The “Big Bend”, as it is known as inside Letchworth State Park, Castile, New York, USA. Referred to as the “Grand Canyon of the East”, the deepest section of the gorge here is over 500 feet.
The Genesee River began shaping this 17-mile gorge long ago. In early spring and summer, when the rain is heavy, the trees inside the gorges and throughout the park turn such a luscious green color. Many turn almost fluorescent, it’s absolutely beautiful.

After violent storms this was the spectacular view that Mt. Etna offered this evening from Valverde. You can see the red color of a lava branch coming down on the right flank
