I tried this the other day but there were a few stray twigs which ruined the photo, so I tried again and the light was better too.
In production 1968-71, a set I looked at many times as a child but never owned. I acquired this set around 4 years ago.
Ribblehead Viaduct is 440 yards (400 m) long, and 104 feet (32 m) above the valley floor at its highest point.[3] It is made up of twenty-four arches of 45 feet (14 m) span, with foundations 25 feet (7.6 m) deep. The north end of the viaduct is 13 feet (4.0 m) higher in elevation than the south end.[4] 1.5 million bricks were used in the construction and some of the limestone blocks weighed 8 tons each.

In het dal hoorde we in de verte een luid gebrul, wat niet anders kon zijn dan een class 66. Na enkele minuten gebrul doemde inderdaad een class 66 in de verte op.

Dit zijn van die treinen waar je wel wat langer voor wil blijven staan. In principe stond ik hier voor een Katy-shuttle met dubbele loc, maar deze kwam eerst als verrassing
Het betreft hier Freightliner 7193 880 met een lege graantrein. Het was ook een enorme gok qua bewolking, maar bij deze trein brak zowaar de zon door. Vaak zit het ook eens mee!
De trein rijdt hier tussen Colmschate en Bathmen in de richting van Bad Bentheim.

Gisteren kwam Freightliner Polska bij Bad Bentheim de grens over met een graantrein voor OOC in Oss. Er bleek geen capaciteit te zijn in Oss waardoor de trein daar voorlopig nog niet terecht zou kunnen. Om deze reden werd de trein naar de Kijfhoek gestuurd voor stalling. Zodra er ruimte is mag de trein dan door naar Oss. Allemaal redelijk onhandig natuurlijk, maar voor de fotografen een leuke verrassing; loc van dienst was namelijk de groene PB08!
Te Gieltjesdorp zien we het fraaie geheel voorbij rollen onderweg naar Rotterdam. De vertraging, die al ruim 600 minuten betrof, liep dan ook alleen maar verder op. Uiteindelijk werd de trein in Gouda nog aan de kant gezet.
De PB02 is een oude bekende in Nederland (oa. Short Lines) maar rijdt tegenwoordig voor Freightliner DE. De inmiddels groene lok is met een graantrein vanuit Bad Bentheim onderweg naar Oss maar moest naar Tilburg Goederen om kop te maken. Dat leverde een passage op in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Tegenwoordig kan je deze vervoerder ook tegen komen in Nederland met graantreinen naar Oss of Europoort, alleen dit keer kwamen we de vervoerder Freightliner tegen in het Maintal.
Hier passeert class 66 653-09 van Freightliner met aan de haak lege kalkwagens bestemd voor Karlstadt om daar beladen te worden.
