight in Bournemouth.
A friendly circle. They are all admiring the one yellow and black froggie in their group, who is very much enjoying their admiration! Of course each of these tiny frogs are so amazing in their colors and patterns, both as toys and all the more in real life!

Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you.
Not sure how many Common Frogs there are in my little wildlife pond, suffice to say there’s dozens ! 😂
Lovely to see so much life in a public pond. With quite high banks it was quite a challenge to get low to the water for this shot. Camera and lens very close to a dunking.
Striped Rocket Frog (Litoria nasuta)
Found this little guy indoors on a potted plant, which likely explains why he was sitting in a water conservation position; air conditioning and frogs do not mix well.
-I put some black card behind the plant to remove as much distraction as possible; and while reasonably dark (look at the frogs pupils) this wasn't actually night (MY SECRETS REVEALED!)
This smiley frog was on the "Rails to Trails' gravel trail in Baldwin, MI. I love frogs 🐸
Thanks for views, comments and favs :)
Green and beautiful, this frog took no notice as its photo was taken from multiple angles. When talent scouts come cruising, the least one can do is pose and give your best Mona Lisa smile, fame is incidental to a frog so friendly and fabulous.
